  1. Late November 1987 in Buffalo. The Bills became the first team to ever shut the fish out. Jim Kelly was finally coming around. They used the game, which featured outstanding play by rookies Shane Conlon and Cornelius Bennett, to springboard into 1988 and the glroy years. It was a glimpse of what was to come. It was a special game also because the start of the season had been horrid being the strike year.
  2. Been deployed twice in the last three years. Each time I received letters asking for Marines to write back. Got to tell you -- there are times when it is real hard to find a moment or the energy to write back. I know that sounds selfish, but it is hard to describe what I mean. That said, I say include the address, but try not to ask for a letter back too hard. There are plenty of soldiers and Marines who want to write back and will, but it may take a while, and it may not be that many. One big tip -- troops need a laugh. They'll be a lot more likely to hold onto the cards and eventually write back if the card is funny. I don't mean buy a funny card. I mean let the kids draw a picture of Osama tied to tree starving to death. Yeah, its morbid, but I still have copies of cards like that. Let the kids write things like "I hope the terrorists get the plague and die before they can plant anymore bombs" Etc. A good place for the return addresses is on the back of each card. It is subtle, but the soldier/Marine will know... I'm not on active-duty right now, but thanks for supporting the troops over there. The holidays are a real tough time to be away, but it is important to do things like letter writing in the time of the not-so-special times of the year, too. There will be somewhere along the lines of 150,000 pounds of letters from school-age children going to Iraq and Afghanistan this holdiay season, but less than 10,000 pounds in February, and even less in March.

  4. Negative. He did eight years in the booth and then became a WR coach for the Bolts three years ago. Yeah, he's been out of pads for 11 years!
  5. Washington Post: Stanford University has requested permission from the San Diego Chargers to speak to their wide receivers coach, James Lofton, about the school's vacant head coaching job. The Hall of Fame wideout played at Stanford and has a son, David, now playing at the school. Stanford also has had preliminary discussions with representatives for Jim Fassel, the former Giants coach who's serving as a consultant to the Baltimore Ravens this season. Fassel is a former Stanford assistant who worked with John Elway at the school, but might want to focus on trying to land another NFL head-coaching job. . . . Link -- near the bottom of the page. Did the Bills show any interest in getting Lofton to coach the WRs in Buffalo? He's doing a nice job with the receiving corps in San Diego. Good for him all around!
  6. Evans will add enough to those stats to push his rookie year's stats higher than Andre's. Nice.
  7. Scribo is Latin for writer. I was am a writer. But I am not Latin...
  8. He also wrote: "He's got big-time streaks of inconsistency, but (Buffalo second-year cornerback Terrence) McGee looks like he can be a player. And I'm not just talking about kickoff returns and special teams." I have to agree. McGee has me thinking he's going to be a very good corner as he continues to learn.
  9. Anyone who saw yesterday's Steelers/'Skins game knows the Bills can beat the Steelers in Buffalo. If a team can stop the run and put event he slightest pressure of Big Ben, they will crumble and leave the door open all day. Also, Pitt cannot stop the deep passes. I see big things for Lee Evans in that game -- as long as Drew can get the ball to him. I agree with other posters that Denver will collapse. I also see the Jests letting a couple slip away that shouldn't. The playoff picture is much more open than it appears right now.
  10. I use Dreamweaver. You can use that to draw 'hotspots" -- which are indivdual linkable areas on an image. Don't know if other Web editing software does the same... hope that helps some.
  11. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=fanb...nball&type=lgns Read below -- I thought we were playing the Rams this week -- not the stinkin' Fish. Rams: Faulk sent home by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Thursday, November 18, 2004 News Rams' head coach Mike Martz sent Marshall Faulk home yesterday when the running back showed up at practice with the flu. "He's got the flu bug," Martz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He was going to come and practice, and (I told him), ‘Go home, go to bed.' He's been down for a couple of days. He can in and got some medicine, got the game plan, and went back home." Faulk is listed as probable on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Views Faulk is said to be on the road to recovery, as he was actually feeling worse on Tuesday. He should be healthy before Sunday, but it's possible that rookie Steven Jackson will take more carries than usual, if Faulk is physically drained by the virus.
  12. Any trade would involve the other working a new extnaded contract. For the reason, and that is more than just the norm, everyone can stop thinking about TH having more value because of this low current salary. He isn't going to play next year without a raise. Mark my words on that.
  13. Did he ever say anything of interest? Something along the lines of "We seriously were considering ot letting Drew on the plane home Sunday night, but Tommy made us."
  14. Maybe we should give MM a mulligan here. He is a rookie. We chalk mistakes by rookie players up as "learning experiences." Moreover, the game was out of reach. He had nothing to lose by making any subs. He could have put his mother in as QB, and we'd still be in the same boat today. Maybe MM was trying to see what Losman could do totally cold, off the bench. Nah, fire him and bring in Weiss ASAP.
  15. Oops, the post above was me.
  16. I know him personally. He was fired at 3:35 p.m. He was told someone posted the conversation on a message board. The FO reviewed the tape, and pulled the trigger. Nice.
  17. I agree with five out of six, but I doubt more than one of the six will take place. My prediction: 1. Would have happended by now if it was going to happen this week. 2. Won't happen, period. TD would leave and get hired by another team within days. Not that that is a bad thing, but it means Mr. Wilson won't able to make the suggested moves. 3. This is quite likely, and for good reason. 4. JP will be on the bench at 1 p.m. Sunday. I doubt he starts a single game this year. But I personally agree -- he should start against the Rams. 5. Smith should be gone, but he won't be. We have no where else to turn. Tucker is all right. 6. I think McGahee is the real thing. I agree that Travis has been done wrong, but bussiness is bussiness.
  18. J.P. It is that simple.
  19. Bills Daily says it may happen this week.
  20. Those who doubt Pres. Bush's ability to be commander-in-chief should ask those serving under him: Armed forces personnel in Bush's corner
  21. There are more than four to six weeks left in the season. He'll be back. He is young. Still sux for them though as they'll lose at least half of those games he misses.
  22. Dolphins waive center Ball DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Center Jason Ball was waived by the Miami Dolphins after he failed his physical. Ball was claimed last week by Miami, but is still hampered by an ankle injury suffered last season. He was released Oct. 26 by the San Diego Chargers following clashes with management.
