  1. Of course it is. But this conversation was about the quality of education offered at Alabama. None of this change that Bama is not among even the top 100 colleges in the United States. One might think that all the money they make in football, they'd be able to afford raising their academic game. But do that and they'd have to raise their admissions requirements, which might keep them from being able to recruit the next Reuben Foster.
  2. Your example shows a kid who chose Alabama over Ivy League schools for ONE reason. Money. That's it. This is no different than a good kid deciding to go to a two-year community college even though he or she could get right into a good four-year university. It makes financial sense. And note I am not claiming in any way that students aren't able to get a good education at Alabama. I am just saying it is not among the top academic institutions, and they do let knuckleheads in to be better at football. I've looked over the US News rankings, and I think Alabama landed in a fair spot.
  3. Shocking to see a tiny website write negatively about a major media outlet, especially given the little website fancies itself as competing with that major media outlet.
  4. Would be interested to see how the money would have been made to work. So the Bears, Jests and us. Two AFC teams vs one NFC team. Makes sense. Have to presume McC was part of this trade.
  5. Agreed. But way to ignore the entire part about UofA.
  6. So we had to go to overall quality? Can you find Alabama on this list of the top universities in the nation? (Hint: don't bother looking in the top 100) Maybe they're at a disadvantage because Alabama has one of the worst performing public school systems in the country. Only 26.1% of fourth graders and 17.2% of eighth graders in the state are proficient in math, each the smallest such share of any state.
  7. But he has big hands.
  8. The Bills zapped EJ again.
  9. "For the sake of..." means "for the purpose of..." So I read that to mean they have been cutting players and making moves for the purpose of having a bad season. That's exactly what the Bills were accused of trying to do last year on the preseason and all the way through the final quarter of the season. And which top players were cut this year?
  10. "for the sake of a possibly bad season"
  11. Nah, they ordered pizza, slammed a six-pack of Blue and hit the sheets right after "finalizing" the 53 52.
  12. Almost as much of a treat as the four quarters our entire lineup of QBs has played in the NFL.
  13. They already have six WRs on the roster and a shortage of interior linemen. I think they'd have to say goodbye to one of those six.
  14. So tanking? Hmm, I seem to recall hearing that before.
  15. Who is cut to make room for Gentry? Each player they kept so far has a specific role, I believe.
  16. Using the Browns to measure real market value is ridiculous. The Browns are ridiculous. Don't be the Browns. Besides, timing is key and at that point back then the film on McCarron pretty much centered around his solid play in a playoff game - not him getting his butt kicked by the Browns and by the Bears for three quarters.
  17. Spencer Pulley. Started all 16 games for a good Chargers line last year. He is just 25, has ben reliable and not at all bad. He lost his starting job to FA signee Mike Pouncey and the backup role to a solid rookie. Still both of the Chargers' fans were really surprised and disappointed that Pulley was cut yesterday.
  18. I cannot believe Spencer Pulley was cut. He'd be the first guy I'd call.
  19. What? No, I replied to someone who said Ducasse should not make the 53. I replied that he is not going to be cut from the team while the coaches believe he's the best guy on the roster at his position. That's where we are right now. You asked me if I am sure of that.
  20. Jake Campos
  21. The idea is not to sign him to play him. The idea is to sign him to use whatever he knows about the Ravens' offense and gameplan.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Logan Thomas signed during Whaley's era?
  23. Cyrus Kouandjio
  24. Tanner Gentry Kyle Friend David Quessenberry Cyrus Kouandjio
