  1. I am little surprised to hear TD may have let TH go for a third rounder, especially, if it was a late third rounder. Sure, if the Bills keep Henry this season they will most likely get nothing for him at the end of the year. Although there are some tagging options to look at later. But the fact is that the Bills NEED to have a solid backup running back this season if they want to compete for a playoff spot. I love McGahee. I think he’ll be even better this season. But he has not shown a whole lot of durability so far. I'd say the chances of him missing a game or two this upcoming year are pretty high. The profit/loss situation comes in when we think about how much the Bills would have to spend (in whatever form) to acquire a solid backup running back who wouldn't hurt us if he had to start a couple games this year. A risky late third rounder at any position is not likely to bring as much value to the team as it would cost the team to acquire a solid running back. As long as Henry will play when called upon, which I think he will, keeping Henry is a better value for the Bills.
  2. I just have to believe that Denver didn't know they could have had Henry for their 3rd rounder. It will go down as very big dumb move by the horsies. Nevertheless, I am happy that trade didn't happen. The Bills need a solid backup running back. It would have cost too much to get a soldi backup in.
  3. It probably won't happen, but that is what makes this idea "a darkhorse." Nice thinking.
  4. SI's take on him in 2003 BIO: Two-year starter at both nose guard and defensive tackle. Finished his senior season with 31 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks after 47-6-4 the prior year. POSITIVES: Wide-bodied interior lineman best defending the run. Plays with forward lean, keeps his feet moving up the field and holds the point against blocks. Strong upper body, wedges between opponents and works to get involved. NEGATIVES: Does not break down well or bend his knees. Lacks agility, flexibility and only effective in a straight line. ANALYSIS: Potenial back-up at tackle, though he could find a home on the nose for a 3-4 defense.
  5. I'd rather take a third from TB, Philly or Ariz. It has nothing to do with my hatred for the Stinkin' Fish. It is just that there is still a good chance TH will have several good seasons ahead of him. I'd really rather not have to face him two times a year for the next six, seven or eight years.
  6. Thank you for the link.
  7. I think Surtain's depature will in the end hurt the Stinkin' Fish more than it help them this season. But I think the trade helps KC a lot. The AFC West is going to be a tough division this year.
  8. I kinda like these ones. Notice how much happier the Detriot players look than the Arizona players did.
  9. Hey, who is Dallas got as their starting QB now? Oh yeah, that guy we gave the boot. Who is their backup? Oh yeah, that guy they outbid us for. Hey, who is our starter? The guy we got with their draft pick. I just think it is really funny how many connections there are between the Bills and Cowgirls in the QB slot. Here's to hoping and believing we're coing out way ahead on all this.
  10. Plenty did moe than one tour in Vietnam. But it wasn't as common then as it is now because the enlistments back then were shorter, so a soldier would often join, get trained, deply, come home and get out. Now the military understands that they were losing a lot of money by putting so much into training soldiers and then letting them out after 18 months.
  11. God bless Spc. Jacob M. Pfister
  12. I agree 100 percent. The real steals are going to come in the second round this year. Oh yeah, if the Skins' let Ramsey go, they just might be the dumbest damn team in football.
  13. The thing i can think of is that the Redskins either believe they can package these two first rounders to get one super, great player -- or they feel they are only two top rookies away from going all the way. Yeah, they are a laughing stock.
  14. I'm not willing at this time to go as far as to say I have confidence in Reed, but I am more than wiling to give him this year to step up and show what he is really worth. I believe his medicore play in the past season and a half has been due to his mindset rather than his physical skills. If the coaching staff, or his fellow players, can get him to believe in himself again, he’ll be a good 3rd WR. So I’m thinking the question we need to ask is "Does Reed have confidence in Reed?"
  15. Thanks. It figures...
  16. I got an e-mail last night from the Bills saying there would be a text messaging chat with TD. Anyone get in on this? If so, what did he have to say, er, type?
  17. JOSEPH RATZINGER (GERMAN), BORN APRIL 16, 1927 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger seems typecast for the role of doctrinal watchdog he has played at the Vatican since 1981. Under his meek demeanour lies a steely intellect. His blunt judgments delight conservatives and outrage liberal Catholics. Ratzinger was archbishop of Munich before taking over as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), the successor to the Inquisition, in 1981. In that office, he has cracked down on liberation theology in Latin America and denounced sexual liberalism in the West. In 2000, his document "Dominus Iesus" (Lord Jesus) angered Protestants by saying their churches were "deficient." One of Pope John Paul's closest advisers, Ratzinger became dean of the College of Cardinals in 2002.
  18. The difference is that the games involved before were Sunday night games. Now we're talking about the more lucrative Monday night advertising.
  19. I am reporter. I cover the military.
  20. My point is that Disney will want teams from larger markets, like NYC, San Fran, Boston, Miami, etc., on MNF so that they can have the games on their ABC affliates (as well as on ESPN) in the larger markets. This thinking will give advantages to larger market teams, thus being a disadvantage to ther Bills.
  21. This deal is bad for the Bills, bad for Buffalo, and bad for every other small market team in the league. The Bills are going to have to be damn good to get on Monday Night Football for the next seven years. Why? This deal has a clause in it that allows the ABC stations in the home markets for the two teams in each game to show the game, in addition to ESPN. So we'll see even more games with teams from large markets. So when the Jests play the 9ers, the game will still be on ABC in San Fran and NYC/NJ -- I think Disney would rather that than they'd like the ABC stations in Buffalo or Green Bay to have it. This will also limit the number of Jests/Gints games and Raider/San Fran games.
  22. Important to note: this article says the rumored deal with the Raider involves the Skins getting a second rounder from Oakland as well. That may be why the Skins are looking at the Raiders now instad of focusing on the Bills. There is no way I'd trade Nate and our second round pick for #9. I would seriously consider trading Nate for the #9 pick straight up, providing we had a solid plan in place to turn that #9 pick into a later first rounder and a second, or even two decent second rounders. I don't see TD trading Nate just to move up in this draft.
  23. I'm not against trading Nate for the ninth overall pick. I really like the guy, but it may be the best bet. I'd say the Bills' chances of winning it all in 2005 are pretty slim. Sure, we could/should make the playoffs, maybe. That said, if TD determins that all signs point to losing Nate at the end of the year, and he can obtain that #9 pick, I say go for it. A #9 would translate into a late first and another second. That, along with a second for Travis Henry, and we're looking at a draft that could really shape a positive future. The bottomline in my opinion is the Bills need to do what needs to be done to bring a Super Bowl trophy to Buffalo. We're no going to have one in Feb. '06, so why not do what we need to in order to increase our chances for the '06-'07 season? Of course, if TD believes he can bring Nate back without seriously hampering another position, then I say go for it. I would love to see Nate in a Bills uniform for another six years.
  24. If you do choose to do something less than legal, back off for a few weeks first. In other words, let him think you've given up and forgotten about his antics before you pour corn syrup into his tank. You may also want to consider super gluing washers over his car keyholes.
