Gregg Easterbrook’s Tuesday Morning Quarterback fo

Holy crap -- I guess I never really realized that TD took Mike Williams; therefore, passing on Dwight Freeney, Julius Peppers, Levi Jones, Ed Reed, Jeremy Shockey, and Clinton Portis. -

I like this post a lot. It is dead on, but I think Holcomb was pretty much plan B for the Bledsoe dumping. Really, with a salary cap, a team cannot have much more of a plan B at quarterback. -
I know it has been talked about a lot here, but MM was asked about it in his weekly Q&A. It just doesn't make sense to me that you take "one of the top backs in the league" out of the game every third down -- the most important down. Willis seems to catch pretty well, and I would really like to see what he can do with a little space to get moving. MM's reponse is just plain dumb. Oh, Willis caught one whole screen pass Sunday. I guess all is forgiven then. Oh yeah, and then he goes on to say that the Bills don't really need Willis in there because he has so many other "weapons" in need of their "due." I would like to know if there is anyone here who thinks putting Shaud in on third down is a good idea, or if you think MM is out of his mind. Bob Jasek (Keller, TX): Any chance you will get Willis McGahee more involved in the passing game? I know you take him out in most passing situations, and I know it must have something to do with Shaud Williams being a better blocker, but it seems like he could serve a similar role as LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego. Mike Mularkey: At this point we are still pleased with Shaud. He's been good this year on third down and has made plays when he's had some opportunities. The other thing is when we go to two backs, Willis is in there with Shaud. Willis has had more opportunities and he caught a screen Sunday. I'd like to get him more involved, but we just have so many weapons and I like to get them all their due.

I've got the perfect HC for the Bills.

ESPN reported Sunday that people close to Wolf said he would take a GM position if the salary offer was more than $5 million or included a percentage of ownership. -
Jerome Bettis.

Bingo. We want a team that values winning a game the right way -- without having to rely on trick plays.

Gray = no adjustments, just blitz, blitz, blitz (unless we want to let our most hated rival make a comeback) -

Good call. But rumor has it the Lions are already looking at him for their head coaching vacany. Here is a nice article about one of the greatest linebackers of our time. Link -
Good find. It is a good thing to read, especially considering three of those picks were yesterday.
-
Not worried. Here is the competion: K.C. -- decent team, good attendance -- the only team I could see as being more attractive. Ravens -- the offense is fixable with a new QB -- but Billick won't get canned Raiders -- the only guy Al Davis could to take the team two years ago The Vikes are still a mess, plus Tice just may owe his life to Brad Johnson Saints -- same story every year, and Haslett always survives -- but this is a team with a home, seemingly destined to relocate and bound to be a mess for a while Texans -- good city to be in, but the whole roster needs to be scrapped.

I'd love to have hime, but he has everything going for him in Iowa -- he has no rea$on to leave.
-
Did anyone see any adjustments being made at all (on either side of the ball) yesterday? The Bills have come out several times this year with things clicking right off the bat, but then the opposing team sees what the Bills are doing, counters and wins easily because the Bills don't adjust to the adjustments. Hell, the Bills were out coached by Norv Turner this season!

Carol can stay at USC forever.
-
Which is impressive if for no other reason than he is signed for the longterm.

I agree fully on this list, but I would also like to add Mr. J.P. Losman -- he is taking one hell of beating each week, but he keeps popping up, trying to make plays and just get better. By the way, I wouldn't say the coaches gave up, as I haven't seen any evidence that they were trying the begin with. I mean, when is the last time there was any sign at all of the Bills making a halftime adjustment?
-
If a team cannot even come close to competing for control of the line of scrimmage, that team will have zero chance of winning. You know -- really complicated stuff here -- not something I would expect an NFL GM to understand. I still say go defensive tackle first in the draft, o-linemen second, third and fourth -- and in free agency.
-
I will start: Mike Williams -- isn't even pretending anymore I was thinking McGahee, but it was admirable to see him come back in after that hit to the head yesterday.
-
Thank you. I agree 100%. As several of us said last week, the Bills have to be as attractive (if not more so) than the Lions or Texans. Ralph cannot take his money with him, so he might as well buy the best he can now -- Ron Wolf is likely the best on the market.

Oh yeah, instead of Ferguson, I'd like to see the Bills get Haloti Ngata or Mario Williams. I'd even be happy with Gabe Watson at the end of the 1st. But I suspect TD (if he is still around for the draft) would take Eric Winston. -

I don't necessarily rate any OTs higher, but at the same time I don't think he is worth a #5 pick, which is where most mock drafts have him landing right now. My biggest concern is that he seems to get injured when things start going south. Now that could be because he isn't a mean, nasty guy -- which is what I like in a OT -- or it could be that he is under 300 pounds. He is bound to get hurt a few times a year if he doesn't continue putting on weight, and if he does keep adding pounds, my guess is that he'll lose that finess that he has right now. Bottomline -- I don't think will be any better than Jonas Jennings. -
OK, OK, what else is there to do right now but dream? Here is the exact quote from Chris Mortensen yesterday: "Millen is privately conceding that he (has) a troubling future. Now if Millen left, who would replace him? Former Packers general Ron Wolf has definitively told me and others that he is not looking to unretire, so to speak. But here is what a source familiar with Wolf's thinking tells me. If he gets a percentage of ownership or if the salary is, say, beyond $5 million a year, he just might consider it."

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is way overrated. If the Bills "earn" a top-5 slot in the draft, I wouldn't be opposed to trading down to pick up an extra first day pick. -
OK, I know he was discussed quite a bit here last week. But ESPN said yesterday that Wolf WOULD be willing to come out of retirement for a percentrage of ownership OR a $5 million yearly salary. Get 'er done, Ralph!
