  1. His vertical is 40 inches, according to U of Maryland -- as of last spring. It is not at all unusal for males to continue growing through the age of 21, but most males stop getting taller then. It is also somewhat common for men to grow throught ht age of 25. NFL teams, I would assume, would have doctors look at players bones -- it can be determined if a person has the potential to have one more growth spurt.
  2. Every year you read about a Pro Bowler recruiting another Pro Bowler to come to his team. This year I'm sure every guy in Hawaii was talking up Shaun Alexander and other potential free agents. I think I recall TKO and Sam Adams were guys other Pro Bowling Bills helped recruit. Anyway, I wonder if the Bills of the week tried talking anyone there into coming out to Buffalo. I don't know how much any of this really comes into play when it comes down to a player choosing a new team, but I have to believe everything helps. All that said, having only our punter and long snapper in Hawaii is probably a disadvantage. Just wondering if anyone else sees it that way?
  3. We have to let him hear it when the Jests come to town. I am sure he is looking forward to coming back to the Ralph.
  4. I, as much as anyone outside the Everett family, am dying to see him hit the field. But we need to keep a few important points in mind -- First, he suffered a major injury less than a year ago. A tight end with a bad wheel does not make it in the NFL. We do not know if he is fully healed, how it will affect his speed and agility, and we do not know how durable he will be now. Second, he really only played football for a few years. It is way too early to know how long of a learning curve he is working on -- yeah, he has the phyisical attributes needed, but does he have the instincts and gridiron savvy needed to make it in the NFL? We do not know that, the coaches do not know that, and he does not know that -- yet. Third, he dropped to us in the third round. There is little to no way Vernon Davis makes it out of the top-10. I know plenty of great players fell into the third and well beyond, but there is are reasons he fell, and the biggest is because Everett proved less in his college career.
  5. I'll say he is an unpolished blocker, but it seems to me he must have spent a lot more time at Maryland working on his receiving than his blocking. He has the power and strength -- often relying on only that in college -- to be a dominate blocker with the right coaching. Of course, the Bills don't even have a TE coach right now, but I trust they'll find someone who can help him learn a blocking system.
  6. I've never seen a wideout who could bench 460. He'll be a stellar TE in the NFL. I think adding him would give the offense an instant boost. IMHO, he is already a canidate for '06 rookie of the year. More workout stats: power clean (355), vertical jump (40 inches), index (797), squat (685) and 40-yard dash time (4.41) ... all recorded in spring of 2005.
  7. Yes, he can pound DEs into the ground, and he has the size/strength to make an initial pop on a pass rusher and still get into the flats as a receiver. He has great speed, and he his hands are WR-caliber.
  8. The video
  9. Thurman Thomas -- he'll then have another shot at being a first ballot inductee.
  10. This is an easy one. First off, making them fulltime employees is the most effective way to make each official responsible for their performance. If a ref screws up now, yeah, he may be fired, but he still has his "real" job to go back to. If he is a fulltime NFL employee and he screws up, he is now jobless, so he will put more effort into preparing for games, staying in top shape, ect. During the offseason, the refs can review film, discuss trends, help come up with rule changes, ways to protect the game's integrity, ect. They can visit each team to work with coaches on minimizing reoccuring penalties. They can ref practices and scrimmages. It would be win-win for everyone!
  11. I suppose the phantom holdling call in the 4th quarter -- you know, the one that erased a huge gain that would have set up a first and goal for the Seahawks at the two-yard line. Mr. Touchdown would have likely scored, and the Seahawks would have been up by three -- instead, Seattle was sent back to the 29 with a 2nd & 10 and down by four. Yeah, that is a big deal that changed the entire game.
  12. From the petition: 6103. Bill Cowher I ain't complainin'.
  13. So to recap what "2003' did for the Bills in this mock, as this is a Bills board, Buffalo traded Nate Clements and their third round picks -- and landed MARIO WILLIAMS, JIMMY WILLIAMS and ERIC WINSTON. That would be a very good first day. I noticed the free agency compensation picks were not factored in.
  14. This goes back to the whole unexplainable Stealers craze that has overtaken so many metro areas around the country. I hate Stealers fans. It is hard to get a sports bar to agree to host a Bills Backers group -- just in case the Pittsburgh fans show up. We have something like three Black & Yellow groups here, and it is so damn annoying. I was cheering against Pitt just because of their fans.
  15. Well said.
  16. 364 days. OK, in reality ... they will never win another regular season game. Last I checked, it was impossible for an 0-16 team to make the playoffs. So, it will be a long time. The lower I keep my expectations, the less depressed I get each January.
  17. Sorry to hear that. We lost power two weeks ago during the Pitt-Denver game. I decided then that if the Bills ever make it to the playoffs again, and there is even the slightest breeze, I'm going to have a generator on standby.
  18. I still say landing LeCharles Bentley would be a bigger deal for a long time. But we'd be very lucky to get either him or Hutchinson.
  19. Miami Herald hits it on the head
  20. The military use to do it this way, too. Of course, then it was because not many reporters were getting into the combat zones.
  21. TED is reportedly doing well for his age (36 I believe), still effective against the run. Oh, and he is still huge. And he supposedly said recently to some news organization that he'd like to play for DJ again.
  22. My thoughts exactly.
  23. I'm completely fine with that plan, too. But who do you go after in the first then? I don't see a better value at the #8 slot than Ngata.
  24. Get rid of Sam, bring in TED, draft Nagata or Watson, hope Edwards stays healthy and see if Anderson can breakout this year.
  25. Positive Bills fans will always be around. Just wait, as the seaseon gets closer, us fans will get more and more positive. Of course, us Bills fans would probably all live longer, healthier lives if we were more realists. Oh well, all the way to the Super Bowl next year!
