  1. Excellent point, Quebecer. Through this fan's eyes, it does not appear that way. If Moulds wanted to come back, he'd want to Bills to win, so he would restructure yet again, knowing he would get more guaranteed cash in the long run. But, instead, he has shown he is going to continue what he started in Miami. He wants out, and he is going to get just that -- sometime this week, I'll bet. No, he is not worth $5.5 mil -- not to the Bills. Plus, and even more importantly, if he is kept, the Bills will have more dead cash the year they do finally say goodbye to #80.
  2. Thanks, gents. In that case, I fully expect a Thursday night deal to be struck, pushing the start of free agency back a month.
  3. Well, as long as we're naming names, also selected in the first over the past several years were Tony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark, Jeremy Shockey, Dan Graham, Jerramy Stevens, Todd Heap, Bubba Franks, Anthony Becht, Ben Watson, Mark Bruener and Keith Jackson, and Alge Crumpler was just a few picks from being a first-rounder. While not all of them are superstars, there is a fair number of solid stars in that group. In 2002, three tight ends went in the first round. Those three teams were the Giants, Pats and Seahawks (all playoffs teams this past season). And two teams picked TEs in the 1st in 2004, of which one team was in the playoffs (Pats again) -- the other was the Browns, and it is hard to say what would have happened if Winslow was not such a giant idiot. My take is that a 1st round TE can be a superstar, and history does not prove otherwise.
  4. Sorry for this request for education, but why exactly does the Skins' future hinge on a new CB deal? Does the cap not go up from last year if a deal isn't struck?
  5. If Marv is thinking about reimplementing the no-huddle, which he has hinted at, Vernon Davis makes good sense. Davis is a guy who can be deadly in the passing game and effective in the run game. The D would not be able to focus on the run nor the pass. They'd have to play the Bills straight up with a basic package.
  6. The first man cut should be Brunell. The guy flat sucks. He reminded me this season of Drew's final year with the Bills -- the Skins' D and running game saved every game, but Brunell seemingly tried over and over agian to blow each game.
  7. I think someone else already typed this in another thread, but I want to say it, too: With Moulds gone, Vernon Davis seems like the best pick the Bills could make at #8.
  8. I want V.D. more than I want Ngata.
  9. Very good point, Kelly, and I have to believe Marv is thinking the same way. Any news of the Bills interviewing Davis?
  10. So we should get rid of Milloy then -- right? I believe so. Nah, Abraham is not worth the #8 pick in this year's draft. Wait 'em out, and then maybe offer next year's #1 for him. But I would think it unlikely for the Jests to trade him to a division rival.
  11. Texans talking about trading top draft pick -- it could be the Jests. Just, please, don't be the Bills.
  12. We could take Greenway, but probably not at #8. This makes perfect sense -- just in case someone offers a decent package that includes a mid-1st for the #8 pick. Marv and the guys need to be ready for picking anywhere.
  13. Can we trade Moulds? Even if we only got a 5th, it would be something, and it would allow the other team to not have to worry about losing out to free agency. Hell, I would even take a 7th.
  14. I'd rather land Bentley. I am a firm believer that it all starts with the center. That said, one of the things TD did correctly was offer Takeo a pay package with a large first-year number, which forced a then-cap hampered Bengals. Same thing will apply here. The team that offers Hutch the biggest first-year number will be the team the Seahawks will have to give up to.
  15. Good point, Astro. It is important to note that the Niners woudl likely take Pollard before the Bills pick again, as San Fran needs all kinds of help in the secondary and have yet to draft a DB or safety on your board. My guess is Tatusi Lutui has a better chance of making it past the next four teams picking before the Bills are up again than Pollard does. Alll that said, I still think Lutui would be more valuable to the Bills sooner than Pollard.
  16. Actually, E$PN has every reason to pump this up to full volume. The network lives largely off the NFL. For ESPN, a year without football would be a year without something like 70% of its viewership. I, for one, am happy ESPN is being proactive enough to start making this into big news now -- rather than waiting until it is actually going to happen, at which point it could be unavoidable. Now, the heat will be turned up and the NFL and players' union will get it done as the fan base will start getting restless. It will also give the players time to start thinking about how bad things could get if they were without work for a season.
  17. No doubt we have to draft Tatusi Lutui if he is still there at this point.
  18. I don't think so. In a draft this deep at the positions the Bills need to fill, there is no one player good enough to trade up for for the Bills. Stay at #8, see who falls -- because someone very good will fall -- and then decide if they should pick or trade down. It has been written here many times: the Bills are far from being one player away from the playoffs.
  19. Especially since Reggie Bush did the opposite -- barely tipping the scales at a mere 201. A back with that light won't last in these days of 330+ d-lineman.
  20. I was wondering why they would do it at night -- not like their trying to get it on primetime TV or anything.
  21. I read today, on Yahoo! Sports, that Brickshaw gained 13 pounds and GREW 1/2 inch in the past month -- since scouts measured him at the Senior Bowl. Damn, he may be the #2 or #3 overall pick.
  22. That sounds a whole lot better than the original post in this thread -- not saying which is more accurate.
  23. Yes, I know this is a very good sign for things to come in pro football. But April is so far away.
  24. We do not end sentences with a preposition. It is "Where do the Patsies be?" 603628[/snapback] What is the Patsies' situation? --I couldn't resist; I'm an editor.
