  1. From the article linked above... There is a novel idea! Too bad no one at OBD is smart enough to figure this out.
  2. Anyone else do this math? I have kind of have a bad record dealing with numbers on this board.
  3. Here is one big hole in this claim: Do a little math with me. First, there are two games the first week, so that is four teams. Then there are 16 more weeks, so that is 32 more teams. Add that together and there will are now slots for 36 teams. But... there are only 32 teams in the entire league. Maybe a few games will feature NFLE teams. Yes, Peter King may be wrong.
  4. I've watched Moulds play for years -- in person, and he use to get much better seperation. So, for a receiver who plays like you describe, should the QB just throw to him every time? I mean, how would a QB know if a WR is "open" if he is really open when he is covered?
  5. Outstanding article. Finally someone from E$PN who really studies what he is talking about. A few take aways from this: First, maybe the knock on Holcomb for never going deep is a bit unjustified. Maybe he just saw exactly this and decided Moulds would be much better used on short, possesion routes. Of course, this article doesn't talk about whether Evans was getting open down field. Second, this could also explain some of J.P.'s struggles last year. With his excellent arm strength, he seems to be more suited for a vertical passing game. Well, how effective is such a game plan going to be if your #1 receiver isn't getting open down field? This can be further backed up by looking at how well J.P. hooked up with Evans in the Miami game, when Evans was in effect being used as the #1 receiver. This all points to one thing -- Moulds needs to accept reality; he is getting old, and he is slowing down. That is nothing of which to be ashamed. Rather, he should adapt to nature and become a star possesion receiver (for a good deal less money).
  6. True enough. Point taken. I don't want to get political by explaining my comment.
  7. Come on, man. I see the comparison, but no need to strike that low.
  8. Maybe it is the fact that his representitive said Moulds would "never play for Buffalo again." That just gave me a feeling.
  9. Would refusing to play be "cause"?
  10. Wouldn't you rather see us draft that rookie than have to claim him off waivers? Cutting Moulds = getting nothing for him except dead cap space. Marv is smart enough to trade Moulds when the time is right for the right price.
  11. There is a big flaw in that little piece: The Billshave not "made it clear Moulds was facing release." That is just the opposite of reality. Marv reportedly told Moulds' rep that the Bills woud not release him, that if he wanted out of Buffalo, he would have to find a trade partner. Once again, a national sports idiot making claims about a team he really doesn't cover.
  12. I like this take, but I am not sold on it. I think too much is risked in this approach. This may be the biggest place I am concerened. Teams have to overpay for som guys from time to time, and I think on the o-line is the perfect place for it, especially for the Bills. Other than Hutch, I don't think the bigger name o-linemen this year have been overpaid. OK, so they had a few visits, but it produced nothing. They should. I want to win now, and I have to believe Marv does, too.
  13. Yes, we apparently have a new starting center. But other than making a run at one RFA, the Bills have yet to make any serious, visible moves to upgrade the offensive line, which we all know has been a huge weak-spot for the team for some time. I am pretty dumbfounded by this inaction. I know there are some good prospects in the draft, but we all also know that drafting guys is never a sure thing. First, the guys we think are good may not be on the board where we want them. Second, and more importantly, no one is a sure thing. And, yeah, there are still some guys out there in free agency, and I realize the tactic Marv is using bringing people in, but the Bills really haven't had many o-linemen for visits. So, I would really like to know if I am missing something here, or has Marv been blowing smoke when he says he knows the o-line needs to be seriously addressed? Just wondering and hoping some of you great football minds can help clear this up for me.
  14. The board will explode no matter who is picked or not picked. I agree we need linemen, and luckily, there are plenty of good ones in this draft.
  15. I use to think all of upstate was cursed, but then 'Cuse won the national championship in b-ball a few years ago, so I now believe it is just Buffalo. I don't get it either. It goes way beyond just being a small market. Buffalo has to be the toughest town in which to be a homer. Oh, didn't ESPN even make us lose that contest?
  16. Yes. Oh, and when I lived in California (five years), I loved the fact that football was on so early. I use to head down the bar every Sunday morning. Nothing like watching the kickoff with a plate of eggs and bacon and a screwdriver in front of you. By the time the ESPN game came on we were all so loaded we'd have impromtu fight clubs at the bar.
  17. Very good point. That along with yet another increase in the cap could position the Bills very well in '07 to make a strong showing in free agency. That, along with another top-10 pick should help the rebuilding process. And don't forget about Crowell -- TD's last move.
  18. I agree that Houston was not on my list of possibel trading partners, but Moulds is not in complete control here as he is still under contract with the Bills, so Marv and company have just as much say in where Moulds goes as Moulds does. That said, I am really gald the Texans are in this fight. Holding the first pick in each round means any team trying to out bid them has to raise the ante by a round. Actually, I'd rather take the first pick in the 4th from Houston than the 21st pick in the third from the Patsies.
  19. I love Hawk, and I think he will do great in the NFL, but I really doubt he falls to us, and if he does, that likely means the three guys I'd really like (D'Brick, M Williams and Davis) are off the board. So, in the situation, the Bills should really trade down. The only way I'd draft Hawk is if I knew TKO wasn't coming back even close to full speed. Otherwise, we're trying to figure out how to use Spike, Fletcher, Posey, Crowell and Hawk. Maybe we could use a 2-5. All that said, I do like the trade scenario with the Chiefs, turning our extra 3rd-rounder into a 2nd-rounder.
  20. Damn, why no Bills mention?
  21. Good, the stinkin' fish can be a 1/2 game behind us before Fowler makes the first snap of the season.
  22. How do you know the primary factor? I am not saying you are wrong, but I have read several places that the NFL has not discloses what the primary factors are in determining the comp picks.
  23. Another mock from someone who obviously knows nothing about that Bills other than some stats. I firmly believe the Bills would trade down or take Bunkely or Ngata before they would take Joseph. When writers make predicitions like this, they lose creditability for everything else they scribble, too.
  24. The Bills drafting a QB = dumbest thing anyone could do this draft. The Bills have three QBs who could start in the NFL today. The Bills have good chunk of change tied up in these three. The Bills invested a lot of picks in one of these QBs. The Bills do not really know how good two of these QBs may be, and they may be very good.
  25. This is a real rough one. The Packers dropping the demand for next year's pick might make it a little easier. Walker will be a free agent at the end of '06, I believe, so the Bills should get Walker to agree to a new contract before making the trade regardless. Walker held out last year, had a season ending injury early and demands a trade this year -- not sure that sounds like the character guy Marv is looking for. I say no way to the walker + 5th = Moulds, 3rd, ('07) 4th.
