  1. FWIW: This would be a good post in the thread about trading for Shockey, but this post doesn't rate its own thread. I agree that trading down smartly would make trading away our second much easier to stomache.
  2. I hate to say it, but this deal would also make good sense marketing wise -- don't forget that the guy running the team now is a marketing guru.
  3. Not being reported on NFL Network. That said, I am fine with deal. We need a top flight TE, especially with Trent under center. And the team knows it.
  4. Outstanding points. I certainly hope your predictions prove accurate.
  5. What does that tell me? It tells me that the Bills won seven games last year. But it doesn't tell me that they had a nearly historic rash of injuires, that they had a very tough schedule, that they had a rookie RB, that they switched to a rookie QB during the season, that they played the Pats* very tough, and that they nearly beat the Cowboys and the Super Bowl Champion Giants. What did the fact that the Browns picked 3rd overall last year tell you? Or that Chicago picked 31st last year? You may also want to note the Packers only picked four spots higher last year than the Bills do tomorrow.
  6. I think a good question that comes out of all this last hour movement on the boards is what really causes these movements? I mean, for the most part these players haven't done much of anything in the past couple of weeks. I think it is jockeying by sports reporters to up their competitors by creating news, giving readers fresh material and likely simply trying to speculate on what "inside sources" are saying.
  7. That makes sense, I guess. Also, the Skins' jet also went to Merlin's Pro Day yesterday, so I guess while you're already flying around...
  8. I cannot say I'd be happy with any one who would necessarily be called a major reach. I was OK with the "reaches" of Whitner and McCargo. But I think we are too close to being a playoff contender to reach at this point. Here are the guys I'd be OK with at #11 in no particular order: Devin Thomas, Sweed, Ellis, McKelvin, Albert, Harvey, Merling, Gholston, Dorsey and Rivers. Trade down to #17 or lower, and I guess I'd thrown in Harvey, Jenkins, DRC and maybe even Fred Davis.
  9. Of course, you are ignoring the fact that last year's offseason focused mainly on the offensive side of the ball (Dockery, Walker, Whittle, Lynch, Edwards, Wright, etc.). The year before was Tripplett and Bowen. That year the Bills used their first five draft picks on the defense: Whitner, McCargo, Youboty, Simpson and Williams. Plus Ellison later on. I personally like alternating the focus each year as a team builds. That said, we also drafted Posluszny early in the 2nd last year, so even with a focus in one direction, there is room for the team to make improvements in the other. We need to come out of this draft with a 6-foot-plus WR and a pass catching TE.
  10. If that was the case, wouldn't it make more sense for the Skins to fly him to Maryland rather than the Skins' staff and QB fly to Oklahoma, which is what Redskins Radio reported happened last night?
  11. I know the Skins' owner (Danny Snyder) brought his QB (Jason Campbell) to Kelly's workout yesterday to thrown to him, so I guess the Skins are really interested.
  12. Yes, but the 'Skins are going to pick Merling. And everyone knew about his Pro Day in advance and knew why it had to be so last minute. I think Kelly would be wasting his time, and I hope the Bills are the only ones there.
  13. Nope. But I am going to have a ton of Molsons. And I might have a few Genny Cream Ales on hand, too.
  14. What are they doing handing out Tasker's number? I know it isn't up on the Wall, but it is only a matter of time.
  15. I cannot believe the Cards would trade him -- not even for two 1st round picks. They just lost their #3 WR, and Boldin is as good as they come. The Cards feel they can win now, so they will not want to enter into rebuilding their WR corps at this point. Is he better than anyone we could draft at #11? Yes, and I'd venture to say he is better than Evans by a good amount.
  16. I'd take the swap any day of the week, but I think the Bills could play is right and pull that 4th from Philly, too. Then turn around and send #19 and the fourth to the Giants for Shockey and their #31. Then draft the best remaining WR -- ta da, all the big needs are filled before the first pick of the second round!
  17. I am a reporter, and I can safely say I have looked at certian evidence over the years to ensure I wasn't being duped by a source but agreed to not report that I actually saw the evidence. Although, I would think Tomasse's story would have been a lot better if he was able to say he had obtained the tape, but I am sure he would do what he had to in order to get permission to report the info that such a tape may exist. Further, Tomasse's editors (and maybe even the publisher) most likely would have wanted to see the tape before allowing it to be reported. That said, I think it would be stupid of Walsh to have actually handed over his only copy of such a tape to the journalist. If I was Walsh, I would have made a copy, secure the original and then take the copy to the journalist and always keep that copy in my sight.
  18. I must admit, that we very written and funny. I hope it isn't too accurate this year, but I certainly can relate to it.
  19. Just before the NJ Giants hand up their card at #31, Godell will announce he has changed his mind and will allow the Pats* to pick.
  20. Forget trading down for picks. Swap picks with Philly for Sheppard and then swap Philly's pick with the Jints for Shockey. Then pick the best WR left at #31. After the first round, all three of the Bills' major needs are filled, and the team can go after whoever they want in the second round.
  21. Win -- Sept. 7 Seattle Seahawks 1 p.m. Loss -- Sept. 14 at Jacksonville Jaguars 1 p.m. Win -- Sept. 21 Oakland Raiders 1 p.m. Win -- Sept. 28 at St. Louis Rams 4:05 p.m. Win -- Oct. 5 at Arizona Cardinals 4:15 p.m. Win? -- Oct. 12 Bye Loss -- Oct. 19 San Diego Chargers 1 p.m. Win -- Oct. 26 at Miami Dolphins 1 p.m. Win -- Nov. 2 New York Jets 1 p.m. Loss -- Nov. 9 at New England Patriots* 1 p.m. Win -- Nov. 17 (Mon.) This is always the highlight of the offseason.
  22. Bills -- Fred Davis TE USC
  23. Rams -- Chris Long
  24. I agree with Connor on this, and I don't think our corners are bad in run coverage. That said, I am still hoping the Bills swap the #11 pick with Philly for #19 and Lito Sheppard.
  25. Anyone have Dick's e-mail address?
