What McKelvin Does For McGee
scribo replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, who did a good job against Moss? Not McGee. I am not sure how this relates to your argument, unless your argument is that Greer is bad. I mentioned those three because they are three of the best we faced last year. By the way, he also held D. Northcutt to five catches for 65 yards, B. Edwards had 4 for 64 and A. Toomer caught 5 for 99 yards. -
What McKelvin Does For McGee

I sure did. TO's stats: Two catches, 25 yards. Greer two PDs, five tackles, an interception and stripped the ball away from TO in the endzone on what at the time was a very important two-point conversion try. Greer nearly won the game with that. Check out this quote from the Bills' site: "Matched up with Laveranues Coles for most of the day he recorded five tackles and a pair of pass breakups. ... Midway through the fourth quarter Greer jumped Coles' route for his first career interception. ... Three days later Greer was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week." Against the Bungles, Chad Johnson caught three for a mere 48 yards. The simple fact that Greer is covering TO, CJ and Coles shows the team sees Greer as the #1 or at least a close second. Don't forget last year was Greer's first as a starter, meaning he is only going to get better while McGee has been in place for a few years. Don't get me wrong, by the way. I really like McGee and am very happy we have him signed on for a while. But I think Greer is the #1 unless McKelvin can step in at the #1 right away, which is entirely possible. -
When reading draft grades, please keep an open mind

Thank you very much for shedding a ray of reality on the Wall. -
I'm very happy with the UDFA so far. I'm not sure how J. Jones fell all the way out the of the draft, but it is our benefit. More on Viti, from the Army's team Web site: Serves as "heart and soul" of Army's offensive unit ... one of the strongest players on Army's roster ... capable of bench-pressing an Army-record 470 pounds ... rugged performer who returns to familiar starting fullback position ... "blue-collar" athlete with hard-nosed approach to game ... craves contact ... harbors great will ... possesses tremendous desire to succeed ... powerful inside runner ... features explosive burst through line of scrimmage ... catches ball well out of backfield ... devastating blocker who commonly leaves defenders on their backs ... responsible for opening large holes in opposition's front line ... key component in Army's rushing attack ... expanded production level dramatically last season as role within offense grew ... injects valued toughness into Black Knights' backfield ... battles through pain ... fiery competitor ... plays game with passion and nasty mean streak ... impact player ... one of club's top leaders on and off field ... serves as impeccable role model for younger players in program ... elected one of team's captains for 2007 season ... will share those responsibilities with classmates Caleb Campbell, Tony Fusco and Jeremy Trimble ... three-year letterman.

What McKelvin Does For McGee
scribo replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure why so many think McGee outplayed Greer last year. Well, I am not sure why anyone who watched the corners last year would think that. Did you see the Cowboys game? The Bengals? Greer shut down TO and CJ. Now, I don't think either corner was playing under ideal conditions seeing as how the opposing QBs often had hours to spend in the pocket, but Greer certainly played like the #1 CB last season. -
What McKelvin Does For McGee
scribo replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, I think it will be the opposite = McKelvin will take over the #1 CB spot, actually pushing McGee down to the #3 slot and able to focus a lot on returning to the Pro Bowl as a kick returner. -
So our corners will likely be: 1. McKelvin 2. Greer 3. McGee 4. James 5. Corner

4th Round Selection: Reggie Corner CB, Akron
scribo replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This does not make sense to me, and I look forward to hearing from the team on this. That said, it was clear before this pick that the Bills has little to no confidence in Ashton. -
RUCKER at 114 Schmitt at 132

Bah! We need Hardy and a solid pass catching TE.

ESPN's draft coverage was atrocious
scribo replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper got a full-on ass whipping yesterday courtesy of Mike Mayock. I watched both the NFL Network and ESPN the whole day, and there was no comparison -- NFL Network was far better in every aspect. -
I think it will be the oppsite...McKelvin will surplant McGee at stating CB, freeing McGee to return more.

1st Round Selection: CB Leodis McKelvin - Troy, 11th pick overall
scribo replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does he start from Week One, and if so, who does he bump? I think he takes McGee's starting job.And instead of McKelvin racking up the highlight reels, we will see McGee a lot more returning KOs for TDs and punts, too. -
The 'Skins will be lucky to win 5 games this year. Their new head coach is a joke (never even called plays for a team before, and he was fired from his last job as the Seahawks' QB coach!!!). Their need at WR wasn't THAT big. They didn't need a TE. Their defense has big holes on the line. And they lost Greggo.

I think that given Davis and Bennet are off the board, the Bills should make an early try at Shocky today. I'd give up our third, fourth and a conditional pick for next year (a thrid of fourth, depending on playing time). Anyone else still on board with going for Shockey?
-
First Thomas, then Davis and now Kelly! They are completely revamping their passing game -- very interesting. I thought we might do exactly this. It still puzzles me as to why they drafted Davis with Cooley already on their roster. My Redskins fan of a wife is very happy.
-
True enough -- good thing for us they don't have anyone to throw to Keller.

2nd Round Selection: James Hardy WR Indiana
scribo replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hardy knows how to get into the endzone, and that has been the Bills biggest problem. He is the perfect pick for us. -
I can't believe Malcolm Kelly, Sweed, and Jackson
scribo replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a lot of money for two players who will do the same exact thing. Cooley is young and just signed a longterm deal. And he is damn good. -

DAMN IT. Skins take Davis. -

Well, apparently the media blew this one big time, which I am quite delighted with. I hope Davis continues to fall...all the way to us!!!!! -
Rick Gosselin's final NFL mock draft
scribo replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think your points aboout Evans are a reason to steer away fron drafting a top WR today. First, it is very possible that Evans has already decided to leave next year. Second, Evans would likely be very happy to have a very good WR opposite him so he can stop getting doouble covered every play. Lastly, there are several teams with at least two WRs capable of being a #1 and it is working well (see the Pats* last year). -
One of the guys who will be in the war roon today (I cannot remember who, but I think it was Russ) said the Bills are sure McKelvin is a top-10 pick. My uninformed opinion on this means that the Bills are very high on McKelvin. That said, I really, really hope the Bills don't take a corner with their first pick unless the have a plan to still get Thomas, Sweed or Hardy AND a good receiving tight end.

Rick Gosselin's final NFL mock draft

The most important trait a WR needs to have to be drafted by Buffalo today is physicality. -
Lito Sheppard Traded to Tampa Bay
scribo replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL Network repoting this morning that this trade has not taken place and that the Iggles are maintaining that they won't trade Sheppard unless the price is right, meaning the right pick with the right player available. I am glad Sheppard is still available as it keep's my dream alive: swap #11 fot #19 and Sheppard. Then swap #19 for Shockey, #31 and maybe a 5th. Draft a big body WR at #31, and all three big needs are filled before the 2nd round begins. So the Bills can have free range the rest of the draft.
