  1. Mine was the meatball parm from Fera's on the Boulevard but Barb always went for the chicken finger sub from John & Mary's Mayback's is still there - highly rated for the fish frys
  2. Look around your area - what signs are posted? Note the agencies. Contact them. Some realtors will look at a neighborbood and say it is below their $$ level. I ran into that in a hot California market. There will be someone else that is interested. Zillow can be quite misleading if it is a hot market.
  3. The "Whammie Weenie" Jack Kemp and Daryle Lamonica
  4. Today Uncle Sam's is the name of a Buffalo surplus store, but back in the day it was first a disco known for its funky reverse dance floor and later one of Buffalo's earliest punk clubs. Uncle Sam's actually drew some pretty big names, too: Gang of Four, the Pretenders, the Plasmatics and the Ramones. At one point there were several other Uncle Sam's clubs operated by the same management team in Detroit, Des Moines, and Minneapolis – the last of these even made an appearance in Purple Rain. The one in Syracuse is long gone: from Syracuse.com DeWitt, N.Y. -- The former Uncle Sam's night club is going to meet the wrecking ball soon. The long-vacant building at the northeast corner of Erie Boulevard East and Bridge Street, which also operated at various times as Suburban Park, the Country Club, the Scene and Oliver's, will be demolished at the end of March, said owner Grazi Zazzara. Zazzara bought the building in 2008 for $500,000. He said he has always planned to tear down the building and develop the site for retail, a restaurant or other commercial use when a tenant could be found. He's said he's still looking for a tenant and is hoping that removing the building and cleaning up the property will help attract one. "I didn't buy it for the building," he said. "I bought it for the location." Built in the early 1960s, the building briefly housed a Polynesian restaurant before being turned into a night club. It operated under several different owners and names over the years. The building has been vacant for about 15 years and has fallen into disrepair. Three bars are still intact inside, but the building's roof is caving in. Since word got out that he is going to demolish it, Zazzara said he has been receiving calls from people telling him about their many fond memories of the place, some recalling how they met their future spouse there.
  5. I found out this last season that you can just stroll down memory lane in the parking lot - come for the tailgate - beat the traffic out. Catch the game at some bar without the $11 beers and drunken crowd.
  6. 716 is very nice but can be problematic getting into - it gets crowded. Also Downtown is the Pearl Street Brewery. Where ever you are staying there are plenty of sports bars that show the neighborhood nature of Buffalo. On Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda - Devlin's and Caputti's. On Hertel Ave - Gecko's. In Amherst by the Marriot - Santora's. Those are some of my favorites.
  7. I think back to Ditka giving "The Fridge" the ball instead of letting Walter score in a 37-3 game. The opposite of class.
  8. Mike - the Montreal or San Juan Expos? Are you dumping the Orioles or just being nostalgic?
  9. The Bills vs Dolphins was bad when it was Kelly vs Marino. But for sheer intensity the Buffalo Braves vs Boston Celtics was a lost worse. How's that for age group? And here's another no look behind the back pass by Ernie D!
  10. Back at you Scott and Family
  11. Every time Romo says "well coached team" - take a swig.
  12. The Past, Present & Future walk into a bar. Things got tense.
  13. Wild West Bills Backers in Glendale 51 Ave @ Thunderbird Glendale, Arizona 85304
  14. A couple of snippets from the BN He became the 4th QB to throw TD's for 7 different NFL teams (Testeverde, Chris Chandler and Gus Frerotte) His TD pass last week to TE Cameron Bate was an NFL first to for Harvard alums IN 5 games vs. the Bills his stats average 20/34 245 1.6 TD 1.4 Int Looking at his career stats - the conversation also brought up another long forgotten ex-Bill QB Todd Collins Seasons G/GMS % TD INT Sacks Others 9 22/4 54.7 6 5 11 Bills 3 28/17 53.3 16 19 56 .50 gm R Fitzpatrick Others 9 74/60 59.8 89 71 128 Bills 4 55/53 59.8 80 64 107 .51 gm Mea Culpa - I once paid $4 for Todd Collin's autograph
  15. When I need advice I usually talk with one of the local female bartenders. Most are younger than my daughter. They give great advice but I rarely remember it while still feeling good afterwards.
  16. Johnny Angel by Shelly Fabares. Yes, I'm that old.
  17. Mueller's Deli on Bailey Ave near UB (long gone). Kauffman rye, corned beef, smoked mozzarella and spicy brown. Huge sandwich - enough for me and the girlfriend (still wife).
  18. This season has so many young drivers competing. And I find it refreshing. Look at all the different winners. The Brickyard was thoroughly entertaining if a little protracted.
  19. Returning in September but cannot make the opener. Sights set on Denver game
  20. Space is extremely limited in Carson with parking problematic. Every home game is sold out already due to the miniscule number of seats and traffic will be horrendous in the area. You'll have to forage for your own tickets and prices are high. I have heard no plans from Santa Monica but check the SD Bills Backers. Personally for me, it's just not worth the bother. Better to spend your dollars on a more accessible site. Stub Hub is a glorified high school stadium. And the Chargers suck for doing what they did.
  21. 60 years ago - there weren't even aerial pictures of Antarctica. So, this has never happened before?
