Defensive Tackle: Is it the Players or the System?

Poona Ford was good. Didn’t play in Buffalo. Bills were 4th in sacks in 2023 with Poona Ford sitting on the bench all year. Unbelievable. -
Defensive Tackle: Is it the Players or the System?

Bills defense is generally pretty good. Last year was an expected fall. I do think the system limits players statistically. The Bills defense was 4th in sacks in 2023. Im not sure what we complain about here in Buffalo. A lot of teams would love to have our defensive success. -
Bulldogs you mean.

Too early, but looks like a poor draft. I’m not excited about anyone going into year 2.

Would you do this? Bills can sign Cook by adding 2-3 void years at the end of the contract to spread out the cap hit. You could keep the cap hits pretty low but you’d have a big cap charge if Cook gets released of walks in free agency at the end of the deal. So basically you keep Cook at a low cap number and go for a Super Bowl for 3-4 years. I think the Bills have to think about doing these types of deals as we’re basically in the middle of Allen’s prime years. We can’t worry too much about cap ramifications 4-5 years from now. I think I would do 1 of 2 things. Pay cook and add multiple void years to keep the cap low or just go with cheap RBs by committee. I wouldn’t trade Cook and also draft another RB in the 2nd round. Either spend assets on RB or don’t. If you draft another RB high in the draft you’re still using valuable assets.

Will Josh Host SNL In The Near Future?
Buffalo_Stampede replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL script writers need to hurry up and give him a Super Bowl. We’ve waited long enough. Then he can do SNL. -
AJ McCaron was the choice but got hurt. Only thing sabotaged was the Bills chances to win that game vs Baltimore. Allen probably starts from week 1 if they didn’t open on the road in Baltimore. Peterman was sacrificed. I think QBs become great in the offseason. That’s when they can work on their mechanics and improve. Allen put in the time and work to develop. He worked with his own throwing coach to improve his mechanics. The Bills facilitated the development. Good defense, added Diggs, stable environment. Allen put in the work to develop and become great. We will never know what really is the most important part of a QBs development. I think it’s more on the player. If it was more on the organization, head coach, and OC then Mac jones should be winning Super Bowls right now. I think it’s the player. But I do believe you have to put the structure and pieces around the QB so they can actually reach that potential.

Yes, no franchise is perfect. But people need to respect what McDermott has done a little more IMO. Firing him for not making a Super Bowl is insane. I actually believe he is the reason Allen had a chance to develop into what he is. Ultimately Allen’s work ethic and determination got him to where he’s at but McDermott’s organizational structure allowed Allen to develop.

If people wonder why I defend Sean McDermott. Here’s Whaley and Jim Monos to tell you why. Sean McDermott built everything. King McDermott. I’ve been saying it for a while. I never knew this video existed. Listen at 1:15 in. Monos talks about McDermott tearing everything down. It’s relevant today as McDermott just fired Eric Ciano who was hired during the Whaley/Monos era.
