Let's be honest, Josh probably has 5 good seasons left
Buffalo_Stampede replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you went off of locked in starters it should make sense. AFC is mostly younger highly drafted QBs. -
He’s still got 4 years left. I doubt the Bills continue on the same path for 4 more years. It would be one of the craziest runs in sports. 9 straight division titles and never advancing to a championship? I just don’t see it happening. I guess it’s possible because the AFC East isn’t even close to the Bills yet.

This is so wrong. Never had a defense? Let down? They literally let Josh pick his WRs. They let him pick his OC. Is this a Bills board or a Bengals board? People have got to get over this. Josh Allen controls a lot. Especially on offense. He said all offseason how much he loved Mack Hollins. Before camps started he was raving about Mack Hollins. Guess what WR lead us in snaps? Mack Hollins. Josh Allen has it great here. He had a great offensive line. He’s had one of the best defenses in the league. He has an owner that spends money. If Josh wanted a new head coach McDermott would be gone.

Let’s get the big fish but we should at least get something comparable to Leonard Floyd. They need to add a good edge player and a good 1 tech.

Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?

Joey Bosa is about to get released. -
My reaction if the Bills have to cut everyone in 2030 because of void years but we won a Super Bowl…

I just look at the position and the player. Like for Josh Allen I predict his deal will be 23% of the cap whenever he signs.
-
Key is to look at cap % when looking at contracts. Take James Cook. $15 million this year is not the same as $15 million last year. You have to take cap increases into account.

Kick the can down the road. It’s not a big can. Kick it. Edwards is a Kromer guy. There’s no reason not to extend him. Keep the OL a strength. Anderson is locked in.
-
Philly doesn’t make sense either. He has said his choice is to go somewhere to get them over the hump. To me it sounded like Buffalo. All the talk of Buffalo needing a star and then he said that. We will see.

Good but I want more. For all the streaming packages I’ve purchased it should be $285m. Maybe a bigger jump next season. The Bills could get creative. Send a pick to a 3rd team to take on Watson’s contract.
-
Forgot the key to the city. If Washington takes on Watson’s contract.
-
He’s our most consistent OG right now. Extend him a year or 2. Sign Alec Anderson next year. Then decide on what OGs to keep in 2 years. Torrence isn’t a lock to me. His price tag will be a lot higher than the other two and I don’t know if he’s worth it yet. No need to create a possible problem. If a team wants Edwards as part of a trade for a bigger piece or to move up then I would consider it. Another thing is we’ve been extremely lucky with injuries on the OL. I would rather have Alec Anderson ready to go off the bench.

There has to be a bad GM out there that will look at Epenesa having 18 sacks the last 3 years and want to trade a lower mid round pick for him. Epenesa is also the type of young player that could be used in a packaged trade. Either for another player or to trade up.

I would rather extend Edwards. Can lower his cap his substantially.

Defensive Tackle: Is it the Players or the System?
Buffalo_Stampede replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not sure. I believe Rousseau would shift inside sometimes once Von Miller returned. They had Floyd, Rousseau, Von/Epenesa all out there. They were 4th in sacks that year so maybe they should focus on getting another Leonard Floyd type, it worked. Hard to complain. We also had a a lot of DTs. Oliver, Settle, Phillips, Jones (when healthy), Linval Joseph, and Ford. We had a lot of DL. Ford seemed to be mostly insurance. When he did play he didn’t take anyone’s job. -
Yes! But they’ll say look at the QB’s in the other playoff games. Belichick has lost playoff games to Ryan Tannehill and Mark Sanchez. Andy Reid has lost playoff games to Jake Dellhome, Kerry Collins, and Brad Johnson. Another thing I think is true. The Chiefs for whatever reason get up for the Bills like no other team. I don’t know if the Bills just believe the Chiefs are going to do the same stuff they did in the regular season, but they tend to save their best for the Bills playoff matchup. I do feel like there’s something to them creating game winning plays off of plays from the first matchup. Also Mahomes seems to run more vs us in the playoffs. Mahomes running is what really wins them the game. For example, first matchup Mahomes had zero rushes. AFC championship game he had 11 for 43 yards and 2 TDs.

I always said McDermott would’ve still won a couple division titles even without Allen, that’s what I think of the division we play in. But they’ve also beat the Chiefs 4 straight times in the regular season so I don't think the Bills are only strong due to a weak division. We use the Chiefs playoff losses to diminish everything good the Bills have done. I don’t understand why. When we were losing we made excuses for why we were losing. Now when we are winning we make excuses for why we are winning. You have a team that has been successful on offense because of Josh Allen and successful on defense because of Sean McDermott. It’s that simple. They’ve been a very good team. We can talk playoff losses to the Chiefs and Bengals all day if we want but let’s not make it more than it is.
