Soooo... all of the positive we're hearing about Elam in contrast to the last couple years is basically because we lost Diggs???

Was Elam strictly going against Diggs the last 2 years???

I ask because he's reportedly making plays against multiple WRs this TC.

This is going to be one of those wait and see answers.

Two things are true. Elam having his best camp ever. Bills have no proven successful outside WRs on the roster.

Why would that be more possible? Elam was a 1st round CB. And it's not like he was overdrafted. We drafted him in the 1st round late and he was pretty universally considered a 1st/2nd rounder.

I'm not even mentioning the fact that he's a man press corner transitioning to zone...

    oh wait I just did.

It’s more possible because he’s not facing anyone that’s a proven outside WR or consider a good separator outside.

A lot of the work from Allen this camp has come over the middle. We’ll just have to wait and see how these WRs fair outside.

I kept thinking Elam was good when he played before this year. Sometimes I don’t understand what our coaches see. They will run out washed up zeros like Frank Gore, Latavius Murray, AJ Klein etc like they don’t see what everyone else can see…but then not realize guys that flash. I thought Elam was playing well every chance he got and just never got a look. I think Dorian Williams was a guy that was making plays and he just couldn’t get on the field. We were playing guys that didn’t belong in the league in the biggest game of the season over 42. There is a lot to like about McDermott but he definitely confuses me with personal decisions at times.

Elam was just inconsistent. He was never a bust.

But when I hear he’s having his best camp I asked myself who’s he even facing? Mack Hollins, MVS, Tyrell Shavers, and Keon Coleman?

None of these players are considered separators.

And who do you mean? Benford or Elam?

Benford is one of the best CBs in the NFL. But he’s injury prone. Elam will play. If he’s ready maybe he keeps the job. But Benford shouldn’t lose it in camp. I would be shocked.

He makes the team every year because he's exactly the football equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife.  He plays ST. He can play nickel, safety, and CB.  He plays none of these roles at a starting level, but then, he's not a starter.  Show me a backup who plays consistently at a starter level and I'll show you a guy starting on another team.

    Exactly.

Strange how the Bills coaches, who watch every snap, seem to think he's taking the right angle, making the tackles, and making the hits.

The major miscue that gives Bills fans PTSD about him was the 2022 Vikings game where he allowed Justin Jefferson to make a 32 yd catch on 4th and 18, starting a series of miscues that led to an OT loss.  It appears that he WENT FOR THE BALL to try to intercept, when he should have been playing to knock it down.

And we’ve seen Poyer, Hyde, and White all do the same thing to lose a game.

Cam Lewis... I hope he is not our reserve safety. I don't think I have ever watched a player that stood out to me more than him for a bad reason. I would be watching a game, and think, "Who took that terrible angle?! Who missed that tackle?! Who went for the hit and missed, and should have gone for the ball?! Who is that, that looks so lost?!"... and Cam Lewis has been that culprit a bunch... like way more than he should have, because he's barely on the field.

    Really?

I don't know if Allen will ever win an MVP. He is responsible for many TD's both passing and receiving which we all love. But Allen's style of play is an aggressive one. He has a gunslinger mentality. He is a bigger/stronger version of Brett Favre. Combine that with his abilities and he is able to make plays that maybe only Mahomes can make. The downside to that is he will turn the ball over with his gunslinger/aggressive style of play. That will hurt him some when it comes to MVP talk. While Allen will probably throw for 30 or more TD's every year and rush for 10 or more. He is also probably good for at least 15 INT's a year as well. Personally, I could care less if he wins an MVP as long as he can help the Bills win a Super Bowl. That is what really matters.

We’ll see. This offense is going to be more quick throws. I think he’ll throw less INTs this year.

The only question I have is will his other stats drop, that probably depends on his receivers/TEs.

    i should clarify

i dont care if people think allens the second, third, first or fiftieth best qb in the NFL because he doesnt have a super bowl

i do care that the buffalo bills win a super bowl

Josh Allen will win the MVP this season. There will be no more discussion after the season.
