Walter Football Mock with the Hot Take on our MLB
Buffalo_Stampede replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall
Atlanta is one that stands out. I don't know if we got that type of play every week since week 9. Like I said, we've seen the signs of what he can become. Something we've yet to see from Edmunds. -

I didn't notice it consistently. Give me a game? -

A difference maker? Occasionally. I definitely wouldn't call Oliver a difference maker. We've seen him do it, and yes he's trending up. -
They could release him but he's not giving up money and the Panthers have to pay either way. I think it's possible they just cut their ties if they can find another starter but I doubt it. They probably go with Darnold and a rookie.

Panthers are kind of stuck with him. They will have to pay $18 million if they keep or cut him.

Kareem Hunt: Cut candidate. Possible 2022 Bill?

He's a talented RB. He can be a lead RB. I'm not sure there will be better. There will be cheaper for sure. -

But couldn't we say the same for Oliver? Oliver I feel has shown dominant play at times, unlike Edmunds, but I feel overall he's been average as well. We need these defensive draft picks to step up and become more than average, at least one of them. There are a lot of 1st and 2nd round picks in the front 7 that haven't developed into more than average. -
I totally forgot they haven't replaced Schoen yet. This was probably in the works for a while.

I disagree. Plus there is very little baggage. He made a mistake years ago and it was handled. He'll have to answer questions initially if traded to a new team, but not a distraction that would last. -

They definitely aren't a dominant defense, but they are a defense that knows their responsibilities very well. -

That's why the comparison makes no sense, they're aren't equally important positions. Also I'm not suggesting Edmunds is the reason for a top ranked defense. I'm saying I highly doubt we have had a top 3 defense in 3 of Edmunds' 4 years with Edmunds playing bad football. It's highly unlikely. Sheppard would fall on his face. Is Oliver a true difference maker? -

Exactly. The debate comes when discussing how much he's worth. I don't think he's worth top money. But he's work Milano money, maybe a tad higher with league inflation. -

It's not the same because you're talking about a top defense the majority of Edmunds career. Defense has finished 1, 14, 2, and 3. Edmunds has played nearly 100% of the snaps. By far the most of any LB/DL on the Bills since entering the league. Had Tyrod Taylor's offense had that production he'd still be a starting QB. By the way that's such an odd comparison. -

I personally love Hunt. I believe I heard his name tied to the Bills last year also. -

No, I look at team performance plus his negative impact to determine if he's a liability and should be replaced. I don't see the negative impact you do. What we're missing with Edmunds is the positive impact. He doesn't make a difference on film. For the most part he's doing his job of filling his gap and covering his zone. We would know if he wasn't, and it's pretty glaring when he doesn't. But it doesn't happen often. -

He's mostly playing space rather than chasing guys around. I think the biggest issue I have with Edmunds is he's basically the same player he was 3 years ago. There isn't much growth, which is disappointing due to the fact he's been in the same system his whole career. But again I don't see him as a liability. He's a dependable player, only missed a couple games I believe. Always on the field. In our defense having a dependable Mike is huge because we play mostly nickle. -

Only thing I dislike about cover1 is they're mostly positive. I want to see more unbiased breakdowns. -

No they don't. We're a base nickle defense. -

Extend him. You have someone named Milano. -

This is kind of the dilemma with Edmunds that I think fans are having. They don't ask him to do a lot besides take up space. He's very good at taking up space. With our defense playing mostly nickel, I don't want to move on from a LB that plays nearly 100% of the snaps. He's very dependable. It's big risk to try and upgrade. https://www.espn.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/37052/bills-face-key-decision-on-extending-linebacker-tremaine-edmunds -

I would really love to hear someone argue that the Bills defensive line is strong at the point of attack. That they routinely win the line of scrimmage battle. If you can't argue this point then don't try to argue Edmunds is a bad football player. -

Later he did. He was always criticized for making tackles down field. Edmunds and Milano have lacked support from the DL. The DL does not occupy blocks in the run game. You should know that since you watch close from your Edmunds analysis. -

This is the London Fletcher debate all over again. Bills fans always complained about Fletcher. -
What the Defense is really missing...

Bengals switched it up dropped 8, played single high. Took away Mahomes quick throws and his ability to make plays out of the pocket. -

They've done very well drafting DBs. I think this year they draft another one pretty early. You're still not likely to find one that goes man vs Hill.
