Austin is small small. I’m not a fan of drafting him. This draft is pretty terrible.

I’m guessing minimum and Matakevich could be gone.

The only reason fans and media have talked about a Diggs extension now is because the Bills could save money on the cap this year. There is no other reason to extend Diggs now. Poyer and Hyde outplayed their contracts and waited until a year before UFA to get extensions. The Bills have operated like this for the most part. They don’t typically extend players with multiple years left. Diggs could be an exception.

All these receivers were UFA’s or 1 year left. Diggs 2 years left. He would be different.

He was getting worked late in the season and in the playoffs at RT.

That’s pretty much what I saw. Brown was the worst of the group. Bates the best. Smaller sample from Bates.

It’s always easier to make these decisions when you have a top 5 QB.

Restructure other contracts you mean? I would release Matakevich. They have to have room first to match if it’s front loaded. We’ll see. Do you have data on that? I felt the line was much better the last quarter of the season and in the playoffs. Spencer Brown seemed to be the weakest link at the end of the season.

Bates currently slated at $2.4 million cap hit. Bills can go a little higher but not much. Let’s see how this contract is structured.

You have to look at cap % over amount. 10 years ago Calvin Johnson signed a deal that took up 13.3%. Tyreek Hills deal is at 12% and that’s with the cap being much lower than expected. As long as revenues keep rising contracts will rise along with it. Pretty simple.

The problem is the cap is almost $20 million less than projected a few years ago. As long as the cap rises as planned teams with high paid QBs will be fine.

They have a good roster. Tough schedule to have questions about QB. Could go either way.

They’ve won 9 and 10 games with worse rosters. They will be better.
