RD 2, Pick 59: G O’Cyrus Torrence, Florida
Buffalo_Stampede replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Torrence is a beast. I can’t see him sitting for long if he doesn’t win the job outright in camp. -
What does our O-Line look like now?

He’s a reserve level OG that we signed as a free agent to start for us. That’s what happens in free agency, you overpay for starters. He’s not a better OG than Ryan Bates. Whatever you think of Bates, start your ranking there and work down to reach McGovern. I think overall they offer similar services. Why wouldn’t there be a competition for LG if Torrence wins RG? As someone said earlier we probably see a starting 5 of Dawkins-McGovern-Morse-Bates-Brown to start camp and preseason. Injuries probably will happen. One interesting thing about Bates is he can also kick outside so I wonder if that becomes a discussion if Torrence is outstanding and Brown struggles, 2 things I’m predicting will happen. -

Not as annoying as people thinking Bates was bad last year or not one of our top 5. The 2nd half of last season he was our best lineman. Sometimes I don’t think fans watch their own team. We definitely needed OG help and competition but we also needed OT competition. I wish we could go back and sign an OT instead of McGovern. -
Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
Buffalo_Stampede replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
3rd round comp is virtually guaranteed as long as we don’t spend in UFA. There are similarities between Oliver and Edmunds, only difference is Edmunds improved with a true 1T DT in front of him. Oliver didn’t do much with Jones next to him. -

People do understand McGovern is not very good right? He’s been a reserve IOL and played average at RG and C, below average at LG. But he’s a quality depth IOL at all 3 positions. Ryan Bates is a reserve IOL that played average at RG and C and above average at LG. They are very similar players that offer similar quality of play, but Bates has shown to be better on the left in a short period of time. The Bills did this already, keeping Bates on the bench when he was one of their best 5. It should definitely be a competition. It’s pretty annoying to see McGovern penciled in everywhere when he’s not a good player. Definitely not a better player than Bates in their 1 full year of starting. -

For multiple years, yes. I want all the pass rushers. We’ve been flirting with Yannick for a couple years now. It would definitely be a surprise. People have been making excuses for Oliver since after his freshman season at Houston. -

$10 million cap space is a lot more valuable than the 100th pick in the draft. The way I look at is if you don’t like a player enough to sign him long term then move him out so you can sign a player you do like long term, like Yannick Ngakoue. Don’t wait for him to walk and don’t let him eat a large chunk of the cap if he isn’t a player you like long term. -

I would’ve been fine with trading Oliver and signing Poona Ford as his replacement. Here we are. We signed Ford. -

I’ll say it again, Bates is one of best 5 linemen. McGovern can backup at all 3 IOL spots as well. Bills have an out of McGovern’s contract after 1 year. Bates is the superior player, especially at LG. Bates will win any competition at OG. -

Not sure why people are making Bates the odd man out. McGovern can also play all 3 interior positions. He essentially on a 1 year contract. Bates is the better player. He’s also better at LG. -
Dexter Lawrence 4 yrs / 90M extension with Giants

Honestly, I do believe McDermott runs the show. Also Oliver is an ok starter, I just haven’t seen anything more than that. -

You had me up until you said impactful. But I’m biased, I’ve never really liked Oliver’s game. When everyone hated on Edmunds, Oliver was it for me. Overrated big name. In college people said he’s better than this, just playing out of position. Now in the pros it’s the same thing. He is what he is. -
Should the Bills move Milano to MLB?

I don’t think it’s as big a deal as everyone thinks. -

And he accidentally texted Brian Flores also right? Ultimately stopping Tom Brady from going to Miami. It was just an accident. -

Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”
Buffalo_Stampede replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s definitely possible Von plays it out but will he be worth 20+ million in 2-3 years? Hard to say. Probably need to double that contract for Yannick. He’llprobably sign something in the 1 year up to $15 million range. Long-term probably 3 years $50 million. -

Get him signed long-term! Not only helps now but insurance when we cut Von in 2 years. -
I think Kincaid and Torrence will help more than any other rookies in the AFC East. I think the Jets have the most talent surrounding QB in the AFC East. Bills probably a close 3rd behind Miami. Rodgers can still play but the end comes quickly for QBs. We’ll just have to wait and see if his 12 INTs last year was the end coming or just a product of bad WRs.

Belichick is considered the greatest coach in NFL history for 1 reason, his QB he drafted. Brandon Beane is considered a good GM because of the QB he drafted. I read a quote today that Beane doesn’t want to go all in and risk a tear down. He believes they can go for it without going all in. This guy will only win a Super Bowl if Allen goes super human. If fans can remember Darcy Regier, that’s Brandon Beane.

Most fans felt Oliver and Edmunds were overpaid on their 5th year. Both will likely sign for much larger salaries than their 5th year. Average players clean up in free agency. Could be a common theme in Buffalo because our QB is going to make a lot and we can’t sign average players to top contracts. Bad teams will sign our average players.
