  1. Actually you could start a private club and only invite the posters that you respect their contributions to the site. It becomes pretty apparent after a while what is the wheat and what is the chaff. Like a previous poster had commented, this site seems to have been reduced to a number of clicks anyway, my problem is with the clicks seemingly trying to sabotage each others threads making them all but unreadable. We used to be eat up with Grammar Nazis, now we seem to have more than our share of people who take particular glee in shutting down threads because the topic is being discussed elsewhere, or people feigning horror at the poster who starts a thread during a game.
  2. I would like the "club option" ... IMHO, it seems that one would be able to create a club for serious posts/discussions and eliminate the trolls, crusaders, and silly pap that seems to have overrun the site lately. It gets tiring wading through the posts from people who think they are clever by posting nonsense, or starting arguments just because they get some inflated sense of manhood by the anonymous bulling that goes on here sometimes. It would be glorious to be able to discuss the offense without somebody posting that TT sucks for the billionth time, or that we shouldn't have traded Sammy for the millionth time, or suffer through countless recipes of people just trying to hijack the thread.
  3. +1 McD HAD to start Tyrod this year, he was the incumbent starter, and as bad as some here want to bash him, he's been OK over the last two years. The current coaching staff had to see if Taylor could play in the system ... they had to see if Taylors short comings were a product of Wreck's ground and pound system ... had to see if they could turn a tentative passer into an NFL caliber QB. We really don't need top tier QB, just somebody that can consistently move the chains and score a few points. I think even those who don't like Taylor have to admit he brings to the table a pretty intriguing skillset when it comes to his running abilities. IMHO there just seems to be a disconnect between his arm and his eyes and his brain. Being a Bills fan I hope the light turns on in the next game or two and he begins to tear up the league ... but I'm starting to have my doubts it will ever happen. As much as I believe McD had to start Taylor, I also believe that if Taylor's light doesn't come on in a big way the next game or two or three, he's going to HAVE to give Peterman an audition. Peterman's skill set seems to me to be the opposite of Tyrod's, he looks comfortable with a quick release throwing to a spot rather than an open receiver. I don't know if Peterman will be great, good, or terrible (the Bills fan in me hopes great) but the coaching staff needs an assessment under "live fire" to know if we just need to draft a QB early, or cash in all of our draft picks in a panic move to get the best QB we can. Bottom line; If Taylor turns out good ... I'm OK If Taylor fails but Peterman turns out good ... I'm OK If Taylor and Peterman both fail but we get a good QB in next years draft ... I'm OK I just want a damn QB.
  4. Ahhhhhhhh .... how embarrassing with me being the King of the Flutopians and all.
  5. 7th???? Hmmmm I'm too fat and lazy to look it up but; Kelly, Kemp, Fergy are probably the top three ... maybe Fitz & Bledsoe are in there ... but who could be the other???
  6. Why do you feel that Tyrod needs to be "set up to fail"? If McD & BB felt that Peterman gave the team the best chance to win they'd just start him ... they run the team ... the fans don't, the players don't. Who do you think they are "setting him up" to fail for? McD & BB made a number of controversial decisions this off season without the need to "set people up to fail" some I agree with, some I don't but the bottom line is that I truly believe they made those decisions with much MUCH more information than will ever be available to me as a fan. They were hired to build and run the team and by all accounts it looks like they are comfortable making the decisions required to do so.
  7. After watching our offense yesterday I think the prudent approach just may be for the Bills to carry two punters on the roster, with only one, his leg will be shot my mid season. just sayin'
  8. What I would like to see; The Bills start out fast, score on the first/second drive. Begin the game on top and STAY there. Score at the end of long multiple play drives. Just because we score on a 99 yard play because the Jets blew coverage doesn't mean we're good, it means the Jets are bad. If we score on the back end of a long sustained drives it bodes well for our offense. Penalties kept to a minimum, and the penalties we DO get doesn't kill our drive. If we happen to jump out to a 14/17 point lead I want to see the team keep the petal to the metal and NOT go into a shell to "protect" their lead. A high percentage of 3rd down conversions, and perfect for 4th down conversions. A bit more esoteric ... I want to see in their body language that they KNOW they will win this game, they KNOW they will dominate this game, they KNOW the Jets can't keep up. Basically I want to see the Bills impose their will on the Jets, I want to see the Jets give up hope by the end of the first quarter. Bottom line is that if they do all of those things against the Jets it will not convince me that the Bills will be a playoff team, but it Will convince me the team is on its way to changing its culture. I really think that this season (and maybe next) the Bills are going to be playing quite a few teams who's talent are heads and shoulders above ours, but I want them to dominate the teams we are better than (Jets), and win the majority of games against teams that are equal in talent (dolphins), and be competitive and fight to the bitter end with teams that are better than us (Pats*)
  9. I don't think anyone is anointing Peterman a "savior". But to my way of thinking we already know (or suspect) Taylor is not our guy going forward, and all we know about Peterman is what we can surmise from a handful of series during preseason. If Taylor starts this season he probably doesn't redeem himself to the point we are comfortable with him leading the team into the future and we are left STILL knowing nothing about Peterman. If Peterman starts, at least we get an indication of weather he can become a viable starter, a valuable backup, or is just another 5th round roster filler. IMHO, I think that the O-line is our biggest problem to fix, I've never been a fan of the zone blocking scheme, and it seems to me that our O-line coach is incapable of teaching the linemen how to line up let alone how to execute a new blocking scheme.
  10. I'm with you Finkle. As much as I hate losing players that I liked, the fact of the matter is they were only marquee players in the minds of us Bills fans, they certainly weren't marquee players because of their on field production. Had we swept the Jets (which we SHOULD have), and just split with the Dolphins (which we COULD have) last season, we would have made the playoffs. I blame sexy Rexy and his evil twin for taking our top 10 defense and turning it into a bottom 5 defense, I feel confident with the new coaching staff and a game plan that makes sense for our personnel, we will drastically improve on that side of the ball. I'm not sure who to give credit to for turning our anemic offense into something palatable, but I'm hoping our new brain trust at One Bills Drive can continue our success (and maybe even improve) our performance on that side of the ball.
  11. I have to start off saying I loved BOTH Watkins and Darby .... But looking at both trades, we get a CB of equal talent, a WR with better stats and who has proven to be more durable, and the Rams second round and Eagles third round picks. I'm on board.
  12. Wellll .... Watkins and Matthews have been in the league the same number of years and... Sammy has 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 TDs Matthews has 225 catches for 2,673 yards and 19 TDs Don't get me wrong, I loved Sammy, and would have loved to see him stay healthy all season and play well, but I don't think we are really giving up much if anything at all production wise over a season ... then add the extra draft pick we get IMHO we came out ahead on this trade.
  13. But the Gladiators union was soooooooo much weaker than the NFLPA. You never head the Gladiators whining about two-a-days, or the length of their season ... and holdouts???? There were no stinkin' holdouts.
  14. I'll take it one step further .... Add two teams (one in each conference), and then each team plays every other team in their conference once ... no cross conference games ... have your playoffs consist of the top however many teams you want within the conference, and have the Super Bowl be between the AFC and NFC champions.
  15. Not me .... I'd rather see the QB we HAVE work out, rather than hope a new QB will develop. I am neither a TT fanboy or a TT detractor, I'm just a Bills fan who wants the team to succeed. I have never understood the fan who roots for failure so the team will get rid of a player they don't happen to like. To say that you KNOW a Rosen/Allen/Falk or Darnold will be better than one of the QBs currently on the roster is just plain silly.
  16. I could be wrong cuz I'm old and often confused ... but I thought Wilson was drafted in the third, and Brady was drafted in the sixth or something like that.
  17. It MAY make sense if they mean that with Sammy on the field the offensive scheme was to "feed him the ball" and when he was not playing it forced them to spread the pass attempts around ... hence "opening up" the offense. IMHO no one in their right mind would think the offense is BETTER without Sammy on the field ... but I could see where it could be more varied.
  18. Are you talking about your anticipated formation mix for this year ..... or the number of players Rex had on the field last year?
  19. I still say Baltimore isn't really in the running ... it's a delaying tactic on his agents part ... I predict either Arizona or Chicago news about a scheduled visit to hit us out of the blue at any time. no sources ... just my thoughts.
  20. IMHO, Baltimore isn't the main threat to signing Maclin ... they just don't have the cap space. I'm more worried about Arizona and Chicago ... they are both thin at WR, and both have a metric butt ton of cap space.

  22. I always have the last word in my household ... it's usually ... "yes dear"
  23. IMHO the young man looked like he's wound a bit too tight ... he looked like a breakdown waiting to happen. Emotion is one thing ... the wild eyed ranting and raving is another.
