And why does Belinda always leave her initials as .......... NM ......

What's your problem with a #7 - #9 pick ........ don't you think that's high enough to get a quality undersized speed reciever???

Which of these potential HC candidates do you want
macaroni replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you left the REAL next head coach off of the list ..... mark my words ..... your not going to like it .......... but .... Due to the fact that the season was a sell out ..... and he saved us from "cap hell" ..... and he has been saddled with two incompetent coaching staffs ...... TD is going to stay and he will pick for his new head coach ...... drum roll please ...... Russ Grimm currently the O-line coach for the Steelers -
If I were the king of the Bills (and I'm not) I would tell McNalley to give me a list of the 5 starting linemen from our roster that he would make the starters if he had to choose right now (barring injury status) ......... I would then cut every other player on the team that thinks he's a lineman, and totally restock our club via the draft and free agency (having McNalley identify the players to persue). I'd then give McNalley through out the off season, minicamps, and preseason to manipulate the starters/backups and put together a decent line.

Where are all the Moulds Bashers Today?
macaroni replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the beginning of every season I expect my team to do well, I don't care that team X won the Super Bowl the year before .... I don't care team Y won the division last year ....... I don't care that teams a, b, c, d, and E had much better records last year ...... I ask the players on the Bills to win ..... I expect the players on the Bills to win. No excuses, just win. Now to the Moulds situation ....... IMHO ..... the Buffalo Bills are a worse team without Eric Moulds than they are with him. So I want to go on record that I want him on the team next year. I don't care what his contract status is, I don't care what his cap number is, I don't care if his feelings were hurt this year, I just want him on the team. I expect the front office to make it happen, if they have to negotiate, plead, beg, "cook the cap books", I expect as much effort from them as I expect from the players. -
All this team needs is..................
macaroni replied to shagmago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and new uniforms ...... don't forget new uniforms as a matter of fact .... we probably could stick with current management and players and just get new unis. Think about it ...... everybody will need to update their jerseys, and the fans will fill the statium every game for a chance to see the team in their new duds. -
and they have to put a better product on the field because?????????

This team has quit for the season
macaroni replied to Anon Y. Mous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
but those empty seats in the 4th quarter had already been paid for. All it means was the job for the cleanup crew a just a little bit easier. What Ralph needs to see is dwindling season ticket sales, and some games NOT being sold out before the season starts based on the "hype" spouted during the off season. The fans of WNY need to adopt the attitude of "show me a good product and I'll buy it" and divorse themselves from the attitude of "I'll buy the hype, even though it doen't come with a money back guarentee". -
What happened to freedom of speech?
macaroni replied to Stiffler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We already know his attitude (to quote TD himself) "save the postage" ..... he just doesn't want to hear what we have to say. so to just turn around his phrase a bit "save the cardboard and sharpie ink". HE'S the football expert ..... we are the unwashed masses. He dosen't have to answer the phone calls from us jerks ..... he doesn't have to read (or even look at) signs violating the scenic beauty of RWS. TD can isolate himself from just about any protest we fans can come up with, except one. As long as butts are in the seats, TD can continue on his merry way unphased, but as season ticket sales begin to fall off (and they will if this continues) and the threat of empty seats starting to outnumber the filled ones (I'd bet in another season or two) he'll have a real reason to sweat ..... and he WILL hear our message. -
O-Line Not as Important as Skill Positions
macaroni replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ........ what this team needs more than an upgrade in the skill positions OR an upgrade of the O-line is to develop a "personality". Figure out what they want to focus on, and game plan and practice and draft accordingly. What I'm saying is ...... if we decide we are going to be a smash mouth running team (ala da' bears & steelers), we need to BE a smash mouth running team. We need to force our opponents to not only put 7 or 8 men at the line of scrimage, but make them cheat the remaining 3 or 4 towards the LOS to stop the run. We need to "bash and smash" straight ahead helmet to helmet, manno a manno, until the passing game opens up. if we decide to be a finesse running team (ala the Chargers) we need to be a little bit quicker, more elusive, more athletic. Run the sweeps, throw the screens and quick outs that spread the opponents from side to side ..... but we HAVE to continue doing that until the defense is paper thin up the middle and no longer covering the long routes. If we want to be a "bombs away" (ala the Colts) we need a brick wall line that refuses to let anyone past them, once we establish the downfield pass, we have to beat the opponent over the head with it until they couldn't even fathom covering a run at the LOS. Bottom line .... the point I'm trying to make is we need to do one thing, and one thing only, we have to do it well, we have to make our opponents fear whatever it is ........ once we get to that point ...... the opponents will "give us" the other aspects of the game. IMHO ...... our Bills were in trouble 5 years ago .... cap space and age wise, we HAD to clean house, and we did. What the problem is, TD etal tried to "get better" all at once by plugging in a "skill player" here and there, and a new coachs and assistants. They didn't have a cogent blueprint to rebuild the team (as a matter of fact they refused to even admit we were rebuilding), they didn't have a vision of what they wanted to build ...... When all is said and done, and the dust of this season settles ..... we stink, and STILL don't have a direction that we're going toward improvement. -
I think you may be over critical of Green ..... while I agree the team isn't doing well right now ........ they have certianly been improving under his tutalage ..... I predict they WILL be playing well within the next yeqar or two. When he got to Arizona they were a team that was as bad off or worse than the Bills are now .... the Cards performance has been noticable improved over the last two years. This year they pretty much have the offensive weapons in place .... I predict this offseason and during the draft they will be working on the defense. If anyone thinks the Bills will correct all of their problems by next season, I'm afraid they just may be mistaken ...... all we can hope for over the next year or two is improvement, and a steady LOGICAL rebuilding process.

Am I the only one who thinks Losman is better?
macaroni replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the risk of sounding like one of our ex-presidents ....... It depends on how you define "a better QB at this piont". In my opinion Holcolmb is the better overall QB at this point in time, there are some things he CAN'T do that JP CAN do for sure ...... but overall ..... he controls a game better ..... and is way more consistant. BUT, in the overall scope of the universe ..... the things JP needs to improve on comes with experiance ..... he may develop them .... he may not ..... but the fact is he needs the playing time to have a chance to develop them. If your question is which one "plays a better game" at the QB position right now, right here .... I think Kelly wins hands down .......... however if your question is who is the better choice to be playing right here right now (despite the eventual outcome of an individual game) I think JP wins hands down. -
I stand corrected ....... who says you can't teach an old dog a new trick once in a while.

This game could be a nightmare scenario for TD
macaroni replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that this game could be a nightmare ........ but not for TD or MM or RW ... it could very well turn into a nightmare for the Bills fans of WNY. The crowd will be angry ..... they will be drunk ..... and if the game turns into a rout for the Broncs ...... The crowd may get ugly. We Bills fans have a habit of being out of control horses butts during "prime time" games ....... just wait .... just watch ..... it's just a matter of time before some drunk idiot does something stupid. If you think the constatnt media adoration of Brewski during his "comeback" game was vomit inducing ...... the media blasting of the unruly Buffalo fans will be even worse. -
I'm real confused as to what the whole deal IS with the Clements demotion .... I know we as the Bills nation were unhappy with the unimaginative playcalling, and the use of "goofy" trick plays, and had assumed the HC was too. However, I haven't really seen a dramatic change in the philosophy of the Bills gameplans, or a lessining of head scratching trick plays. I am not expert enough to be able to see a subtle change in gameplans ....... but it still looks like the same old stuff is being called. I have kind of justified the whole mess in my pea sized brain (and could very well be wrong) thathis demotion wasn't so much a difference in philosophy, but a result in a personal "tiff" between MM and Clements that MM has handled the same way as he handled his "differences" between himself and Adams and Moulds (and I'm beginning to think Mike Williams as well). Have any of the more astute amoung us actually SEEN a difference in playcalling since MM has taken over?????? An inquiring (but small) mind wants to know>
-
so I guess the obverse is also true ...... if Williams and Anderson are here there here for a reason .......... methinks the reason is that John Guy may not be all that you suspect he is.
-
no unfortunanatly we don't ....... we have to pick from what's available ...... the poster just said that Tucker wasn't the answer ........ I was just wondering exactly what he thinks the answer is.
-
Que the scarey music ............ here we are at Ralph Wilson stadium ..... the Bills are playing the Pats for the first time in the 2006 season ........ the TV camera zooms in on Ross Tucker (who has won a starting spot on the Pats line) and the announcers start the "love fest" of how little Rossi Tucker (not unlike Ted Brewski of last year) overcame a horrific back injury and start to track his "hit opportunities" stats while barraging us with Tucker trivia, back injury trivia, and "hero" songs ............. (now doesn't just the thought of that give you that "vomitty" taste in the back of your throat???))
-
He is neither on our active roster, practice squad, injured reserve list, nor has he been reciently cut from the squad and spent the first 3/4 of the year patiently waiting by his phone for a chance to play again. So please limit your answers to players in those catagories ....... now WHAT is the correct answer Anderson, Williams, or Tucker????
-
The question is ......... who is the better left guard, Ross Tucker, Bennie Anderson, or Mike Williams?
-
The Flutopians (me included) preferred Doug over RJ because we knew the Bills had a piss poor line and Flutie "hid" that weakness ........ the Johsonians, always felt that Rob possesed good physical talents (and the even minded flutopians agreed), but his development was stunted by piss poor line play ...... the Drew supporters liked Drew and didn't blame his failures on his "head and feet" but realized most of the problem was with piss poor line play .... and this year ... while I realize some (or even most) of JPs problems are caused by his inexperiance, I also believe at least some of the problems can be blaimed on (once again) piss poor line play. Now I don't know off the top of my head exactly how many years we are covering here ........ but what makes you think the light has finally gone on at one Bills drive that will get us some linemen by next year.

Plus he REFUSES to wear a headset.

I guess I'm afraid we can't get the few remaining "puzzle pieces" in place if we don't know what the puzzle looks like. Are we a smash mouth running team like the Steelers ...... are we a bombs away team like the Colts ........ are we a field position team just doing enough on offense and letting our defense dominate the game like the Bears??? While I agree with everybody that our rebuilding HAS to center around the lines .... but what TYPE of players are we looking for?
-
In my 45+ years of football "fandom" I think I've come to a conclusion about coaches ......... there are two types. Yeah yeah yeah ...... I know ...... there are good coaches and bad coaches .... But I'm not talking good/bad. I think there are coaches who are very good at building a team. Starting from the ground up, taking a disfunctional organization without an on-field personality .... tearing it down to parade rest, and rebuilding it to a respectable level. There are also coaches who are good at "tweaking" an already respectible team, adding that one or two missing links ..... building depth ..... maintaining an even keel for a period of time by the addition, subtraction, or replacement of a player here or there. The catch is ....... good "builders" are not neccisarily good "tweakers" and vice-a-versa. There are exceptions for sure .... but they are exceptions. IMHO ....... two good examples of "builders" are Jim Mora Sr. and don't laugh Jerry Glanvile. Both of these coaches actually did a pretty good job of taking toilet bowl teams lacking talent, heart, and personality. Their problem is once they get a team to a level of respectibility (respectability on the field, not in the community) they are lost ....... they don't know how to analyze a team and identify the one or two holes that need patching. A good example of a tweaker may be Belicheck ..... he failed miserably trying to build a team and give it a personality in Cleavland .... but at last report he's doing OK tweaking his current team. Dungy looks like another "tweaker" to me ...... as a matter of fact he commented himself that Mora pretty much put the Colts together and he was just required to make minor adjustments. I think the classic example of the exception is the Tuna down in Dallas ...... as a matter of fact I think he enjoys the "building process" more than the "maintenance process" ....... but his history shows he's pretty darn good at both. I gues my point in all this is .......... I'm not sure at this point do we need a "builder" or "tweaker" .......... keeping in mind, in all probability ...... once the "builder" gets us to a ligit consistant 8-8 or 9-7, we will need to dump him to look for our "tweaker" If we hire a "tweaker" we may be in for a few more years of trying to plug in that one or two skill players to make us winners. Do you guys and gals feel like we need to hire a builder or a tweaker after we escort this staff out of town?
