Culpepper to be traded within 24 hours
macaroni replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
An interesting aside ........ on Mike & Mike this morning they were ruminating that IF Daunte went to the Raiders, the Raiders MAY be dumping Moss because of the "history" between Moss and Culpepper. Now I've never been a big Moss fan (because of his off field antics) ........... but ..... it seems the Bills very well may be looking for a reciever in the near future ........ any thoughts one way or another from the "experts" here at TBD -
Reached incentives????????? On this team??????? What the hell were the incentives ............ money for showing up .......... certianly nobody reached any incentives that involved positive statistics on the playing field.

If I had a deep inside informant (and I don't) ........ He/she may have told me one of the reasons that Eric Moulds did not make more "noise" about his little "tiff" with MM and subsequent suspension, was that ol' Ralph told him that after the season TD et al would be gone, and he was bringing Marv back to "right the ship". He/she may have also said that Ralph assured Eric that the Bills would like to work something out to keep Eric a Bill for the rest of his career ...... and as long as both sides stayed reasonable in their negotiations it could be worked out. Now keeping in mind that I don't have a source, and they never told me this .... my feelings are as long as the Bills give Eric a REASONABLE offer, he will stay, however, Eric does feel he is one of the better WRs in the league and expects to draw a paycheck as such. He very well may give the Bills a "home team discount" .... but he's not staying for chump change.

and, if I remember correctly ......... the highest paid member on this years team just happened to be a lineman.

The Bills Record the Next Three Years
macaroni replied to Beerstm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6-10 for the first year very well MAY be too optimistic. If Moulds, Adams, & Clements leave ...... if JP doesn't improve significantly .... if the O-line doesn't get overhauled (and gel quickly), ...... if a viable pass catching TE doesn't show up on our roster during gametime ........ if Willis doesn't start to impose HIS will on the opposing team ..... if we don't come up with a good DT or two ........ if TKO doesn't recover 100% from his injury ........ if our safeties play even a year older (read slower). 6-10 may be looking like a pipedream to us by mid season next year -
Even though I'm rooting for Sherman ....... I think it is more of a whole package kind of thing. So before I would deem hiring Jauron as an utter failure, I want to see who the assistant coaches are going to be.

Does anyone feel they know what we got in JP?
macaroni replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not that I've written him off ......... it's I haven't become enamored with him yet ......... he just hasn't given me much to get jazzed up about. IMHO ....... at this point in time ...... he sucks However ...... at this point in time we should EXPECT him to suck, he's young, he's green, he's inexperianced, the continuity hasn't been there for the team in years, the O-line stinks, etc, etc, etc. Now as a Bills fan, I hope he improves ..... as far as how rapidly, I just don't know, but at this point I'm still willing to make excuses for his "suckatude". During the first four games I was ALMOST willing to throw in the towel on him because I didn't even see a glimmer of improvement ........ in the games he played after his benching I thought his play did in fact improve a bit from game to game, but I'm not willing to crown him the future of the franchise just yet. -
You can cross off Caldwell as HC...
macaroni replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I seem to remember in one of Saprano's posts he/she (funny how we all assume she/he is a he) said there was a "slight glich" and things would be worked out ..... now putting two and two together (and getting seven) ..... what I think the deal is ........ OBD THOUGHT the Lofton interview satisfied the "Rooney rule" ...... but were told otherwise by the league so Marve and Ralph had to shuffle another VIABLE candidate of color through the interview process to get the blessing of the league. Maybe that's why no announcement at the end of the week ....... my guess we'll know by Monday. -
FWIW I don't care if he is Ralph Wilson, some other insider, or just another poster who is searching the net for info, and compiling it into a conclusion/hypothisis. The fact remains he has been pretty darn accurate, with any anomilies certianly understandable or explainable. I for one look forward to reading his posts, it certianly seems he has been more "informed" than the rest of us AND the media (both local and national).

What strange timeing ...... I would think that with the announcement of the new head coach being any day now, that the Bills would wait to sign any significant numbers of free agents in order to get the head coaches input.

"Jimmy Johnsons" don't always win
macaroni replied to Gardinier's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
pi$$ off ...................... Oh yeah ............. YOUR FIRED -
IMHO ......... I think the answers are yes to #1 .......... and kinda to #2 Let me explain It's my opinion that all the fans really REALLY want is to win ....... sure, sure, sure who the actual coach is ..... who we are drafting ...... what free agents we are keeping ...... which free agents we are picking up ....... is fine "grist for the mill" at this point in time to dicuss and even argue over. But bottom line ....... if the home team starts to string wins on the scoreboard, all of our misguided "opinions" will be forgotten and forgiven. so the answer to #1 is YES ..... Marv and Ralph know if they build a winner the team (and coach) will be popular with the fans. and for #2, while Marv and Ralph may not know WHO we want ...... they know WHAT we want.

I think that we also gave Bobby April a formal interview .......... but even at that, yes I think we maybe should have interviewed more candidates.

V-Coach - Bills interviewing Lofton today
macaroni replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well it definetly means they've decided on one of the two ....... but my gut feeling is if Juron was the clear cut winner, Lofton would have been interviewed instead of Sherman, and Juron would have already been named as our HC. -
I'm not sure it's so easy as a Sherman or Juron pick ....... I would think much of the selection will depend on issues agreed upon during the interview process. For example ......... when asked about their anticipated staff ..... Sherman could say ....... Bates hates my guts and would never follow me to Buffalo, I hate the thought of retaining any of your current people and want to hire my own staff ..... however unfortunatly everybody from Greenbay hates me, and I never expected to get fired so I haven't really thought about who I'd get. and Juron could have said Gee, in anticipation I've already talked to Jim Haslett and he gave me verbal acknowledgment that if I get hired as a HC he'd love to be my DC especially in Buffalo, as far as an OC, I really think Wyche could handle the job, I'd enjoy working with him and he'd provide the continuity we need for the offense ........ and BOY-O-BOY your special teams really rocked last year ...... I'm REALLY looking forward to working with Bobby April. I'm not saying that's what happened ..... or saying I hope it happened that way .... my avitar clearly shows who I think would be better ....... but there MAY be reasons why Juron looks like a better fit for the Bills at this point.
-
OK ........ assume we will get either Sherman/Bates ... or ... Juron/Haslett (I have no idea of a possible/probable/desirable OC)

Don't we have to interview a minority candidate?
macaroni replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now let me get this straight ............ A racist owner refuses to even interview an African American candidate (no matter how qualified he may be) ...... and all of a sudden a rule that forces him to interview a token candidate has changed his outlook to the point that makes him willing to hire said candidate????? Methinks not. It's mearly a coincidence that SOME of the NFL ownership has become "enlightened" and is willing to hire the right person for the job no matter what color. -
Not a fan of Payton but i like this quote..
macaroni replied to Zac's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No .............. that means he'd have his best players on the field for third down. Now if Willis IS our best player ........... now that is a question of a diffent color -
IMHO ......... I think he has a point in as far as he felt abandoned at One Bills Drive, with Ralph, Marv, and Tom scattered all over the map. IMHO, being the "top dog in residence" having to pull the organization out of chaos just kind of freaked him out a bit. BUT ....... if I were MM (and I'm not) ...... I would have looked at that as a sign that the "real" top dogs had confidence in my abilities to actually LEAD this organization, and as a signal from above to actually put MY thumbprint on the team. I want a guy with enough confidence in himself and his abilities to actually RUN the offices at One Bills Drive.

Levy's first 2 BIG mistakes
macaroni replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK ....... name the top five Special teams coaches in the NFL ....... name the top five O-line coaches in the NFL ......... name the top five QB coaches. If Bobby April, Sam Wyche and "Mouse" are not on your lists, then IMHO you don't know coaches .......... now if the organization can find upgrades I just may agree with you ........ but if I were Marv (and I'm not) then I'd be trying to keep those guys on the staff if at all possible. -
Wait just one cotton pickin minute ....... Exactly WHAT does Wilson have to prove to anybody? He signs the checks, that's what the owner is supposed to do. He puts "football people" in charge of his football operation, sometimes it works ..... sometimes it doesn't, but when it doesn't, he cleans house and starts all over again.

but I DO know ................ We will hire a new coaching staff ....... and ...... 20% of the posters at TBD will say the new staff will immediatly turn the franchise around and predict a Super Bowl win this next season. 20% of the posters at TBD will say the new staff is the worst possible picks that the team could have made, and predict the team will be moving to ______ (fill in the blank) within the next three years. 60% of the posters will just get sick of all of the bickering and start posting less and less.

I think we should get Clark Kent as QB

I think we should get Clark Kent as QB
macaroni replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we get Superman/Clark Kent for QB ........... could we draft the Flash in the second round as a Wide Reciever .................. he's pretty small ....... but he's fast as heck.
