Would You Rather Go 8-8 With Holcomb
macaroni replied to Buffalo Baumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's kind of a loaded question ......... 4 - 12 with Losman would indicate JP just doesn't have the talent to be an NFL QB .............. However 8 - 8 with Holcomb .... now that would be interesting ........ does anybody really REALLY think this team is going to finish any better than 8 - 8 no matter WHO the QB is???????? So I guess 8 - 8 would give us the QB of the future. Best of both worlds would be if J.P. could give us an 8 - 8 ............ then I would consider his season a sucess, and the Bills well on their way of rebuilding the team. -
The most glaring evidence why we have not

Why not go all the way back and hold training camp at the Camelot Motor Inn -
But I think the MAIN difference was that Big Ben replaced an INJURED vet ..... the other vets on the team could have very easily taken the attitude .... we have to "help the kid out" to maintain our season until Maddox returns ...... then of course Ben puts the winning streak together, and the rest is history. With JP ..... the Bills cut the vet QB (without any competition for the job I may add) and HAND the job to JP ....... IMHO ..... that illuminates a very ugly policy in the minds of every vet on the team, who inturn unfairly "blame" the rookie.

3rd Annual "Dinner's On Me, Smartass" Contest

Sep 10 @New England .... Loss Sep 17 @Miami .... Loss Sep 24 N.Y. Jets .... loss Oct 1 Minnesota .... WIN Oct 8 @Chicago .... loss Oct 15 @Detroit .... WIN Oct 22 New England .... loss Nov 5 Green Bay .... WIN Nov 12 @Indianapolis .... loss Nov 19 @Houston .... WIN Nov 26 Jacksonville .... loss Dec 3 San Diego .... loss Dec 10 @N.Y. Jets .... loss Dec 17 Miami .... loss Dec 24 Tennessee .... WIN Dec 31 @Baltimore .... loss There you have it ........ 5 - 11, but it may not be as bad as it sounds. IMHO, we will finally have the answer of who is our QB (I don't know now ..... but I'll have strong feelings as of 31 December ....... we'll know who on this team has the intestinal fortatude to fight for every play, even when the cause seems hopeless .... think of it as culling the herd) I think this is year one of the rebuilding/maturization process of a football team and I officially start the season with low expectations, but high hopes. (hopefully I'm eliminated three times over by Sept 24th) -
IMHO ....... JP's "leadership (or lack thereof) issue" is a moot point ...... given playing time, and assuming an increase in performance, leadership will improve. Afterall, JP was basically a rookie that was handed the starting job sans any type of competition ......... not exactly a leadership instilling situation. I for one do not question his leadership abilities ........... his accuracy is in grave doubt ...... but not leadership. Also IMHO ......... (and I know you didn't talk to me) I think Losman SHOULD have been benched, he was stinkin' up the joint, and needed time to sit back ..... take a breather ....... and THINK a bit about what it takes to perform as a starting QB ...... you must admit he played a bit better his second time around. As far as his second benching ........ I'm not sure what the heck that was all about ..... injury?????? .......... sinking coaching staff trying to get an extra 1 or 2 wins to save their job????? ......... I don't know.

B4 requesting a refund on my Season Ticket...
macaroni replied to cåblelady's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me preface this with ........ I am NOT a JP losman fan as of yet ..... but the "trade JP rumor" is just that, a rumor. Think about it, if our last drafted QB just didn't "have it" (at least in the eyes of the new administration) don't you think they would be ready willing and able to go after the two primere EXPERIANCED QBs this off season ....... say what you want about the injury questions surronding Culpepper and Brees ....... I'd take either one above drafting ANY QB out of college. I'm not saying we aren't trading JP because we didn't get Culpepper or Brees ..... I'm saying the thought of trading JP has never entered the minds of One Bills Drive because we didn't even talk to Culpepper or Brees. IMHO ...... on a team as bad as we are, nobody ...... and I mean NOBODY should be untouchable for the right price, but to even think JPs head is poised on the chopping block is just silly. -

No ......... what I'm saying is that given the choice of playing professional football in toadsuck Arkansas or selling used cars anywhere in the country ........ I'm picking football. For the established player if my choice is playing football in _________ (fill in the blank with your favorite city) or playing in Buffalo ........ then it comes down to money and opportunity to contribute ........... weather, schools, taxes, etc etc etc don't effect me if my family lives anywhere they want, and I'm only spending four or five months (on and off) in my "teams city". -

All that we need to offer is a position on a football team ........ a chance to play a significant role in building a winner ...... and a competitive salary. Every thing else is just so much BS ......... these guys are football payers, they want to make a living playing football. There are a very limited number of openings, and very few players intend to actually live in the city that they play, so playing in a rust belt city is no big deal. -
Without knowing anything about Faine, I'd hazard a bet he was/is better than the center or either guard we had starting on our team last year. ............ I don't know what kind of money we'd be talking, but he may be worth a shot

Reggie Wells - OL - tendered offer sheet
macaroni replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I may be both stupid AND unrealistic (but I think it's pretty poor form of you to call me such, you don't even know me) ........ but I still don't think the Wells deal is a done deal ..... we may lose him when all is said and done, but I think if the Cards really wanted to protect him they would have given him a more lucrative initial offer, that way they'd be in a win/win situation. As it is a team could offer Wells a "stupid money" contract and all the Cards would get in compesation is a 6th round draft pick. As far as Neal goes I agree with you 100% (even if we DO land Wells) I think he should be our primary target and we should work very VERY hard to get him. -
Marv's concept is obvious.....
macaroni replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's just my opinion ...... but ...... I think the Bills aren't a team on the brink of greatness, they're a team on the brink of "averageness". We didn't stink last year because of a lack of a super star or two, we stunk because we couldn't find five decent offensive linemen, we stunk because we couldn't field four defensive linemen that could play as a cohesive unit, we lost because we didn't have a TE that could pass catch AND block on a journeymans level, we lost because we had a QB that either couldn't hit an open reciever or one that couldn't throw further than five yards. Most good football teams are made up of mostly good players, with a FEW gamebreaking superstars thrown in. There are exceptions of course ....... teams without the "super stars" that overcome with superior teamwork ....... and a team or two who are built so well that they have "stockpiled" superstars. But at this point in time, our beloved Bills needs to start filling our roster with massive quantities of bodies with enough "upside" we can field a team ...... maybe in a year our two we can spend our time and money looking for that one or two gamebreaking player. -
Reggie Wells - OL - tendered offer sheet
macaroni replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In addition ............ OUR best O-lineman was an undrafted TE playing out of position. IMHO ........ the brain trust needs to bring in a metric butt ton of young linemen and spend the time between now and the start of the season seperating the wheat from the chaff to establish a base which will be improved (next year) with the addition of a big dollar veteran star or two. Last year we didn't have five viable starter quality linemen, and absolutly zero backups. -
Reggie Wells - OL - tendered offer sheet
macaroni replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think Wells is in fact gone ......... I do believe (I could be wrong) that Arizona could have got a higher compensary pick by upping their initial tender offer without breaking the bank. I would seem to me that the Cards could have tendered an offer which would equate to a third round pick without offering "stupid money" and while that wouldn't preclude some other team from offering a contract in the stupid money relm ....... at least the Cards would get something worthwhile in return. Is my viewpoint on how the compensary pick incorrect?????? Is it predicated solely on where the player was originally drafted, or does the tendered offer come into play?????? -
John Riggins on Sirius Radio about Bills QBs
macaroni replied to kota's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO, you have hit the nail on the head. My personal preference is a QB that dinks and dunks his way down the field (therefore I like Kelly), but I also appreciate the excitement and game breaking ability of a QB who is a "gunslinger type" (ala' JP). However, having a "gunslinger" starter, with a "dunk and dink" back-up (or vice-a-versa) never has made sense to me. If I were an NFL GM (and I'm not), I would build my offense to have a specific personality, either we are a running team, a dink and dunk (read west coast offense), or a go for the juggler, mad bomber type of team. If the brain trust at One Bills Drive feels that JP is our future (which I suspect is true) they need to mould the team accordingly, back-ups included. -
Levy on the verge of destroying his legacy.

Different sport ........ different situation. Where as any number of cities would be falling all over themselves to woo an NFL team, where the fans can afford $150 tickets, and $50 parking, and sell out millions of dollars worth of luxury boxes, and provide big local TV/radio monies, and millions of local government "fringes". Hockey just doesn't have the same panache .......... as a matter of fact, after the latest work stoppage, interest in hockey outside of the cities where each team plays is marginal at best. -

You need to be careful about you wish for ......... IMHO ..... Golisano is a business man, he will do what is necessary to make a profit (that's not a knock on him ... that's what businessmen are supposed to do). Western New York just can not support a team to the level of the "high rollers" in the league. Look at ticket prices around the NFL ....... look at parking fees ....... look at the consessions local governments are willing (and able) to offer the owners to stay in the city. Ralph is "old school". While he owned the club, the Bills have never moved to greener pastures simply because the Buffalo Bills were from Buffalo. He considered the team as something permanent, a monument, as it were, that he has built, NOT a nomadic money making machine. Ralph has embraced Buffalo even though it was his third choice for a location to build a team (his first being Detroit, second Miami). For everyone clamoring for a "new breed" of owner ......... hopefully we don't get one that expects any significant return on their 600 - 800 Million dollar investment. -
Interesting Bills Report Article

If I'm Levy and Jauron and am less than 50% sure that JP will succeed I would NOT draft another rookie QB no matter HOW highly hyped he is out of college ..... mainly because you can't be much more than 50% sure he will pan out in the NFL ......... I make a four engine run on either Brees or Culpepper. -
Interesting Bills Report Article
macaroni replied to DevilsAlum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry ........ But IMHO ....... if Marv was as down on JP as Mr. Moran claims, why wasn't the Bills name even mentioned as being interested in the Brees/Culpepper free agency. Say all you want about the potential of the soon to be rookie QBs, both Brees and Culpepper have demonstrated they can produce on an NFL field ..... drafting a QB and annoiting him the "franchise" is a crap shoot as we all know. For every phenom, there are multiple Ryan Leafs and Jeff Georges ..... if the brain trust at One Bills Drive was truely looking to replace JP ...... we would have at least been compeating to sign the only bonified starter quality QBs out there. I am not a JP supporter ........ as a matter of fact, IMHO, at this point I think he sucks ..... but I AM hoping he gets better like all of us Bills fans. -
Nothing says he actually LEFT town .......... scheduling conflicts could be he was scheduled for an interview with the coaching staff ......... could be an appointment with the Bills legal dept to discuss contract terms ...... could be an appointment with the equipment manager for a uniform fitting ........... or it could be ........ he had an early flight out of town, but the link says nothing about him leaving.

Oops ....... my bad ....... I got my rumors mixed up ....... the second day pick was for Patrick Ramsey, NOT Walker ....... thaks for jogging my memory now that my memory has been thoughly joggeled I need a nap

I have heard a rumor ........ from a well placed rumor monger, the GB is looking for a "second day" draft pick for JW. If that were even remotely true ....... I'd go for it in a heart beat.
