Joey Porter Talking Trash About pats*
macaroni replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wellllllllll ........ Those quotes are just a bit out of context ..... I heard a replay of this interview, as well as a follow-on interview where he basically reiterated the same thing. The original question was were they going to play the p*ts any different since Brady was out. His response was to the effect that Cassel was not Brady and that the P*ts have changed their game to allow for Cassels inexperiance. They don't have to worry about 23 straight passes, they don't have to worry about an agressive down field passing game. They don't have to worry about the P*ts scoring a zillion points. He pointed out that Cassel while not a rookie has only started a few games and the key was to throw everything including the kitchen sink at him (a stategy if tried on Brady would mean certian death). thought in parens are my own Although I feel Porter is discounting the abilities of the P*ts team as a whole, as well as discounting the ineptatude of his own, I see nothing wrong with what he has to say. Picture a reporter asking how team "A" is going to defend team "B" who is starting a rookie QB. The player from team "A" says ....... that's easy, we are throwing everything we've got at him to confuse him, he's not as good or experianced as their starter. IMHO ...... this whole thing is media spin to create a story -
Don't get me wrong .... the "for TE's sake" wasn't meant as a knock against Trent. My reasoning is that Trent is an inexperianced QB, he needs to get his feet firmly planted in the QBing game ..... needs to build up his confidence. I think we DO have the personnel to engage in a shootout with the best of the NFL when we talk recievers running routs and catching the ball, and when we talk about O-line protecting the QB and giving him a stable pocket to launch from, and even talking about RB's and a Tight End capable of providing the "outlet pass catcher" ....... the only thing we are lacking is that gunslinger experianced QB (which I believe TE will become) who can "chuck the rock". I think this coaching staff is keeping a tight reign on TE with mostly high percentage routes .... even to the point of designing the running game mostly inside away from the parimeter to keep the defenders tucked in close further opening up the pass routes. So far we haven't needed TE to take riskes and that plays into our hands because every game builds on TE's experiance level and confidence. IMHO ...... when the day does come that we need the flurry of bombs (and it WILL come before our season is done) TE will be ready and will surprise everybody.
-
IMHO .... I think the Bills are keeping it simple for TE's sake, not that it's a bad thing, I just don't see the O blow up in a flurry of "big play" scores. I see us marching down the field in dribs and dabs with an occasional big play thrown in. As long as we win it's all good. I still see the Bills winning handily, but the Raiders don't die in a fiery explosion ......... it will be more like they get pecked to death by a duck.
-
Oh come on ...... you don't expect me to believe you are actually a Raider fan trolling on our board do you?????? You really are one of our old tried and true poster's alter egos just stirring the pot for fun right? ICE ....... is that you???????

I don't know if I've been a fan longer ........ but I remember when they wore silver helmets, and going to the Camalot Motor Lodge to watch them practice.

IMHO ... for what it's worth I also say just the two wins against wounded teams don't mean much as far as being a yardstick for the abilities of this team ...... but .... also IMHO The things that DO speak volumes are; 1.) Our inexperianced QB played well on the road, he did not panic in the third quarter when it looked like the wheels were about to fall off our bandwagon. TE just went and continued playing with confidence within his gameplan and the team rallied to take back the game. 2.) Our team is NOT commiting stupid drive killing fouls .... sure we've been called on a few, but those false starts, off sides, holding penalties have pretty much been held to a minimum. 3.) The Bills are playing hard from the opening whistle until the closing gun ..... no more protecting a two point lead by going into the prevent defense. 4.) Even though Seattle and Jax had injuries rendering their offense less than it could be, their real strength has always been in their defense, which we performed rather well against. So yeah .... I agree ... we just beat two crippled teams ...... but I LOVE the way we've beat them.

Will Poz be fined for that facemask on MJD?
macaroni replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually it only rotated 1/2 of a revolution .......... maybe they'll only fine him 2500 ........ LOL -
Our running game is well.......awful
macaroni replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm kind of in the same boat ..... I want to see the electrifying runner .... somebody who everytime they touch the ball there is a possibility of that loooooooong run and I just don't see it from this team. BUT I don't think that is what Turk is looking for from his offense, it seems to me he is designing a gameplan to chew up the clock with short passes and "smash mouth" runs with just enough of a smattering of downfield passes and cutsie running plays to keep the D guessing while driving in for the score. As all the previous posters have said ...... we're 2 and OH verses some pretty stout defensive teams, so I can't argue with that. As far as I'm concerned I'll gladly give up the LT, Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore kind of numbers for our RBs for team wins. -
How in the heck does one "game plan" around an O-line with all three starting interior linemen injured?????? The Bills couldn't win when they didn't have good linemen ....... the Bills couldn't win when we did had good linemen, but they didn't have time to "gel" ....... now you are trying to say the jags can win with three backup linemen who played their first game together last week???????? This is a game the Bills SHOULD win ...... no excuses ..... if they are in fact a playoff team we have to take advantage of the other teams injury status. We exploited Seattle last week, and we need to exploit Jax this week. If we can't beat a team with their O-line this banged up how in the heck could we expect to beat ANY of the healthy teams?

How long before "New England Randy" devolves
macaroni replied to JK2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
latest report on Sirius radio was that sir Randy was limited in practice today because of "back problems" ............... hmmmmmmm -
IMHO .... 1.) With the holes in their O-line, I don't see the Jags moving the ball too well 2.) With our special teams I see us winning the field position battle making them play on a long field all day (and conversly, us playing on a short field) 3.) Distinct possibility that we jump to an early lead forcing the Jags to play from behind somewhat taking them out of the run game 4.) I see Stroud playing like his hair is on fire My only real worry is the weather ....... does the heat take it's toll and wear us down phisically and mentally?

A Few Thoughts About The Game
macaroni replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one thing no one has mentioned ... The play after the fake field goal and the KO fumble recovery. The "go for the throat" pass into the end zone. Our "old Bills" would have run the ball up the middle three times and settled for a field goal. Our "new and improved" Bills opt for a kick 'em when they're down coup d' gras play. IMHO Turk and the boys have announced to the rest of the NFL that there is a new kid on the playground and we're not satisfied to just steal your lunch money, but we're going to kick you in the groin afterwards. Ahhhhhhhh it's GOOD to be a Bills fan this morning. -
Crowell takes a crap in a paper bag...
macaroni replied to NYCBoozers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jauron then proceeds to piss in said bag and hand it back to Crowell -
Without any facts ....... What if .... A.C.s announcment was in fact a sort of "in your face" move, either motivated by money or the captian thing ...... what ever The Bills F.O. gets really REALLY pissed about the timing and the mere fact that A. C. was trying to "punish" the team ..... and ..... late breaking news comes in like ......... ahhhhhhh ...... maybe our wayward LT would like to come home ...... Would they ....... could they ...... say screw you Crow we need to open a roster spot anyway ..... Like I said ...... no facts here, just "what iffing" the situation

Edwards back at practice; Walker's arm better
macaroni replied to VOR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm maybe "short term" relieved ....... but going into the season with a bruise prone LT has me a bit worried. Think about it ...... what else do you know that is bruise prone ......... a banana right ...... who the heck wants a banana playing LT on their team? -
[closed]Peters --- More than Meets the Eye
macaroni replied to Pass the Pipe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OH come on ....... Pinto Ron would get KILLED at Left Tackle -
Hmmmmm ...... no I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet

If I were king for a day (which I'm not) ....... I'd start "leaking" to the media subtle hints that we were in the market for a LT ....... maybe invite some free agents in for a "look see" ...... maybe drop some hints about a "possible trade" in the Bills future for a lineman. When the media started asking questions about Jason Peters just make claims like ... "It looks like Mr. Peters has lost his desire to play football" .... "we have to start making plans for the good of the teams future" ... "if Mr. Peters decides he would like to play for us he always has a home with the Buffalo Bills" ... "Mr. Peters hasn't participated in any practices, or workouts, or meetings, we have no indication that he intends to participate in any games, so we really have to fill that position with someone who will contribute to the team."
-
Positives I took from the game: No injuries to speak of (the biggest plus of all) In spite of almost a week more of practice time than the Bills, and it being their second game, Washington did NOT run away with the game Some of the rookies looked good ..... some looked bad ...... some looked really REALLY bad (which is helpful when we need to cut players lol) The JP pass to Hardy in the end zone was the best pass I've seen from a Bills QB in quite a while (but I'm still an Edwards fan) Coaches got some tape of real game play in a real game against real football players to help teach this team the do's and don'ts of football

Peters angry with contrace? I doubt it.
macaroni replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ..... you have to think where he came from ..... undrafted free agent TE .... glad he was even on a team .... destined for camp fodder .... crapola contract ....... and he gets offered a decent contract with some modacom of security of course he jumped at the chance. Let's put this in a way we all may be able to relate to. If you are an 18 year old "day laborer" working at an automotive company sweeping floors making minimum wage. This automotive company has spent big bucks to get a car detailer "with big potential" ...... but this detailer turns out to be a big BIG bust, so your boss fires him and asks if you'd like the detailing job, saying this would be a stepping stone to becoming a mechanic .... your boss also adds that the detailer job is a salary position and offers you a 20% raise with a "contract" promising 6% raise every year for the next 5 years. Now let's say six months into the job a large number of mechanics quit and the company asks you work as a mechanic (the highest paying position in the shop) so the shop can at least keep repairing cars ..... after working as a mechanic for a year ..... you not only are able to fix cars, but get voted by the association of car fixers (if there is such a thing) the best car fixer in the nation. Was our boy stupid to take the detailing job at a detailing wage, should he have held out for mechanics wages, should he have demanded less security? (his boss DID say it was a stepping stone to becoming a mechanic)? Should he NOW demand to be paid as a mechanic now since he has proved himself, or suck it up for a few more years before demanding anything?
