I'm sick and tired of the Bills screwing with the poor guy ....... no wonder he's holding out ..... first he's a TE, then a RT, then a LT and now you say they are moving the poor guy to FS ....... how the heck is a fat blob like him supposed to cover deep????? They're ruining his career I tells ya' ..............

Here is a guy sooooooooooo damn stupid he can't keep clean prior to the one day that could make him millions ........ and you want him on our team???????????? -
I wonder ........... if we would have offered him a long term deal at around 8mil/year last year when he originally asked for a new contract, would he have snapped up the opportunity????

All Time Bills Team RB Vote Flawed from the start
macaroni replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree 100% about O.J. being the #1 and Cookie being #2 running back ...... while I think Cookie was the best "all around" football player, O.J. was by far the best running back. If I remember correctly there was one season the Bills only attempted something like 140 passes all year ..... granted that was in the era of the 14 game schedule ...... but some teams do that in 3 or 4 games today. Now THAT'S relying on your running game -
All Time Bills Team RB Vote Flawed from the start

Cookie was the original "bad boy" (during an era where players were expected to be robots) ....... constant hold outs & boycotts ...... rude to fans, coaches, media, and the owner. He'd show up when and where he felt like. One of my early memories of my Bills fandom is watching the team practice during mini camp and seeing everybody busting butt except for one guy sitting on his helmet watching. When I asked my dad who he was and why the coaches weren't yelling at him, my dad just laughed and said "that's Cookie son ... he doesn't NEED to practice". He was probably the best pure football player I've ever watched he could do everything and was a fearless beast on the field, but boy was he a pain in the ass to the front office. -
NFL TO CELEBRATE 50th ANNIVERSARY SEASON OF AFL
macaroni replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmmmm ...... wonder if the Broncos will wear their throwback socks from '60 with the vertical stripes? If memory serves me right I seem to remember the team hated those so much they held a meeting after the season, tied their socks to the goalpost and burned them. -
Bills can stay in the Buffalo / Niagara region if........
macaroni replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quality of product on the field has absolutly nothing to do with it ..... we could win the next 10 super bowls and nothing would change. The Bills sell out, attendance is not an issue ........ PSLs are an issue ....... corporate sky boxes are an issue ...... gov't supported new stadium is an issue ..... all of which the WNY economy can not support. -
Now that the dust has settled on the T.O. pick up
macaroni replied to macaroni's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK here's the logic ...... Let's say you are in the need of some home improvements; Your roof leaks Your driveway needs replacement Your carpeting has holes worn through it Your gutters are rusted through You have a few broken windows The paint is pealing off the walls And then .... When it's time to spend money on your "home improvements", you install a built in swimming pool Now I'm not saying a pool isn't a good thing, but what you really need are some basic home repairs not a luxury. A pool is a heck of a lot more "fun" than a new roof/driveway/carpet/gutters/windows/paint ..... but what items have more "value" to you. -

I agree with what you are saying ..... but my point is, at this point in time we have nobody playing LG ..... so we have to draft one. When we talk about all of our other needs the round we go after a LG drops lower and lower until we are left drafting somebody that isn't an upgrade to what we already have on the team ........ and keep in mind ...... the people we have on the team were not good enough to beat out Dockery -
I think its safe to say...

Yep I've heard of it Starting Left Guard Quality pass rushing DE Starting OLB Starting pass catching TE oh yeah Stroud could use some help at DT Interior O-line depth needs some help A bit much to ask from this years draft dontcha' think? (and for nucci ..... a free agent in time saves nine) -

We have to take this FA period one signing at a time. It's hard to win in the FA signing period. The FA period is won in the trenches. What we need is a "high motor" front office. FA period is a game of inches. Free Agents can nickle and dime you to death. Need more????? -

I'm not exactly criicizing the T.O. deal ..... just needed a LAMP post to voice my initial euphoria over the deal and most recient realization that we aren't making the team better ..... we are just marketing the team for this year. As far as the Coles and Galloway stuff ..... (and I think neither one can carry T.O.s jock as far as talent level goes) .... if the front office felt they would help at WR, we could have gotten either for long term rather than renting T.O. for one year, and still have gotten some help in a higher area of need. -
When we picked up T.O. I thought it was a GREAT pick up by the Bills, now that the dust has settled, I've decided to not drink the Kool-aid. Getting T.O. was a brillient Marketing decision. He generated interest in a fan base that was about to revolt and re-energized season ticket sales. No doubt jersey sales will sky rocket. He really got the media "Talking Bills" and any publicity at this point in the season is good advertisement. ..... BUT IMHO picking up T.O. was a pretty dog doo-doo football decision. For it to be a good football decision it should have been a move to get us in the playoffs, set us up to go deep into the playoffs in the near future, and ultimatly to get int and win the super bowl. Bottom line is, when we picked up T.O. we needed to (in a football sense) do these things in order of priority; Get a Left Guard Resign our Left Tackle (or get a new one) Get a pass rush Get a TE that we can use as a weapon Get an OLB Get a viable #2 WR to take some heat from Evens What we ended up doing is; renting T.O. for one year. While I agree that T.O. will make our recieving corps better ...... so what. Does it get us closer to the play offs? No Will he be around next year? No Will this move put butts in the seats and dollars in the Bills pocket? You betcha So like I said ..... I'm not impressed ....... standing with my arms crossed waiting on the draft, but I have little or no hope we can fill our needs on draft day.
-
That's it ..... thanks Buffalo start FA period with 27 million and signs; T.O. ............ 6.8 Million Hangatrner .. 3.3 Million Fitz ............. 3.3 Million Skins start FA period with 8/9 million and signs; Hanesworth .. 100 Million Hall .............. 40 Million Dockery ....... 26.5 Million What is wrong with these numbers (I know the numbers are total contract numbers .... but the skins cap hit has to be HUGE)
-
OK so the numbers work out ...... but what do they really mean? If I remember correctly the Redskins were something like $8 or $9 Million below the cap BEFORE the FA period and they signed the $100 million dollar man, paid big bucks for our cast off turnstile, and had another large FA signing (I'm old and can't rememer who) in the first couple of days.

IMHO ..... when Jennings was on the field he was a damn good player .... problem was .... he was often dinged up and couldn't get on the field. McCargo on the other hand is a great player on paper ...... but I've rarely (if ever) seen it on the field. So I pick Jennings too.

I'd be happy with; rd1 Tyson Jackson - DE - LSU rd2 Ziggy Hood - DT - Missouri rd3 Ray Feinga - LG - BYU

..... Jim Donaldson: T.O. lands in the NFL's version of Hooterville, and it's the perfect place for him 06:14 PM EDT on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 A couple of random football thoughts . . . * * * It makes me smile to think that Terrell Owens could be shuffling off the NFL stage in a backwater like Buffalo. What a blow to his outsized ego to be picked up by the Bills after being cast off by the Cowboys. -
IMHO ..... I think Hangartner will make a better guard then center for us. I've never watched him play, but stuff I've read about him make me think he will struggle against the nose tackles in our division. But I think he'll make a great guard.
