Pete Carroll ACCEPTS deal with Seattle
macaroni replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It kills me how quick people on this board read between the lines of anything to predict doom and gloom for the Bills ... but nobody has jumped on the theory that the Seahawks may have contacted Cowher covertly to gauge his interest and Cowher told them no thanks he was probably going to the Bills. I'm not saying this is what happened ... just saying it's funny that now one mentioned it ... now that I've mentioned it ... it is no longer funny thank you very much -
While I will admit I was a Jason Peters fan (and still think he's a good LT) ..... I don't feel the other 4 guys on the line were of any "quality" ..... just because we paid a butt ton of money for them doesn't mean they were good.

Yep .... bums How good was Steve Young in Tampa Bay .... more reciently how good was Saint Bret Farve in New York

Anyone else feel like just giving up?
macaroni replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny you should bring this topic up .... I've been a Bills fan since the beginning. The catch is I left the area in 1969 to join the Navy and except for yearly visits I've not had any real connection to the area since. I could have adopted any of a number of teams in or near my home cities over the last 40 some odd years, but I haven't, I've even raised my children to be Bills fans. I can't put my finger on WHY I put myself through this year after year ...... I just DO .... cuz I'm a Bills fan. -
IMHO ...... put any one of those QBs on a team with a suckafied O-line ..... and a woefully lacking coaching staff and they all would be bums. I'm just sayin' .... does the QB make a bad team good .... or does a good team make the aveage QB "great".

This is by far the funniest thing I've ever seen. -
Frazier interviewing with Seattle. Or not. Or he is after all.
macaroni replied to dgrid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK let's look at the Seahawks situation ....... They hire a new coach to turn around a woeful team .... halfway through the season the GM up and quits .... the owner has cancer and the future of the franchise is in doubt .... after a year with the same won/lost record as last season (and massive injuries) the owner fires the "new" head coach ... the team is now without a GM ... HC ... and soon maybe an owner. Now you are preparing for a playoff game and you suspect the Seahawks want to waste your time with an interview to simply fullfill an administrative rule so they can hire someone else ... IMHO ... his rejection isn't as much to do about being hired by the Bills on the "hush hush" but more of a "I don't have time for this silliness" -
I'll redily admit that I am BY FAR not the most astute football mind on this site ..... but I can't think of even one obvious reason (other than he wasn't in my top three or four I would have picked). Would you be so kind as to enlighten me with just ...... oh ..... let's say just the top 10 obvious reasons why he would be a bad hire?
-
And Cowher isn't ????? or Tuna or Belicheat or any of the top tier "rock star" type of coaches we seem to crave?
-
Assuming Cowher is our #1 guy .... and assuming Billick does in fact want the job ... If I were the Bills GM (which I'm not) I'd give Cowher my best pitch and lay my best offer on the table and tell him to make up his mind because we have other options. If he really doesn't want to come to Buffalo we may have somebody who does .... and then either hire him or move on to Billick. Don't get me wrong I'd LOVE Cowher to be our next coach .... but only if he wanted to coach the Bills and face the challenge of turning the team around. If he is enticed to become our next head coach based purely on a kings ransom for pay, a piece of the team, and constant ego boosts ... then we are hiring the wrong guy. I want the next head coach to look at this team and say ... "I know we suck, but I sure would love the challenge to make the the team better"

The best way of finding out who is coming to Buffalo?
macaroni replied to sullim4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahhhhhhh ........ yeah ....... what's your point?? -
I have bad thoughts about my great uncle
macaroni replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you really want your children to enjoy that house you'd better hope your uncle lives forever because shortly after he dies, the residents of the house will move to greener pastures and the house will be demolished. Your uncle stays in his house because he feels he made a promise to his neighbors and just HATES it when a long time resident move away, but he's just an old dottering man ... -

Bills press conference @2:30-Nix confirmed as new GM
macaroni replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmmm .... just for fun .... and to get off the GM/HC debate .... Could it be that TO has felt sooooooo welcomed by the fans of western New York he has decided to end his career in Buffalo to help build the franchise and is signing an extension???? -
I feel an upset coming on Sunday vs Pats.
macaroni replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way he should get consideration is if he took the team to the platoffs???? My but aren't we harsh -
YA PLAY TO WIN THE GAME

A Few Thoughts About The Game
macaroni replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO .... the O-line WAS a big problem for the team at the beginning of the season. Since the injuries started to mount up, and they started shuffling people around .... and suffered more injuries ..... and shuffled more people around .... and suffered more injuries and started the back ups to the back ups ..... and then combed the waiver wire for fat guys still able to walk and started them ..... the O-line has left the relm of a "problem" and has entered the relm of insurmountable void. -
Shanahan met with Bills for 7 hours over 2 days
macaroni replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want a coach who comes here because the bar is set low ..... I want the coach to set HIGH standards for himself and the team. I don't want a coach to come here to strive to break .500 ... I want him to come here and strive to win a championship. and as far as our "great deal of talent" ..... I'm not so sure about that .... potential talent in spots maybe. -
Shanahan met with Bills for 7 hours over 2 days
macaroni replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Shanahan takes the offer Then I don't want him as our coach ..... think about it .... there will be several HC openings after the season is done ... he has no idea what the offers may be ... and someone just may be offering "stupid money" for a top tier coach. If he takes the first offer that comes across his desk he isn't nearly as smart as I think he is. -
Gruden did NOT turn down the Buffalo Bills...
macaroni replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO .... It would be stupid for the Bills to NOT contact all of the available head coach/General Manager candidates as soon as possible to get their name in the ring and start the process.... BUT it would be equally stupid for any one of the candidates to accept the first and only offer on the table before they can gage exactly what the market is for their services. Don't look for a hire before the end of the season -
Look who's helping Eric Wood off the field
macaroni replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My son and I were at the game, when it became obvious Wood's injury was serious T.O. was the first teammate to run over. Wood was in obvious pain and T.O. knelt down, bent over him and grabbed Wood's hand (I assume he told him to squeeze his hand to help fight the pain). We watched the whole thing through field glasses and I'm convinced T.O. was genuinly concerned about his team mate. I must confess up until this year I alwas thought T.O. was a loud mouth cancer (maybe a talented cancer but a cancer none-the-less) and thought it was a BIG mistake to welcome him on to our team. As this year wears on, and especially after this Sunday my opinion of him has done a 180 -
LOL out loud ..... he is 13 so the Bills of the last decade are all he knows ...... believe me he is prepared for an old fashioned butt whuppin' .... but the light in his dear old dad's eyes this last week has him convinced he will be whitnessing the begining of a new era in Bills "fandom".
