The Gailey Era Is All But Over
macaroni replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1.) Rip Wanny a new one and FORCE him to coach the D from the sidelines ... when his guys are screwing up I want him in their faces!!!! (and when Wanny screws up I want Chan in HIS face) 2.) Hire a REAL O coordinator .... this calm cool unflappable persona Chan wants to portray is fine and well for a head coach, but the O coordinator needs to be coaching people up on the sidelines. I know these players are supposed to be "proffesionals" and shouldn't need the "RAH RAH" stuff, but I'm sick and tired of the players pooping the bed, and Fitz calmly sits down at the end of the bench, Chan folding his arms and stares across the field, and Wanny is nowhere to be found ..... somebody, ANYBODY needs to start a fire in these guys. -
With a show of hands .... Who on this board feels the way to stop the Pats* is with "trickery" attempting to neutralize their wide recievers and TE? OTOH Who thinks the way to stop the Pats* is to release the hounds and put unrelenting pressure on Bradey? I'd bet dollars to dougnuts that if Wanny is reading this board he was the only one with his hand up for the first question.

I've figured it out ..... Wanny isn't watching the same game as we are, he must have some other game tuned in up in the coaches box. An exerpt from the interview; Why did things turn so bad in the loss to the Patriots? "We came out ready to play. We turned them back the first couple times, we came up with some turnovers. I felt as good at halftime in that game as I did in any all year, to be very honest with you as far as what we were doing, what they were doing. We just didn't finish the game. It's disappointing, it's very disappointing for everybody. Prior to last week, we were playing the run as good as I would have hoped we were playing it. In the second half last week, we missed 14 tackles; we hadn't missed 14 all year. We did NOT turn them back their first couple of drives .... as a matter of fact their first drive went 90 yards for a touchdown

Where's Buddy??? Missing in action along with his defense?
macaroni replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that we Bills fans have seen much leaner times ... and myself being a fan since the teams inception have seen much MUCH leaner times. But MY problem is that I can't remember playing so poorly with so much talent on the team. It seems obvious to me that this team is built for the offense to "manage" their side of the ball and for the defence to "dominate" their side. IMHO if the offense can score between 24-28 points we should be able to win the vast majority of our games. Our guys seem to be playing with no emotion whatsoever, the sideline staff doesn't seem willing or able to "pump them up" or chew their butts. Also our game plans (especially on defense) don't seem to have any vison, Wanny seems to think if we stop one aspect of our opponents game we're golden, forgetting "good teams" are able to adjust ... we take away the Jets "ground and pound" and Sanchize looks like the second comming of Joe Willy .... we TRY and stop Bradey's passing attack and we make two nobodies look like a combination of O.J and Jim Brown. The two games we won ... we took away the running game (the Browns and Chiefs bread and butter) and challenged their QBs to beat us with their arms ... they couldn't ... but like you said ... they are terrible teams ... they are "incomplete". -
If You Had A Chance To Say One Thing To Front Office
macaroni replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want my team ...... no I DEMAND my team be agressive ... I don't really care if we lose a game because the other team is better than we are but I never NEVER want to lose because we are ill prepared or too timid to be agressive. We need to ATTACK ... ATTACK ... ATTACK, both on offense and defense ... on offense go for the score on EVERY drive no matter if we are winning by 10, 20, 30, or 40 points ... no trying to "protect a lead" or playing conservative to avoid mistakes. On defense impose OUR will on them, do not ever EVER sit back on our heals thinking we will counteract what they want to do ... force the issue ... make them think in their heads and their hearts they CAN'T do anything. For GODS sake, stop trying to be cute .... punch them in the mouth ... stop trying to cover up our weakness with your fancey little gameplans ... highlight those players who don't measure up and cut their sorry butts and get somebody here willing or able to play hard for 60 minutes. -
Spiller taking responsibility for fumble
macaroni replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ... the coaches are responsible for putting the right players in the right place under the right circumstances to allow them to win. While I think C.J. is a great running back ... asking him to run the ball up the middle against N.E. at the goal line with an injured shoulder was just dumb. Choices were; C.J. with a diminished ability to protect the ball Freddie with a diminished ability to "drive the pile" Choise with a history of putting the ball on the carpet McIntyre White Second down and goal at the 4 yard line ... 1:19 to play in the first half First off I don't really need to score on the next play, also I don't want to pass and possibly stop the clock on an incompletion. What I'm calling is a fake to C.J. up the middle with Fitz rolling out trying to score on the edge. If that doesn't work I'm calling for McIntyre up the gut. If that doesn't work I'm kicking the FG and going in the half with a lead and momentum (because I just KNOW our vaunted Defense is going to stuff them on their first possesion ... yeah right). -
This is pretty silly .... which QB do you think could put up 50+ points per game ??? They way our team is built we SHOULD only need 21-28 points per game to win the majority of them ... and IMHO Fitz is certanly capable of that ... if our "vaunted D" is giving away 48 points to NYJ, and 52 to NE it really doesn't matter who the heck our QB is .... just sayin'

Take away the takeaways, and Bills win that game.

New Englands scoring drives (in order) were; 90 yards in 7 plays (TD) 80 yards in 8 plays (TD) 78 yards in 8 plays (TD) 63 yards in 5 plays (TD) 42 yards in 6 plays (TD) 12 yards in 2 plays (TD) 48 yards in 6 plays (TD) 7 yards 4 plays (FG) It doesn't look to me like we hurt ourself much with the turn overs by giving them points or a "short field" .... granted the turnovers didn't help .... but our "vaunted" D pooped the bed. -
I still think we are going to make the playoffs

Oh my ...... I think John may be running a fever -
I can translate them all to; It's hard to win in the NFL

After what the Jets did against us with a simple three step drop and chuck the ball gameplan???? If our DBs don't get more phyisical at the LOS I'm afraid we're toast against the friggen Pats*.

Do we really need stadium comfort improvements?
macaroni replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Instead of widening the concourses ... couldn't they just not sell tickets to fat people???? It seems to me that if the averave fan were thinner than that would mean more room for everybody, and save the county millions of dollars just sayin' -

When Mario comes to collect his paycheck this week Ralph should jam his hand into Mario's face .... might save the old guy a couple of million bucks..... just sayin' -

What I see in your pictures is a 400K first time starter going against a 100million dollar multiple probowl player one on one and neutralizing him ... granted when the scrub pulled some illegal tricks out of his bag he got away with them ... but the fact remains that our "super Mario" didn't have anything in HIS bag of tricks (legal or otherwise) to overcome it. -
I love the bills but!!!!!!!!!!
macaroni replied to SUNTANBILLSFAN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Over 50 years of being a Bills fan here. And Yesterday was the maddest I've ever been at this team/coaching staff. I'm not ready to jump off the bandwagon after only one game, but I must admit I'm starting to look for a soft landing spot -
[closed]Fitzpatrick apologists apology thread
macaroni replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actally even with the interceptions we DID still have a chance in the game .... however giving up 48 points to the Jets removed it. Don't get me wrong I don't think Fitz will ever be a Manning, Brees, Big Ben, etc ... but I do think he can be a servicable management type of QB. His skill set (combined with a dominating defense) should win more games than it looses. He is not the type of QB that can carry a team on his back through a season ... a game or two maybe, but not a season. The game yesterday was an epic fail in every aspect of a football game ... offense, defense, special teams, and most of all (IMHO) coaching. If Fitz's three steps and get rid of the ball will not work for us because the other teams have "caught on" .... why in the world did it make us look so foolish yeasterday ... if anybody can figure out how to defend it we should already know all of it's weaknesses. -
To be considered the "best" you have to beat the best ... in our case that would be the Pats* ... however before we can even dream about consistantly beating the Pats* we have to consistantly beat what we'd like to consider the weak sisters of the division ... namely the Jests and the Fish. IMHO a team doesn't face a MUST win until they have around six losses ... but this opener against the Jests is a pretty darn important game towards establishing the relavency of our beloved Bills.

Will Chan spring the no huddle on the Jets.
macaroni replied to Tom stahl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I predict the Bills will open the game with the no huddle wildcat. The injury to Smith was faked as a clever ruse to throw the Jests off guard ... Rex will then pull his team off of the field in protest because the double super secret wildcat was going to be HIS secret weapon and he claims the Bills obviously taped his practices in a strategic move stolen from the patsies to spoil his gameplan. The commish then reacts by suspending every camera man ever associated with the NFL, when he realizes this ban also will include all of the cameramen from the TV networks, rather than backing down he replaces them with highschool film students who own Brownie instamatic cameras. Excuse me while I put my tin foil hat back on. -
Tank cut - Carder to Cleveland Browns
macaroni replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I for one wouldn't mind if Bill Carder gets cut .... never heard of him and he has a pretty dull name. TANK on the otherhand has a super cool name -
Finally left work and was able to watch the video .... I think I now have a better feel for what the wildcat is. My assumption was always that the "trickery" came from the QBs ability to either run or pass. The way I see it now is that the "trickery" is in the versatility of the running options out of the formation (with the possibility of a pass thrown in). I knew you guys and gals could teach an old dog new tricks!!!!
-
In that same second and goal .... leave Fitz in, he can throw a heck of a lot better than Smith, Smith can run better than Fitz (but Fitz can certianly run a little bit), and they both can hand off the ball equally well to Jackson. The big plus to my scenario is we haven't "tipped our hand" telling the defense it's better than a 50/50 chance we are running the ball. In the case of a direct snap to Jackson it really doesn't matter who the QB is .... but I guess we could argue who is the best blocker between Smith and Fitz (If this were the case and we were tipping our hand anyway, I'd pull Fitz and sub in McIntyre). As far as splitting Smith out into the slot ..... I'd just as soon have Nelson there. Maybe I'm old school (or maybe just old) I just don't see the tactacal advantage.
-
I quess my question would boil down to ... how can I recognize the difference?
-
With all this talk about wildcat this and wild cat that I've come to realize that I really don't know the definition of "the wildcat". I had always assumed (I know I know) that the wildcat hiked the ball directly to the runningback who then ran basically an option play to either run with it or pass it ... the beauty of the play was in the initial "confusion" of the defense, and the later indecision of weather the guy with the ball was going to run or pass. Now last year in Denver we had Tebow just a QB scrambling around, but everybody called it the wildcat, instead of a bad QB running around trying to make something happen ... now we have Tebow in N.Y. and everybody talking about their super double secret wildcat that they are going to unleash on the poor NFL. To bring the question closer to home, we have Brad Smith who we bill as a "wildcat QB" (which to my way of thinking is an oxymoron). We only use him in third and 1 or 2 yards, and in my memory (I'm old so maybe my memory is lacking) he has never even hinted at a possible pass. My question is; Is there something fundamentally wrong with my understanding of the wildcat ... is there something I'm missing in the translation? This isn't a thread on the value or lack of value of the wildcat (or the people who run it) I'm just trying to understand what makes a wildcat a wildcat and not just another scrambling QB.

Ever remember an easier 7 game stretch to end a season?
macaroni replied to Billzfan23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm as optomistic as the next guy .... but before we start talking about "cake walk" parts of our schedule we need to take a closer look ... within those last 7 games are; Miami (X2) (who beat us twice last year) Jets (who beat us twice last year) Seattle (who had a better record than we did last year) Jax (who had roughly the same record as we did last year) and Indy & the Rams (who should both stink ... but Indy did get Luck .... just sayin') So while I agree the back end of our schedule isn't filled with world beaters, we still have to demonstrate we can beat the mid pack teams too.
