Minus the obvious...what would you like to see this year?
macaroni replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to see 11 men on the field each and every play. I want to see the team set and ready to play ball prior to the snap instead of looking like they're lost and frantically waving to each other. I want to see crisp tackling, and ending of the play rather than lamely chasing a ball carrier down the field with the defenders head on a swivel trying to figure out who SHOULD have been covering him. I want to see Taylor use the pocket a little bit more and not be so quick to bail ... I understand his #1 strength is in his legs, but pass protection will improve if his linemen know where he is going to be. I want to see Sammy and Shady healthy for the lions share of the snaps. I want to see the right side of the O-line solidified. I want to see a little more balance between our run game and our passing game. -
but ..... I do believe that this was the first game all season that we had 11 players on the field for every snap .... that's progress I guess. just sayin'

Do you think the Rex timing will backfire at all?
macaroni replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way I see it backfiring is if we crush the Jets this Sunday and everybody falls in love with Lynn as our next coach because of it. I have no feelings one way or another on how I feel about Lynn as a head coach ... if forced into an opinion I would say he may not have enough experiance to be a head coach yet, but I just don't know. The thought of the Bills hiring someone just on the strength of one game against a team who has clearly given up and is running for the bus kind of scares me. -

WIVB Josh Reed: Rex knows he's fired

IMHO ... the coaching staff is the problem ... the whole freakin' coaching staff. We have nine defensive coaches plus a self proclaimed defensive genius as a head coach, that's ten people with their fingers in our defensive scheme at some level or another. Think about that ... that's almost a one to one ratio to players on the field. Last week, three times (to my count) we almost started a play with only 10 players on the field only to have the 11th run into the formation at the last moment. So we have 10 defensive coaches and we can't even get the right players on the field at the right time. This is the second year this coaching staff has been in charge and we're STILL talking about communication issues. On the other side of the ball we also have 10 offensive coaches (two of which are tasked with developing our QB) and we can't pass protect, we can't pass. If you look at the coaching staff real close it is rife with Rex Ryan cronies, and their sons (and a brother). For the most part Rex has a connection in that either the coach once played for him or was a long time associate (or relative). I think the day Rex's welcome was worn out at One Bills Drive is the day he hired his brother to fill an opening we didn't have, based on his bloodline rather than any success he may have had as a coach, and the team not only didn't get any better, but to most accounts it got worse. I think that it was finally revealed that the emperor had no clothes and was more bluster than skill.

Why we will beat the Patriots this Sunday...by 10 pts
macaroni replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem as I see it is that the Bills team is constructed to play stifling defense and score in the 20 point range, and win games by limiting the opponents scoring with sturdy "D" and a successful running game to keep the ball out of the opponents hands. The Pats on the other hand was originally built to score in the 30-40 point range and win by daring their opponents to try and match them point for point. However ... The Bills are just starting their "team build" and if the defense has an "off day" (see Jets & Dolphins games) the offense cannot make up the difference. Throw into the mix our lack of viable receiving threats due to injuries, McCoy running on one leg, and the brain trust not activating J. Williams to carry some of the load, our offense is further hamstrung. Annnnnnndddd The Pats have been refining their "team build" over the last decade and the have the luxury of their defense "catching up" to their offense so they no longer NEED to score 40 points to win a game, even though they are capable. The defense makes it tough for their opponents to score. As much as I want to see the Bills win this one ... I see Badddddddd things in store for us fans come Sunday. -
isn't there a rule about having a player on the PUP list and one on the IR list at the same time on the same team?
-
could it be a planned kind of thing ... When the team is doing poorly the media gets the bombastic buffoon Rex who diverts the negative press from the players and onto himself. When the team does well we get the subdued professional Rex which allows the media to write up the teams performance. I don't know ... just think the personality switch is all of a sudden so I'm guessing Then again it could be that his brother is here and has said .... hey dude you're being a donkey's hindquarters out there.

IMHO ... fire Rob .... we have a defensive "genius" as our head coach ... we have a defensive coordinator in Dennis Thurman ... and we have a defensive consultant who is here not because of nepotism, but because he's a "damn good coach" (according to Rex), and we can't stop Ryan freakin' Fitzpatrick for gods sake Could the problem be that too many cooks spoil the broth??? If I were the GM, I'm showing Rob the door today and telling Rex if the ship isn't righted real REAL soon he's next. just my 2 cents

I'd add two expansion teams (1 each in the AFC and NFC) and then the only AFC vs NFC game would be the Super Bowl. That would eliminate any strength of schedule & adverse travel mileage advantage/disadvantages.

Topic of the day for Friday 6/24--The Rockpile
macaroni replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The family had season tickets from the very first season. I don't really remember "in game" specifics ... just little snippets, like the God awful Broncos socks, a game where it snowed so hard we couldn't see the field so the fans had a snowball fight in the stands (and my father crawling over a dozen or so rows of seats to kick somebody's ass that hit me in the side of the head with an ice laden snowball), hating Billy Joe (until he became a Bill), hating Ernie Ladd (because it was unfair that somebody so damn big was allowed to play against mere mortals), buying a couple of bags of fresh roasted peanuts from the street carts on the way to the stadium and packing them in our inside pockets to help keep warm Every local bar renting school buses to ferry their patrons to and from the game ... I remember one game riding home with a piece of goal post lying in the center aisle Being amazed that somebody would actually buy a seat that was directly behind a pillar ahhhhhhhhhh the good old days -
I think they don't use him because he gets winded too easily ..... just sayin'

As bad as they looked ... they only gave up 19 points ... I'll take that any day

Brady 4 game suspension upheld; Will go to court

If I were Goodell ..... and I'm not ...... I'd put Brady on the commissioners exempt list until the court case was settled, that way Tommy boy is only hurting the Patz***, and Goodell "protects the shield". -

Favorite moment as a Bills fan
macaroni replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This may be sick but .............................. After we lost the first Super Bowl and everybody was gathered downtown cheering for Scott Norwood, and him getting emotional at the podium. Yeah I KNOW we lost .... and I still cringe when somebody says either wide or right, but that was the moment that I was proudest to call myself a Bills fan. -
Where do you think the Bills should hold Training Camp?

How does it work when a team brings in a new coach?
macaroni replied to K-No's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what I've always wondered was what happens after a wholesale house cleaning where the entire staff gets replaced. Does the outgoing coaches delete/burn/throw-out all of their "research" materials like game tapes, player evaluations, and any other data that they may have had on the team .... or does the GM/President/owner take possession of all that stuff so the incoming staff can use what the see fit to use.
