  1. I don't know....on one hand, they're filibustering to not get Specter to the floor, so it seems like it's a conspiracy. On the other hand, they're "filibustering" about something more important. That said, this is quite a convenient time for Ted Kennedy to say that we have more important issues in this country (war in Iraq, gas prices, and foreclosures) than to focus on the Patriots* cheating.
  2. I'm a bit less dramatic on this. As Chandler said, league integrity is at stake here. It's one thing to take down the Pats* and Belichick, but what that also does is put a huge black eye on the league that may not be recoverable for a very long time. If Roger Goodell is willing to let that happen, then more power to him. The more important issue at hand is that the league takes a major hit....if something comes out of the Walsh meetings.
  3. Apparently, you weren't paying attention....we already have speedsters. Did you want another Roscoe Parrish? Early Doucet & Deshean Jackson are the polar opposite of what this team needs.
  4. It's a power thing. Because they are athletes and their agents hype them up so much to their face, they think they can get away with anything, so they show off their stuff. Half of them end up with DUIs, the other half get off. Sad society we live in...
  5. Nice to see someone give the Bills a positive spin instead of focusing on what they didn't do/should've done. The continual influx of CBs told me they're looking for the best possible guys to defend Moss, Welker, et al. I'm not blown away by the overall group of guys they drafted, but I'm not upset with it at all.
  6. There are the initial post-draft grades, which give guys like Kiper something to do and give E$PN a reason to employ them. The real grades will show up around 2010-2011.
  7. Well, we need something and I don't want to go through another year of Robert Royal and some UDFA. I'd put Rucker first and take Davis if Rucker's gone.
  8. Speaking of which, has there been any mention by you-know-who about how you-know-who should be given credit for putting the pieces in place for the Bills drafting these guys?
  9. I was ok with McKelvin and I'm more ok with Hardy. Plenty of draft time to go and a lot of the successful NFLers will be coming out of the next several rounds.
  10. Apples & oranges....they said no to Nate because he wanted more money than he thought he was worth. I think (hope) Brandon is smart enough not to overpay, but since Lito is a known quantity, he should be able to sign him to a (somewhat) reasonable deal. If (and that's a huge IF) this deal gets done and they sign Lito to Clements-type numbers, then we can wonder. I disagree that the FO would be saying they prefer players from other systems. Perhaps it's the FO saying we don't want TD's draftees because they aren't the right players they want to represent the Buffalo Bills. Perhaps it's the FO saying that TD screwed up enough so that we don't have time to develop players, so we need a veteran or two that can really play.
  11. "[it's] full of cokeheads & debutants....half of which play for the Cowboys." -Hank Hill
  12. If you're drafting a guy like Jake Long #1 overall, you're starting him at LT.....period.
  13. If they are talking about #1 overall (like the Fins have this year), then Gallery and Leaf aren't in that category. I know Gallery was something like #3 or #4 and I'm pretty sure Leaf was #2 behind Peyton Manning.
  14. The problem is he's wrong most of the time and he gets ticked off when teams don't pick the player he thinks they should pick. Good for him that he's doing what he loves, but I've never liked his arrogant attitude or the way he puts himself on a pedestal. His ESPN cohorts give him too much credit and constantly feed his ego.
  15. Bingo. Maybe the NFL is starting to not like the Pats* like everyone in the world doesn't like the Yankees. Not that I'd complain about that....
  16. Apparently, I'm one of the few who don't mind the home dark jerseys. The road "white" jerseys are pitifully ugly. I feel like I'm watching a USFL team when they wear those.
  17. But that's exactly why this game is in Toronto. Whoever decided to put it there probably was thinking from a marketing perspective....yet probably over-thought it a little bit. Not saying I agree with it....just trying to rationalize.
  18. I have little problems with the schedule. I would have preferred the Miami game be at RWS, but I'm not THAT worked up over it. I like how we have a Monday nighter again and a few 4:00 games (playing the NFCW helps, I'm sure).
  19. Too bad they don't know how to spell exclusive.
  20. Couldn't agree more. I would think the draft effort would come down to a list of the players you absolutely want and if they get called, the player is crossed off the list. Sounds simplistic, but I'd think that would be the basis for everything done by the FO on draft day. It's not as if they have 45 minutes to ratify a collective bargaining agreement or anything.
  21. So those of us who live outside the Buffalo area should worry?
  22. All the more reason to pick him at 11.
  23. It's not worth it, IMO. I've never been an "insider" and there was no way I was going to pay $30/month just to get rumors and what talking heads think might happen. I watched the on-the-clock segment and I didn't think it was too bad. Someone here posted a good synopsis - need offensive weapons, Kiper doesn't think they should go WR at #11, etc. Mort never said a word about how we should give credit to TD for drafting someone...shocking.
  24. I really don't think it should be called a "nationally-televised" game.
  25. We really have sunk as a society, haven't we?
