This is why I picked them to win the division. I thought Rodgers' play at Dallas last year was the reason they finally went with him and told Brett to go shove it. It's also why I didn't think the Pack would lose much with Rodgers and why he's on my fantasy team.

Good point....I forgot about the hold on the FG.

It definitely looked like there were a lot of empty seats in the lower bowl....I didn't notice until the second half, but I presumed it was because of the weather. If that's the case, it's a pretty sad statement.

Fixed.

Overall, I wouldn't go worse than a B-. The offense had a great first drive and a great TD drive in the 4th quarter. Between those two, there wasn't a lot to be excited about. The special teams didn't do anything spectacular, save for Roscoe's return in the 4th, but they didn't lose the game, either. The defense simply got worn down in the heat, thanks to the onsides kick, but did make some stops when they needed to and held the Jags to FGs. I thought the onsides kick was one of those "great if it works, terrible if it doesn't" calls.

Ed Hochuli just hosed the Chargers. Bad.
BuffaloWings replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In defense of Hochuli, he blew the whistle right away, thinking that it was an incomplete pass. Nevertheless, he should still take some discipline....not that the Chargers give a sh*t right now. They'll get a letter from Goodell apologizing, but they're still 0-2. I wonder how much Mike Shanahan was thinking that since they REALLY got away with one, he'd give the Chargers a chance to win anyway by going for 2. -

That's my whole problem with this....I've never been a referee of anything, so I can't say what's going through his mind. The question is how sure was he about the call. If he's not dead-on, 100% sure either way (fumble or incomplete pass), he should let it play out and use the review to figure out the right call. It's probably easier said than done, but the NFL should burn this into the refs' brains. The Chargers are just the most recent team to get screwed because of this, since it's happened a lot. I think the NFL has done the best they could in situations like this...you need a cut & dried rule, so calling the play dead where the ball was fumbled is probably the best they can do. -
OT--are the chiefs the worst team in the league?
BuffaloWings replied to Corp000085's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't. I figured with the Raiders looking like a JV team last week and the Chiefs playing the Pats* tough on the road, this had all the makings for a KC rout. Now I have to buy back in.... -
And that's not saying a whole lot. Both offenses look pretty inept right now. Heck, I'll go so far as to say the Bills look like the best overall team in the division right now.

2-0 When was the last time that happened?
BuffaloWings replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Second...he came over during the 2002 draft. And I hate to nitpick, but last year we didn't get our second win until week 7. The Monday Nightmare dropped us to 1-4. -
Debilitating injuries.

Some observations about the game.
BuffaloWings replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Assuming no sarcasm here... You mean the short pass to Schouman that got a first down? I loved the call - I believe it was 2nd & 2, so it wasn't that risky. Fairchild would have run Lynch up the middle into the pile for no gain. -
Peter King Predictions for the weekend

They better not be that bad....I'm rolling the dice with them in my survivor pool. -
Peter King Predictions for the weekend
BuffaloWings replied to Phil Hansen Forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think King and other "experts" are probably over-thinking things. They still seem to be using their pre-season analysis, possibly thinking that the Jags had one bad game and that they're really better than they showed at Tennessee, despite the OL injuries. However, that's like saying your car will run just fine, even though the serpentine belt broke before you had 1,000 miles on it. -
Peter King Predictions for the weekend
BuffaloWings replied to Phil Hansen Forever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But you only have 1 game to go on. I'm a firm believer in waiting after at least 3-4 games before we have a good assessment of any team. Remember, they did beat a banged-up Seattle team at home. This game is a test. Jacksonville is still a physical team and while I agree with King that it couldn't have been a fun week in Jags practice, I don't think we're seeing a 30-16 game. I see a tight, low-scoring game...like a 17-13 or 20-17 final. -
Ken Schott was supposed to hear from them about the actual number of emails and calls they got. I hope he updates his blog with that.

My digital cable guide still says that, also...though I'm guessing it may take a little time for Time Warner to update it. At least....I hope....

Awful week to be in a suicide league!
BuffaloWings replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's that ballsy. KC didn't look too bad against the Pats* and Oakland looked worse that a Pop Warner team. KC is a tough place to play in and even though they have QB issues, I think Huard should win this one. That might be my pick, anyway. Otherwise, the Giants would probably be my best bet. -

BuffaloWings replied to devldog131's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think Marty knows what he's talking about, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. It was a phenomenal game last week, albeit against a banged up Seahawk team. Don't get me wrong - I have higher expectations of this team than I did in the previous two years and I was more than satisfied with the win last week, but we all remember 2003, right? The Bills were considered Superbowl material after whooping the Pats* and Jags to go 2-0....and then Travis Henry threw an option pass in Miami.... Let's give these guys a few more weeks. I think Jacksonville will be better than they were last week, so the Bills are in for a fight. As long as they bring the same effort against the Jags as they did against Seattle, they can win. I don't see a blowout on either side - I think this one will be close, perhaps a 20-16 or 23-20 final in Buffalo's favor. A lot depends on the Jags o-line and whether or not they can run the ball. -
Why would we even bother trying? Trying to get the Bills shown over the Giants here is pure suicide.

It's simply a cop-out, and a weak one at that. That's why I wish he would have recognized the fans. At the same time, as The Dean said, he probably doesn't want to admit that - it basically says that all fans have to do is complain and he'll change his mind. That gives him less leverage in future decisions. Perhaps the NYC suits will remember that, but they may not care. By October, they'll forget this happened (if they even know about it) and force us to watch Chiefs-Raiders instead of Bills-Dolphins.

Back in Seattle (From Buffalo Blowout)
BuffaloWings replied to blzrul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure that was part of it, but they were probably trying to get Cowher a ring, also. -
Bingo. Really, I don't care what he says. I'd still put my money on the fans' reaction influencing his decision, nevertheless. As per your suggestion, I definitely plan on sending a thank-you email. Though, I wouldn't be sure how to word it....this change of heart is unprecedented for WRGB.
-
Not complaining, but it would have been nicer if he had said how the "feedback" of numerous fans in the area helped influence him and a grown man crying put him over the top. But hey...whatever it takes.
