Now that we got Roman, would you welcome Stevie back?
BuffaloWings replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always thought Stevie was a good route-runner and was the only guy who was consistently getting open vs Revis when the whole world was in love with Revis. Those days are gone, so I don't see the point in bringing Stevie back. I like what he did here...except for the drops, fumbles, and stupid tweets. The drop in the Pittsburgh game will always stick with me. -
They probably will. If Seattle wins this weekend, can they not talk to other teams again until after the Super Bowl? I don't doubt the teams with coaching vacancies want to get things rolling now and waiting for the Seattle coordinators (should they get to the SB) would actually hurt them with scouting and draft prep.

We've been over this ad nauseum, but Wade was fired for a handful of reasons, probably including his statement (which was more like "Basically, we're out of the playoffs" with three games left and were 7-6 at the time). He was fired because he refused to fire his buddy who he brought in as special teams coach, who did a God-awful, cover-your-eyes bad job with special teams. Once he refused, Ralph fired Wade. Wade was and still is one of the best DCs I've ever seen...he just wasn't a good head coach. I also say let's get to the playoffs, first. But I say that as a fan. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Rex is already prepping to WIN in the playoffs, not just get there. That's his job.

Bills v Jets in prime time next year?
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there's no chance the Bills get a Sunday night game. Those are saved for the league's (perceived) elite teams, combined with the ones that would draw a big audience - New England, Pittsburgh, Indy, Dallas, NYGiants, Philly, Green Bay, Seattle, Denver, etc. The Bills are more likely to get a Monday or Thursday game. Maybe a Monday night game vs Dallas, but as things are right now, I see it more likely to be a Thursday night game. -
Do you approve hiring Rex Ryan as HC
BuffaloWings replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this a lot, but this is a big key...knowing the division. Rex has beaten New England - in the regular season AND the playoffs. Even this year when the Jets were bad, they gave NE two tough games that they could have won. -

BuffaloWings replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. I didn't want him to begin with. I didn't like how he handled the Jets over the past couple of years. They were undisciplined and he couldn't get anything out of Sanchez, Smith, or Vick. I was hoping for an "Unsure" option in the poll, but I voted for "approve". The more I read about him, the more I'm warming up to the idea. Like GunnerBill said, he's now the Bills' head coach, so he's my guy. -
Head Coach candidate: Pep Hamilton
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there's one thing I've read about Pep that would sell me it's that he doesn't force a particular system on his players, rather builds a system based on his players' strengths. This is what I want in a head coach. -
What the first question you ask prospective coaches?
BuffaloWings replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a reason I stopped at Bernadette.... -
Who do you want to be named next Bills HC?
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I've read, Pep has the same philosophy as Quinn...build a system around your players, not forcing your players into a system. To me, this is how teams win. Bill Parcells was the best at doing this. -

Penny or Bernadette? -

Have you ever been in a Turkish prsion? ok, ok... Seriously: "How do we beat New England - both times?" -

BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted for Bevell, but I'd lean towards either Seattle coordinator right now. They're doing everything right on both sides of the ball and have been for a few years. They also take on Pete Carroll's style of creativity and throwing the book out the window. -
My Q.B. choice 2015 draft Bryce Petty
BuffaloWings replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Petty a million times more than Winston. I'd like Mariota, but he won't be available. I don't think it'll happen, but if Petty is still on the board when the Bills pick, I hope Whaley makes it happen. -
Bill, let me be the first to say we've missed you. I have to agree with you about Freddy. I love his heart and his passion, but he likely is near done (if not there already). I also like TJ Yeldon and would love to see him on this team. I think Whaley can do the job. Giving up what he did to get Sammy was clearly too much, but I do remember everyone saying that they now have a weapon for EJ to be a good QB. That clearly didn't happen, so the trade definitely didn't work like they had planned. As for the QB, I'll disagree...I don't want Cutler. He's a big-time headache and has no desire. He needs a shrink for a head coach/coordinator and the Bills can't afford that. I would absolutely take a flyer on Mallett and maybe look at a QB in the later rounds of the draft.

NFC Wildcard Game 1: Arizona at Carolina

Horrible call. That changed the game...big time. -
NFC Wildcard Game 1: Arizona at Carolina
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I counted at least two blocks that should have been flagged on that catch & run. Now the Panthers can put this away. -
Perhaps Whaley/Pegula's first question should be just that... "How do we beat New England twice?"
-
So, in other words, there is no news. Love that Twitter.

Like it or not, I agree with the OP. The Bills won't find the next Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers (or even Jim Kelly) in free agency or the draft this year. In fact, all of those QBs were good in part because they have/had excellent offensive lines. If you want to cut EJ, go ahead. Living with Jeff Tuel or picking up Matt Moore, Mark Sanchez, or Sam Bradford won't make a damn bit of difference if they don't do anything to address the OL. Yes, EJ had some issues, but I still don't think he's gotten enough of a look. Don't get me wrong...he still has 2 strikes in my book, but let's give him a chance. Get the OL fixed first, then worry about the QB.

There are NO good Qbs available
BuffaloWings replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm willing to give Mallett a shot, but let him compete with EJ. Manuel hasn't exactly lit up the NFL, but I think he should be given one more chance to win the job. -
QB search.....no trust in Whaley to get it right
BuffaloWings replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather he focus on the OL first. -
With a lot less fanfare... I'm also surprised, but not shocked. At least it takes him out of the Bills' plans for 2015. I wasn't thrilled with his play, though he was an option compared to EJ's poor play in the first month. Thanks, Kyle.

Rumor: Pegula met Cowher for dinner
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just remember...Cowher would want a lot of control, which means Whaley goes, too. -
Black Monday--who will be fired and who will move up?
BuffaloWings replied to mannc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with this point, but he's also responsible for the entire team's performance. Overall, they did ok. I think it all depends on what the Pegulas want to do...it'll either be Whaley or Marrone that gets the boot.
