  1. That's clearly the way to do it - inform your bosses before you announce the decision. I'd hope they'd also have the decency to tell Fred immediately after the Pegulas. I can see how people would think Whaley would want this because he traded for Bryce, but Doug's not an idiot. I'm sure he knows what Fred means to the players and fans and given Brown's fumbling technique, he better be right about this. They also better make the playoffs now.
  2. Hmm...I really just need the audio feed. The game rewind is nice, but I don't really have time during the week to watch the rewind if I miss it on Sunday.
  3. Wasn't there an AudioPass feature in the past that only cost something like $30? I've done that every year for about 6-7 years and I don't remember anything costing $99.
  4. This is just the beginning.... A friend suggested that this will play out over the course of the season, go through the courts, and by Week 14, the NFL will win the lawsuit and Brady's suspension will be upheld. Thus, he'll miss the last 4 games of the regular season - when the Patriots* will need him to cheat/win a few games to either make the playoffs or for playoff positioning.
  5. How others have been saying how great he is always bugged me. They were caught cheating...even after that, all of the pundits were proclaiming him as the best ever. Now they've been caught cheating again...this time, Brady is the focus of it. If there's evidence that has proven he or his coaches cheated to get them a few rings, then I can't consciously say he's the greatest ever or even consider him HoF material now.
  6. What time is it supposed to be released?
  7. Nothing is official until next Tuesday, but I thought I saw a tweet from Drew Rosenhaus (McCoy's agent) that he contacted the Eagles mgmt and they told him no such trade is in the works. Nevertheless, with Spiller saying he was told they won't re-sign him and Kiko saying he was told he will be traded, it seems like it's happening.
  8. This. Everyone relax. It's only mid-February and we haven't even hit free agency yet, not to mention the draft. At least he's been in the league for a while.
  9. Enberg is one of my favorite broadcasters of all time. I miss him doing any sports these days. Trumpy was obnoxious...almost as bad as Collinsworth is today.
  10. I think people are using the phrase "stay classy" wrong. He's not being classy at all...and never was to begin with.
  11. I think the OP hits the nail on the head. Yes, every team "cheats" or at least tries to skirt the rules here & there to get an advantage. I think you'd have to be ignorant to think that doesn't happen. That said, what New England has been doing since Brady took over is uncanny. How many times would Wes Welker be wide open on every play when the defense knows he gets the ball 12-14 times a game? How can Brady have so much time in the pocket? How does their defense have the right play call at the most important times? It reeks of the Patriots having the refs in their back pocket or knowing the opponents plays before they're coming. Yes, I hate that team. You can call me a "hater" if you want, but something stinks about everything they do. When I hear Kraft "demand an apology" or Brady crying like a little baby when a d-lineman so much as breathes in his direction, it proves the arrogance that this organization is all about. As long as Kraft owns that team, this will always be an issue.
  12. Yeah, he said he trusted the call that came in, but sounded like he didn't want to run that play. Why can't he audible or change to the run? If you really want to throw the ball there, it's gotta be a play action, a read option, or a fade to the back corner pylon.
  13. Johnny, thank you. You have perfectly summed up everything I've wanted to say about Patriots fans. I will throw two points at you... 1. I will still always hate the Cowboys, but this stems from something personal. Yes, the two Super Bowls have a lot to do with it, but as a kid in the 70s, I was on the Steelers side of that rivalry. I liked the Steelers almost more than the Bills for a long time. But what drives me to this continued hatred is a guy I used to work for a little over 10 years ago. He's a big-time Cowboys fan and can be a very arrogant, obnoxious prick. The moment he found out I was a Bills fan, the digs and shots at me and my team didn't end. I left that job in 2005 (for other reasons), but now that he's a Facebook friend of mine, I still don't hear the end of it. That said, I will always have the ultimate respect for Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Tom Landry, and even (*shudder*) Emmitt Smith. Those guys played/coached the game the right way...with respect. 2. You forgot to mention that when the Brady/Belichick era is over, these fans won't just pull out their Bruins hats, they'll pull out the hats/jerseys of whichever Boston team is winning...even if it's the Celtics. Red Sox/Patriots/Bruins fans go into hiding when the team is bad. This is the culture of Boston-area sports fanatics.
  14. I was ticked when they let Levitre go. I want him back...even more than Peters.
  15. This...it's what all coaches do when their team is in complete control of the game (well, all except for Belichick and some high school coaches trying to prove themselves or whatever). It's called sportsmanship & professionalism, which apparently doesn't exist anymore. I'm not being soft, either. If you're up by 1 or maybe 2 scores, then you can keep throwing. When the game gets out of hand, that's when you pull it back a bit. I remember the 2007 Pats game at Buffalo (game was flexed to Sunday night). It was something like 42-10 in the 4th when NE went for it on 4th & 3 from around the Buffalo 25. The entire crowd got on them...Brady converted and they went in for another TD. Every Pats fan/apologist kept on saying all year long "If you don't like us going for it, then make a defensive play and stop us." That wasn't the point.
  16. Don't mean to shoot you down, but wasn't that the throw to TJ Graham in the end zone where all of us were debating whether or not he ran the wrong route? Regardless, I agree with you (I'm just not sure of your example). I can't count how many times where the defenders are right there to break up a pass or get the INT. The line of "it's as if they were in the other team's huddle" can apply to both sides of the ball.
  17. This was discussed in 2007...they run up the score just to prove to everyone they're THAT good that they don't need to cheat (though I think that's kind of a flawed argument). Belichick was basically saying "F all of you. I'll show you how good we really are." I've been saying this for years - it astonishes me that their receivers are WIDE OPEN on almost every play, especially the crucial 3rd down plays. It's uncanny how easy they make it look. I let that go for a time, thinking I was just being too paranoid. Since Deflategate surfaced, I can't help but think they've been doing something illegal this whole time...i.e., since 2001. I'm pretty much convinced of it now.
  18. YES...100000%
  19. From what I understand, Sean Payton was suspended for a year because he "suggested" paying the bounties. He never did anything illegal - just suggested it. If that's really true, then if Belichick is found to be in on the deflating scandal, he should get more than Payton did. That said, it will never happen. The only punishment that came out of Spygate was the fine to Belichick and the loss of draft picks...a big-time slap on the wrist. The fact that the evidence was destroyed by the league very quickly is disturbing, implying the inclination that the league is in on it. Maybe they want the hatred of that team to keep driving fans to watch the game? Maybe Kraft and Jerry Jones are sending similar payments to the league and officials? Who knows. But think about this...the Watergate comparison is interesting, but possibly not relevant. Are the Patriots a great team because they just have a great coach/QB combo? Or are they great because they've been doing a few things that are illegal week in & week out that help them win almost every week? And yes, for the record, I hate them - because they win all the time and make the Bills' organization their B word every time the play each other. But I'd like someone who doesn't hate them give me a good reason to trust them with the Spygate thing, the "Just give it to 'em" game, the stories of radio communications cutting out on the visitors, and them being able to still talk to the QB with under 15 on the play clock. They can't keep doing this stuff and keep getting away with it.
  20. I'd absolutely love to see a Green Bay-Indy Super Bowl. But it won't happen. Patriots 31, Colts 20 Seattle 27, Green Bay 17
  21. This offense isn't going to be pass-heavy, so we don't need a Manning, Cutler, or Bradford. .
