Jets will win the Super Bowl.
BuffaloWings replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They may very well win the Superbowl - I won't deny that they have the talent to do it. I'm just in the boat that if they don't, it'll likely be because they don't have the best overall team. -
I voted Fairley, but I'd be ok with Dareus, Quinn, or Bowers, too. I just don't trust Newton. I want defense, anyway.

Jets will win the Super Bowl.
BuffaloWings replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't if he kept shooting his mouth off like he does. I haven't looked, but I'll bet Jets fans are starting to think this is enough. I'm sure they want results, too. -
Superbowl XIX was held in Palo Alto (Stanford stadium), so the Bay Area isn't new to the game. They just haven't done it there in over 25 years. I'd doubt the NFL would have it in Candlestick, either. Personally, I like the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The weather usually isn't an issue in SoCal, it's outdoors, and the place seats about 100,000+.

You know, you're right. My bad...I was tying the white helmets to the losing years because I left WNY right around that time and didn't see much of them again until the late 80s. Uh...how about the late 80s and 90s?
-
I'm all for this if they keep the red helmets. The white helmets remind me too much of the early 80s into the 2-14 years.

Seriously. Maybe A-Rod shouldn't be that upset, but this is all much ado over less than nothing. We all have bigger fish to fry.

Fans sue NFL/Dallas over superbowl tix
BuffaloWings replied to BillsRUs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were reimbursed about $2400 (triple the amount of the cost of the ticket), which I'd assume is the NFL's attempt to cover travel & hotel expenses. That's a lot of dough, but it adds up quick. -
Super Bowl over President's Day weekend
BuffaloWings replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's been pushed enough to begin with. No need to extend it any further. Mike Francesa brought this idea up recently (maybe a year or so ago). Depending on how the calendar is laid out...start the season on Labor Day weekend, play an 18-game schedule with two bye weeks for each team (20 total weeks), and keep the Superbowl two weeks after the conference championships. This would put Superbowl Sunday on about the third Sunday in February, which is usually President's Day weekend. I think this is too much. Once you start playing more games and potentially losing players to injury (or even rest), the quality of the game goes downhill, which is what I don't think the fans want...hence, the commissioner doesn't want that. Yes, I'd love to see more football, but we shouldn't extend the season like this just because the owners want more cash in their pockets. Just like those who are into the holiday season - the decorators, partiers, etc. - we can get tired of the same stuff after a while. -
vegas odds to win 2012 Super Bowl
BuffaloWings replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My guess is it's because they were decent with him (even though Wade failed last year) and they still have the talent that made them a playoff team from 2009. I'm surprised they have Seattle that high - at least compared to everyone else. I know they finished 7-9 in a very weak division, but they still have the makings of a solid team. -
I can't excuse the lyric gaffe, so there's no way I could say she was even close to decent. She also tried to show her vocal range by changing the tone of certain notes within the song. Sorry, but it was just an overall bad performance.

Wow...that's beyond horrible, IMO. If you're afraid someone's going to mess up the live version, then either get someone else to sing it or find another job yourself. Did they not realize that the recording itself can get messed up (see: Ashlee Simpson)?

The NFL was lucky on 2 fronts

Freaky...one of my friends said the exact same thing when I asked for Bruce Springsteen to come back. Mike, is that you??? -
At least Joe Buck showed some excitement when either team scored a TD or made a big play.

How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
BuffaloWings replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that's because Fitz was better than Trent, who may or may not have been better than JP. Either way, it's like saying your uncooked meat tastes better than the rancid stuff. Spot on. I've been saying this for years - a team should draft the best player available at the position of their greatest need...the only possible exception to that is if there is a QB you think is the next Joe Montana. Otherwise, get the best DL, LB, RB, WR, or CB that's available. -
I thought there was a rumor that Whitney lip-synched it. Christina Aguilera's performance last night was horrific. Just sing the song, don't make it your own "special" version, and - for the love of God - DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS!!!!!

Did Any One Here What I Think I Heard ??
BuffaloWings replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't there a recent story (during the playoffs, I think) where one of the ESPN reporters slipped out some practice details during their public report? If the reporters are allowed into the practice, I would think there's some sort of oath/agreement between the teams and the network(s) that they can't divulge any details of that practice. I know the game announcers meet with the players & coaches every week and they usually talk about what the teams' game plan is, but not until during the game. -
How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
BuffaloWings replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This...1000%. Yes, the Bills don't have a Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, or Ryan and they could use one badly. But what they need to do even worse is to shore up the defense. Both teams in SB XLV have elite QBs, but they also have elite defenses. While I still say that Fitz is not an elite QB and probably won't be, I'll stick with him for now until the Bills have the opportunity to get that elite QB. Who knows - Fitz could be the next Trent Dilfer. -

I didn't HEAR what you heard, but this stuff shouldn't surprise anyone anymore. We have to realize that this spy-type stuff happens all over the NFL. The guys who are good at it just don't get caught. -
No, he just mastered the art of the push-off.

SI.com says 1990 Bills 8th Best Team not to win SB

Good list. I'd personally put the Bills higher (maybe #5), but I'm biased. -
USA Today Story on Bills SBs
BuffaloWings replied to It's in My Blood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My father told me years ago that someday we'll look back and appreciate the fact that this team was merely in the Superbowl. I can cherish the season they had and the run through the playoffs, but rehashing the game itself is still difficult. I can do so with friends/colleagues who respected the Bills, but not those who still like to give me crap with "wide right" comments. -
USA Today Story on Bills SBs
BuffaloWings replied to It's in My Blood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of these years, nobody in the media will talk about the Bills' "record". The only ones I had confidence in were 25 and 28. For XXV, I didn't think they'd roll the Giants, but the team was on a high and I actually thought the one week of prep would have helped them. The 9-minute drive in the third quarter was the killer. Oh...and that missed FG.... For XXVIII, I thought they had the experience and the players were determined enough to not let another loss happen. I really thought they were going to win it at halftime. -
Steelers or Packers ... who ya' got?
BuffaloWings replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about Pouncey and I think GB's defense might be able to exploit that. I think this all falls on the QBs - Ben has been there, but Rodgers has looked cool and poised throughout the playoffs. I like both defenses, but Green Bay's has been flying all postseason. Packers 20, Steelers 16 -
I'm in the same boat, but I'm not so sure that I'd want him that early. I only saw him in the Rose Bowl, but I liked what I saw. If Pat Devlin isn't available in the later rounds (say 4-6), then I think this is the guy to pick.
