Pats are NOT Tied with the Bills
BuffaloWings replied to The Avenger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This argument is only good for bragging rights. It's nice to say the Bills are in first place right now, but it means nothing after 7 games. -
Is it time to start "cheering" for the Dolphins?
BuffaloWings replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is like rooting for the Bills to keep losing so they can get a better draft pick. Whoever gets Luck will get him. He seems like the real deal, but there's no guarantee that he'll be the next Elway/Marino/Kelly/Manning/Brady. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's how Miami ran it against New England a few years ago when they first brought it out. I believe Ronnie Brown threw it a couple times in that game alone, then ran it for some big gains. It's the perfect scenario to have Smith throw it because of his QB experience. Again, perhaps Chan is saving it. However, if there's any team to be ready for it, it will be the Jets. -
This. The schedule is really an up & down thing for the rest of the year: vs Jets at Dallas at Miami at Jets vs Tennessee at San Diego vs Miami vs Denver at New England No matter what everyone says, the game in Dallas will be a tough one, so I see 4-5 difficult matchups down the stretch out of the last 10 games. If they go 3-2 against Dallas/Jets/San Diego/New England, then I think they can't lose more than 1 to Miami/Denver/Tennessee in order to get to the 11-win mark. That should get them in the playoffs.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or throw it. The problem with the Bills' implementation of it is that they always seem to let Brad Smith run the option play with it. Perhaps they're setting this up for future use, but all they've done with it is run Smith off tackle. -
Where were these Refs on 1-8-2000??
BuffaloWings replied to flomoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems like this is the case, but you'd think that the on-field officials would be more quick to make the call. It's as if they hired a bunch of guys who generally have problems making decisions. Just make the call as you believe it to be correct. If you're wrong, replay will get it right. Did anyone think that if this crew was officiating that particular playoff game, they would have called it a lateral, anyway? -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It certainly was clear as the game went on that Aikman was beginning to compliment everything the Bills did. Remember, though, this will happen when a team takes control of the game. It makes no sense to bash a team when they're winning. Broadcasters will always jump on the bandwagon. That said, Aikman is still one of the better analysts in the game right now. The most important thing to me is that they controlled the game. The Redskins OL wasn't NFL-caliber yesterday and the Bills' front 7 made them pay. The Jets have a much better OL, but at least the Bills have a little swagger with their pass rush. The offense was in sync and this could have been 31-0 had they not committed any turnovers. This might not have been their best offensive performance, but it was good enough. I also don't take much away from this other than they won a game they really needed to win. I don't remember the last time there was a "must-win" game for this team. -

Whose going ot the Jets game next week?

It's my 1 game per year at the Ralph. This one better be more entertaining than last year's Jets game. -
Quick Impressions of this game...
BuffaloWings replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Still a tough one for me. I understand the reasons they're doing this, but I still don't like losing a true home game. As I watched the Skins take their first possession, I missed the loud, raucous crowd...even on TV. It didn't matter today, but a real home crowd could affect things. -
Well, to be fair, I think one of Washington's starting tackles was injured and didn't play. That said, this is what this defense needed. Dareus was all around the QB today. It's about time they dominated a clearly weaker team. Time to take this stuff to Sanchez.

Keep in mind that if you go back to the end of last season - which is basically what the NFL looks at when scheduling these games - you would think that many (if not all) of these games would be enticing enough to watch. The only questionable teams would have been Denver & Cleveland, coming off 4-12 and 5-11 seasons, respectively. However, Cleveland has a traditional rivalry with Pittsburgh, so I can see that game being shown nationally*. About the only reason I can see Denver being shown is because they're playing the Jets (big market team) and I'm sure the NFL hoped & prayed that Tim Tebow would be playing by the time this game came around. Even Minnesota had a down year, but were supposed to be going with Donovan McNabb and could have been better than they are. The plus side now is that at least Christian Ponder showed some flashes yesterday. Kansas City won their division in 2010 and so did Seattle (I know, they were a putrid 7-9). The Rams were supposed to be up-and-coming. Jacksonville usually fields a decent-to-good team. Every other team was a playoff team in 2010 or are in a big market or have a big national following. I don't think the NFL schedule makers really expected Kansas City, Indy, St. Louis, or Seattle to be so much worse, so I can't blame the NFL for this. The flex scheduling is the best thing they can do. Could they start it sooner? Possibly, but let's not lambaste them because Peyton Manning had 2 season-ending surgeries. * - Take the word "nationally" with a grain of salt. It's an NFL Network game, which isn't shown everywhere. -
Seriously bad officiating in that game. Maybe Rex threatened to eat the officials if they didn't give the Jets more calls.

My father died at 59 on his second heart attack. Immediately after, my doctor put me on cholesterol pills and I've been on them ever since (12+ years). I'm only 40, but who knows... It could simply be that Hull had heart issues and never knew it. I know guys who don't take care of themselves at all and (at the moment) have no health issues whatsoever. Kent might have been in great shape, but his heart just wasn't strong enough to last anymore.

I think we win at least 4 more games ....

What gives you the belief that they won't? -
Shocking doesn't begin to describe this...RIP, Kent. Your efforts did not go unnoticed.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffaloWings replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo. I think it was a good call at the time because they had single coverage on Stevie and he had Webster beat. Fitz just didn't execute. I can't fault Gailey if that's the play he called or especially if Fitz audibled to the pass. I'd just fault Fitz because of the throw. You can't win them all. -
Isn't he the punter?

This one is almost as mind-boggling as the lockout.

His game on Sunday was probably Mason's final nail in the coffin. I'll bet Rex showed everyone who's boss by benching Mason, then trading him. That'll show everyone not to open their mouth.

This. I care as much about power rankings as I do about missing an episode of "Say Yes to the Dress", but it's a different team this year. The bounces are going their way and it's fun watching them.

Why are we even talking about this? The Bills don't play Miami for another month. -
Moving on to the Giants Game
BuffaloWings replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Their DL is good with or without Tuck. What they need to do to combat the pressure is screen passes. Once they get 1 or 2 successful plays with those, the pressure will diminish a little bit. As for the Giants' running game, it's hard to say. Bradshaw & Ware don't exactly scare me from the power running game, but they can be dangerous with the right play calling. As always, I want to see pressure on the QB. Eli can easily be forced into mistakes, which is what the Bills' defense has been taking advantage of this year.
