  1. As for Freddie, that's all my fault. Every jersey I buy, I end up jinxing that player. I bought a Bledsoe jersey in mid-2002 right before he went downhill. I merely thought about a Trent Edwards jersey in 2008 and then he gets hit by Adrian Wilson. I bought Fred's jersey last year right before the broken leg. *sigh*
  2. I'm in...I don't know much about formulas for draft picks, but I would give up a 3rd rounder or two or maybe a 3rd & a 4th in different years. Either way, I like the idea of getting him now and drafting a QB next year...can't say I'm thrilled with this year's crop. That way, Buddy can get Manti Te'o and a solid complement to Stevie.
  3. I'm waiting for Goodell's combination of regular, American football and flag football. Good Lord, this is such a horrible idea.
  4. This. Outside of that, I've been saying since day 1 that Sanchez is the most overrated QB in the history of time. People have been putting him in Canton because he was the starting QB on a team that went to the AFC Champ game in his first two years. He was NOT the reason they did that - strong running game, great OL play, and an excellent defense is what got them that far. The only reason Sanchez looked good is because the running game was that good. Sanchez is going the way of Matt Leinart - to the clipboard.
  5. That's just it...he's an athlete - someone will give him a chance.
  6. inkman is spot on. I've seen this numerous times in my own career. Some guy tries to act like a jerk to his current mgmt because he doesn't like the way things are run. Even if he's right, it doesn't justify him doing something stupid to "teach them a lesson". It's a smaller world than you think...once word gets around that you did something unethical, good luck finding another gig. People don't realize the consequences of their actions.
  7. Ron Brooks 'Nuff said.
  8. I think the D has generally been improving since the bye. I don't think they played that badly against Houston (New England doesn't count because they were probably still cheating somehow), Miami, & Indy. I just wished they got it much earlier in the season....
  9. Bingo - they'll probably miss the playoffs by 1 game and they can all look back to the end of that Titans game and wonder. They would have been 4-4 going into the bye and have a little momentum. Honestly, I wasn't going to concern myself with Indy...they were really 4 games ahead of the Bills with the tiebreaker, so jumping ahead of them would be next to impossible.
  10. This. I don't care if they're playing the Jets' practice squad, it's still a win. I never want them to lose out to get a better draft pick. It's just silly, stupid, idiotic, and moronic to want your favorite team to lose. It's not like I'm expecting a miracle run to the playoffs, but I'll enjoy watching to see if it can happen. Besides...if it does, then nobody will be talking about the Bills having the longest playoff-less streak in the NFL.
  11. Really would have been nice if the Ravens and Chargers held on yesterday....
  12. He'd have to apologize to Polian and John Butler, too. Ralph's a meddling owner - it's just not as prominent as some of the others because Buffalo doesn't get the media attention. I'm sure the whole benching Flutie thing really ticked off Wade Phillips and made the whole 2000 season a mess to deal with. I don't doubt Mike Mularkey saw this after 2005 and got the H out of there. When he tried to release the control to Tom Donahoe, TD failed miserably, so Ralph took things over again. I'm sure this is widely known around the league, which makes it difficult to attract good GMs and coaches. When you know your decisions are going to be overruled on a weekly basis, then why bother taking the job?
  13. Yeah...because someone who works for E$PN says so, then it's true. This doesn't mean that the available QBs won't be good. I admit I haven't seen much of Nassib this year, but it didn't seem like he was quite there a year ago and needed a lot of work. Has he improved that much where he's worth a 4th round pick?
  14. Plus, it's almost a fact (read that carefully...I said almost) that once a player gets his extension, his performance drops off a cliff. I have nothing to corroborate this, but it seems that the player is less motivated to perform. This is why I'd love to see a maximum of 3-year contracts....as if it would ever happen.
  15. Part of the issue to me is whether or not he wants the GM gig, too. Is he also the GM in Philly? If so, that could also be contributing to the problems. I'd hope that Andy would take a year off (at least) to get himself and his family issues straightened out. I wouldn't want to hire him right off the bat for 2013.
  16. This is true, but it's not like it doesn't need to be said. I don't know who has Ralph's ear, but whoever it is needs to drive this home to him. As much as Ralph has done to keep football in Buffalo, it's time for him to give up the reins. Like Bucky said, bringing back Polian would be a start, but I don't know if that will happen. Bill wants to get back in the game, but does he hold a grudge to Ralph? Who knows...
  17. He's not going anywhere. He's said publicly that he loves his gig with MNF and wouldn't leave it. That said, expect him to take the job tomorrow.
  18. I see vegas55's point, but it's not the main reason they lost the game. Sounds like a little nitpicking here. What was more glaring was Chan's play-calling in the second half and the missed opportunities by the offense.
  19. Exactly. It all depends on the situation, but you don't do things like throw bombs on 1st & 10, run trick plays, blitz, or do fancy stunts with the LBs and DL. Otherwise, each player better be giving 100% effort. If the opponent is fumbling the ball or throwing it right to you, you happily take the turnover and let the offense take over. My point is...run a conservative game plan and run out the clock. You've made your point - get the game overwith.
  20. There's two schools of thought on this... 1 - Yes, if you're going to complain about the opponent running up the score, then stop them. Last night, Belichick told the NBC sideline reporter that he won't stop trying because he remembers the Buffalo-Houston comeback game. That's understandable (and legit at halftime), but the Bills started that comeback early in the 3rd quarter while all of Houston's starters were still in the game. It's not like the Bills got some momentum because Houston started playing all of their 2nd stringers. This leads to.... 2 - When you're well ahead late in the 4th quarter (let's say by 3 TDs) and controlling the game, you don't need to keep the first team in there. It was 52-24 against Indy last week when Brady was still throwing - THAT'S running it up. In 2007 when the Patsies were running it up on everyone, they were going for it on 4th down deep in the opponent's territory while they were ahead by 28 points and controlling the game in the 4th quarter. That's also running up the score. That's classless and unnecessary. Sure, if you don't like it, then stop them...but you've already proven that you can't, so why keep throwing the ball or going for it on 4th down? Because you're an arrogant POS who has to show the league that you're in control. I've heard many say this and agree with it - Belichick will get his when someone has the chance to run up the score on him. And I will be quite happy about it if it does happen.
  21. ARE WE F***ING SERIOUS???? You guys are sounding like the current NFL management - let's eliminate something that's been a huge part of the game for such a long time because one person complained about something remotely related to it. Get a grip, people.
  22. I'm surprised they didn't fine Fitz for hanging around the pocket too long just so he could get hit.
  23. My guess is that Chan is out-coaching himself. It looks like he's trying to make the defense think too much, when in fact, he's hurting the offense by putting in Choice and/or emptying the backfield on 3rd & 1. Maybe he does know that Spiller isn't exactly Earl Campbell out there, but at least put him in the field as an option. If you don't have your best player on the field at that point, then what's the point?
  24. Yeah, because that's exactly what Brady wants....a dirty hit that leads to a 15-yard penalty, an ejection, and a reason for his teammates to do the same to Fitz, Freddie, or Stevie. He needs to be hit as he's getting rid of the ball. Better yet, he needs to be hit *before* he gets rid of the ball. How about that?
  25. C'mon....they use him as a receiver! Seriously, as much as I've loved Fred, you guys may be right. Making Spiller the #1 guy is probably the way to go...but as y'all said, if Gailey would actually run the ball, it might be worth the move. He's just too in love with throwing it and using the RBs in traditional WR spots. Now, if we can do something about that defense, too...
