  1. Yeah, it kinda did....but only as I was typing. I just think it's a waste of time. I've worked with so many lazy people over the years that it literally disgusts me when they want a day off in order to "recover" from partying during a football game. There are plenty of days off in the year (we should all consider ourselves lucky to be able to have a day off). We don't need another one.
  2. Thank you. This "post Superbowl national holiday" crap is irritating me. It's only for the lazy people who just want another excuse to intoxicate themselves, drive home drunk, and potentially kill someone in the process. No wonder the USA is behind the rest of the world.
  3. Agree 10000%, but this essentially takes away a home game for the Bills. Despite what Brandon says, there is no advantage for the Bills from a "home field" perspective. This doesn't mean that they would have actually been competitive against Seattle, but it still felt like a road game.
  4. I didn't like them, but the NFL didn't fine the Bills for wearing them. They should have been fined for their performance while wearing the uniforms.
  5. I really hate the whole fine thing for being improperly dressed. Last I looked, the NFL wasn't a fashion show. I think Brady's fine is legit. I wouldn't have been upset if it was more, but the ESPN article made a good point...had the league not fined Brady at all, then defensive players would have been completely alienated and it would provide further proof of a double standard, IMO.
  6. I was at that game, which was one of Fitz's best games in a Bills uniform. Not sure which game you were talking about.
  7. Let's look at it this way...their two Superbowl losses were to the same team. Yes, a coach or two and a player or three may have been different, but it was the same core group of players and head coach that beat the Patriots twice. Maybe Tom Coughlin just knows how to beat Belichick. As for the regular season, they are just better than everyone else. A lot of that has to do with Brady, as many of us agree that this is a QB league...right? Maybe they're still cheating (since I don't understand how Wes Welker is wide open all the time), but maybe it also has to do with Brady being very good at reading defenses. Their WR corps seems to rotate every year and they've never had the great, elite RB...this tells me Brady is the reason they beat us and most of the league.
  8. Jaworski has been saying all morning that Brady was off last night. Hannah Storm tried to take all the blame away from him...it was windy & cold, Gronk wasn't playing, blah, blah....ESPN still tries to make excuses for him and the team. Fact is, he can't be going like this for much longer. The burden (boy, I wish the Bills had a burden like this) will be on his shoulders unless they get enough defense or a solid, consistent running game.
  9. Correct. And this was in November of that year when the Pats* went 16-0...they still had about 4-5 games left. I think I pulled a muscle in my face, since my jaw dropped so fast.
  10. I'll admit it's part jealousy for me, too. But I think that's human nature to hate something/someone because they keep getting what you want. For the same reason someone said about the Dolphins, I'm tired of being the Pats' B word. What I can't stand is the arrogance. Belichick acts like he is God's gift to football and then is a sore loser (what the H was up with him keeping the hood on last night during the postgame handshake with Harbaugh?). Brady gets the calls on the field and then whines like a little girl when he doesn't. This seems true of the entire team, also. Don't get me started about the fans, either. I know a good amount of Boston-based fans and not all are bad. However, the majority are just God-awful arrogant and ignorant about their team. If they don't win, it's the officials' fault. If they do win, they could have won by more. True story...during the 2007 season, I met a Patriots fan while on vacation. When he shook my wife's hand he asked how it was to be touching perfection. That said it all right there.
  11. Glennon, Dysert, Wilson, Nassib, & Jones...probably in that order. We need the big-time strong arm and I think the first 3 will give us that. I'd take Nassib if those guys aren't available, only because he played for Marrone & Hackett and knows them. Landry Jones would be at the bottom of my list. My jury is still out on Geno Smith. I didn't see the games where he put up huge numbers and the only one I did see is where the SU defense shut him down in the snow. That's just one game, so I don't want to eliminate him from that, but I do agree with how we need a guy who can handle the elements well. Global warming may not bring much more winter weather to Buffalo, but you still have to prep for it. Matt Barkley is overrated. Do not go anywhere near him.
  12. Um...it got significant national attention. I don't think fans will ever forget that. In a way, I do have to agree with Meathead (your avatar still creeps me out). There will always be a tarnish on his legacy for those Superbowl wins, knowing what Belichick and staff were caught doing. I won't deny the sour grapes, since they continue to beat up on the Bills and everyone in the league, but the way they keep playing these days, it still looks too easy for them. I mean...when Wes Welker catches 11-12 balls a game, how is it that defenses leave him wide open on almost every play? What I do respect about Brady is how he became an elite NFL QB after being drafted so low. That's gotta take a ton of hard work and patience. Even if he does know what the defenses will do, you still have to execute. As a Michigan fan, I do remember the QB battle between him and Drew Henson and telling a friend that it was clear to me that Brady was the better QB of the two. I never expected this out of him, but I do remember thinking that he was a good college QB and could make it in the NFL. Brady runs the offense like a machine and he has a good OL to support him. He will go down as one of the greatest and will end up in Canton. He was going up against Henson, who was supposed to be the best QB ever. Lloyd Carr had to give Henson playing time because of how highly regarded he was.
  13. This x 1000. I said in the Shoutbox yesterday that I think the league will eventually figure out how to stop these guys (Newton, RG3, Wilson, Vick, etc). I've seen it too many times - the NFL coaches can spend 24 hours a day for weeks on end if they have to. When you have plays in your game plan designed for the option or a QB run and the defense takes that away, then the QB needs to become a true pocket QB. This is why I think Andrew Luck will last a long time - he CAN run, but that's not his main weapon. Right now, Russel Wilson looks like he might be able to last a while because he doesn't usually run unless he has to. Yes, there are a handful of plays where it's a designed run, but Wilson has shown me that he'll sit in the pocket and make good throws. His mobility allows him to escape the pressure (which is really hard to defend), but it's not as if those plays are designed for him to run. Someone said earlier that if you design the offense around a running QB and he gets hurt, you're in trouble. We'll see how the Redskins can adjust if Griffin isn't ready for the first few games of 2013, but we've already seen what happened to the Eagles when Vick got hurt.
  14. It's either staged or he's overreacting just to make the kids enjoy it.
  15. He's good, but mostly a product of Kelly's system at Oregon. I'd consider other options before Mariotta. As for Clowney...he's an absolute beast. As long as he stays healthy, he'll be the consensus first draft pick of 2014.
  16. I would more than welcome an Atlanta-Houston Super Bowl. Tired of the stories and the Patriots.
  17. They've been the Redskins for years. If you're offended by it now, then go join the occupy movement for whatever reason they're protesting.
  18. We'll know the worm will have turned when the Bills get away with a forward lateral in a playoff game.
  19. Depends on the situation. Maybe someone can refresh my memory from 3 years ago, but I don't think there were that many vacancies in 2010. I don't think it's a secret that Gailey wasn't the Bills' first choice, either. From what I recall, a lot of us weren't happy that the search "took so long". But considering the high-profile nature of the coaching searches this year (i.e., how much media coverage they had), the Bills looked good to hire a guy that several teams had on their radar and do it quickly while other teams were screwing themselves by thinking Chip Kelly would actually coach in the NFL.
  20. I've just resigned myself to think it won't happen. He was the less-visible of the Bills' version of the triplets and didn't blow everyone away with the numbers (not that they aren't good enough). I don't even remember any huge or memorable plays that he was a part of that would help people remember who he was. To me, he put up solid numbers year after year after year. He came up big in the comeback game (3 TDs), but was always there getting the first downs, making key receptions to keep drives alive, and a general force over the middle of the field. One thing that jumps out at me is that Tim Brown or Cris Carter never made it to a Super Bowl. Yes, Reed had Kelly, Thurman, & Bruce to help him, but it's not like Reed didn't contribute to that goal.
  21. I'll concur, also. Marrone said this in the presser...run a scheme that fits to the personnel you have. Don't try to force a 3-4 on this team if you don't have the right players for it.
  22. +1000 I think you hit the nail on the head when you say that Marrone was actually a top candidate sought by other teams (Browns, Eagles, etc.). Gailey wasn't. The Gailey hiring was a bit of a surprise to me, but I didn't think we could have gotten much worse than what we had with Jauron. I like Gailey, too. I was extremely disappointed that he couldn't call the right plays or use Spiller effectively or manage the game right, especially considering he had been a head coach before. I think this is the best of both worlds for Brandon, Whaley, & Nix. I think they wanted a guy with HC experience, but also wanted someone with fire, enthusiasm, and the hunger - in his personality, as well as the coaching style. Besides, Marrone's hiring doesn't allow 85% of this board to complain that the hire is a retread...just 30% of the board to complain about how he doesn't have enough NFL experience.
  23. Pettine was the man, from everything I've heard. Yes, Rex is a defensive coach, but that doesn't mean he was running the D. Knowing Rex, he probably said what he did (about calling the defensive schemes) to throw Pettine under the bus and make himself look better. Moot point, anyway. Pettine was hired and I wouldn't be surprised if he brought a few coaches and maybe some players with him.
