  1. This is what ticked me off the most...Wannstedt was beyond stubborn. He kept saying that was the scheme they were going with, no matter how bad it was and no matter how much they were NOT improving. If it wasn't clear to him after the San Fran game, then the plane should have left without him.
  2. What a load of crap. If I was one of those fans, I'd leave...but not until got my $3K back. We do live in the United States, right? I've worn Bills gear to Philly, the Meadowlands, & Baltimore and have never had any trouble. The occasional heckling and ribbing, but it wasn't like I didn't feel safe. In fact, the Baltimore fans were the nicest to us - that was the game we were up 24-10 and lost on a BS call in OT.
  3. I think he is humble enough, but the "problem" is that he had enough success in Denver that he thinks (and many fans think) that he can be a starter for many years in this league. But the real problem is that he's not the stereotypical NFL-style QB, so no team wants to invest in him as their starter. He's a QB in a linebacker/fullback/tight end body, so teams would only take a chance on him to play one of those positions, even though he doesn't want to. While his teams win games, they also give coaches headaches and gray hair while doing so - he doesn't put up the numbers or move the ball until he absolutely has to (i.e., the 4th quarter when they're down by 10 points). He would need to be on a team with a very good defense that keeps them in the game, which is hard to rely on. He then gets the love from the fans because he pulls a game out of his ass and wins it, so the fans and media are all over the head coach about why he doesn't start. Tricky situation... If he was willing to accept a backup QB role and an occasional wildcat-type play (which is on the way out, if you ask me), then he can be in a good spot and know his role on that team and be successful. The thing is that he's too competitive to accept something like that - he's won games with an elite college program and an NFL team, so why would he want to accept a backup role? While I'm sure he's a great guy and wonderful teammate, I wouldn't want him on my team for these reasons.
  4. I think we're all just jaded over the lack of success in this town...we're now over-analyzing a new player's comment about wanting to win a Superbowl. Everyone take two of these: And get back to me after you're chilled out.
  5. Thank you. I don't mind him saying this...it may have been more realistic to say he was here to get the Bills in the playoffs, but I'm not upset about what he said.
  6. Already suggested....but peach Kolbbler works, too.
  7. Don't forget about the cherry Kolbbler for dessert.
  8. In general....eh. It's nice to see who picks who and the whole hype around it, but I'm not going to waste my day watching Mel Kiper shoot his mouth off and blind myself from the glare off of his hair. I'd rather spend my afternoons/evenings watching round 1 of the NCAA squeakball tournament. At least there is some legitimate action. This. If anything, it's better to stick with the weekend plan. Go back to starting round 1 at noon on Saturday. I know Goodell wants the prime time garbage, but it's gotta be a pain in the tush for the people involved to set up for maybe 3 hours on a Thursday night, then go back on Saturday morning.
  9. As long as they don't give up too many draft picks, I'd take it. I know he could be the next coming of Rob Johnson (what was it...2 good games he had in Green Bay and he's suddenly a hot commodity?), but I'm willing to take a chance. Free agent WRs aren't looking here because we don't have a QB. Get him now and maybe there's a chance we could land someone decent opposite Stevie. We'd still have to draft a QB, but it wouldn't have to be as high of a priority and could steal one in the later rounds...Tuel, Nassib, Glennon, Bray, etc.
  10. What can it hurt to contact him and start a discussion? The worst that can happen is he says no and you move forward as originally planned.
  11. So....NOW they change the rule? They might as well have changed it the day after Oakland got jobbed.
  12. Agreed...I don't see why they wouldn't at least give him a call.
  13. This. He'd probably be a late-round pick, at best. But what I see is a lot of Ben Roethlisberger with a more mobility. Not Cam Newton mobility, but more than BR. Just watch the jams he gets out of and turn negative plays into 20-yard gains. Bring him in and give him a shot, I say.
  14. Please God....no Barkley. I don't see any upside in him.
  15. The whole idea of putting a team back in LA was just insane. The people there just don't seem to care.
  16. Agreed, but I think we just like what he's saying right now. Nevertheless, it makes sense - why would Marrone give out info on players he knows right before the draft? Even more puzzling...why would other coaches bother to ask when they should know what the answer would be?
  17. Well, let's think about this... Why they would trade for him - Smith seemed to get it once Harbaugh showed up and only lost his job due to injury, so I wouldn't be worried about his abilities or confidence. If Marrone & Hackett are running a west coast style offense, then Smith would fit in well with this. Not saying he's the next Jim Kelly, but we'd expect the QB situation to be settled for now and see what they can do with him. With some of the talent on this team, it's not unreasonable to think the Bills would go get some more talent to fill the holes and hope to win now. Why they wouldn't trade for him - the Bills still have Fitz & T-Jax on the roster. Unless they plan on cutting Fitz, trading for Alex Smith wouldn't make any sense. They'd essentially have three marginal starters or a starter (Smith) and two #2 QBs, assuming Tyler Thigpen is gone, too. That's a lot to keep on the roster. Plus, it would make more sense for Marrone to go with a younger QB that he can develop. Kansas City makes the most sense in this. Throw Smith in with Andy Reid and they've solved their QB issue for now. Plus, I agree San Fran wouldn't trade him within the division (Arizona) without asking for a ton in return.
  18. I think they're going after someone big...no tender to Jones or Nelson would tell me this.
  19. Just like re-living the Super Bowl years...let's move on, please.
  20. Precisely. Probably because of how news travels so quickly with the internet, social media, etc., we're constantly fed news from the minute after the Super Bowl ends to the minute before training camp starts. I haven't felt a true "off season" since 2001. Usually, I can occupy myself with hockey, baseball, and a little bit of the squeakball stuff, but once August comes around and baseball is a little stale, I'm all in with the training camp news & info. Now the NFL wants to capitalize on its popularity, so they're making everything in the non-playing season into an event. They build up the combine, the draft, and every OTA as if it's Week X of the regular season.
  21. This...do we think he's like Ralph and will meddle in the GM's business to insist we draft a specific player? I don't think so. Like others said, if I'm the CEO of a company and we're about to spend millions on a certain asset, I'd want to take a look at it myself before the commitment is made.
  22. This. It's becoming a little nauseating when legislators are trying to parent everyone else's kids. Our society has gotten to the point where we're trying to be so ultra-safe and protective that we're hindering our kid's ability to live life and learn on their own. We're starting to see the children of the entitlement/politically correct era (those who got trophies for finishing in 6th place, become spoiled, and are now rebelling because they don't get that trophy anymore) become leaders in our society. They never made decisions for themselves and don't want accountability. God help us...
  23. I don't know...Superbowl Sunday has been a tradition because the NFL plays their games on Sundays. Yes, there are Thursday night games, an occasional Saturday night game, and the playoffs on Saturdays, but that's not a reason to move the game to Saturday. The host city probably gets a ton of $$ on Saturdays and even that Sunday from the game being in town and no matter on what day of the week the game is held, the NFL will get all of the ratings and money from the commercials, sponsors, and anyone & everything who is affiliated with the league. If the sole reason for moving the game to Saturday is to appease the fans who just want to party some more, that's pretty pathetic.
  24. Only slightly, IMO. He had a bad year in 2012 and isn't exactly young anymore...though at 31, isn't THAT old, either.
  25. Kelsay has to have something on Ralph Wilson to be hanging on this long. Yeah, great leader & locker room guy, but seriously....
