Gotta say I'm impressed with KC so far. So much for losing Charles. -
Playoffs : KC Chiefs at Indy Colts

We'll see what happens now. Indy probably focused on stopping Charles all week long, so who knows what the Chiefs will do. -
Murray or AJ McCarron. I think either would transition well to the NFL.

Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
BuffaloWings replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there is a God in heaven, this will end. Please Russ/Doug/Ralph...end this nightmare. -
This. They should also look at OL before picking another QB. Even if the best QB is available for the first three rounds, it won't matter if he doesn't have someone in front of him worth his salt. I was also disappointed in EJ's performance...Jekyll & Hyde, injured half the time, etc. If he gets consistent playing time, he *should* improve. But like a head coach, you gotta give him a fair shot. Half a season isn't enough.

Colts over KC...I just don't believe enough in the Chiefs and Indy just seems to find ways to win. Eagles over Saints...I think this will be close, but Philly pulls it out because the Saints are just a different team away from the Superdome. Bengals over Chargers...Cincy's defense will step it up. Packers over 49ers...probably a homer pick for me, but Green Bay is a different team with Rodgers. I know their D has disappointed, but I have a feeling they'll come to play on Sunday.

Does Fred Jackson merit wall of fame?
BuffaloWings replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have his jersey. I want him to get the ball on a crucial 3rd and 1. I watch him encourage the rookies on the sidelines. He's the ultimate team player. But I don't think he's earned wall of fame merit just yet. If they make a playoff run with him, then probably. -
Bills 2014 opponents - Home & Away
BuffaloWings replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be even more clear on opening day, and even much clearer than that midway through October. Yeah, you can get an idea of how difficult the schedule will be, but maybe the Raiders will suddenly emerge and the Chiefs will suddenly disappear from relevance. My point is...you won't know until you play them. I'm sure everyone here (myself included) thought we'd have wins over KC, Cleveland, Tampa Bay & Jacksonville before the season started. -
Just win baby! I never root for the Bills to lose...ever. I see no point in wanting them to lose for a draft pick higher than they'd get otherwise.

Moeaki to be active Sunday
BuffaloWings replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry...I don't mean to be the grammar nazi, but this drives me nuts. As for the subject, I'm more than interested to give anyone a chance. If Moeaki can stay healthy, I like this. -
Those two drops *almost* cost my fantasy team, but I still squeaked into the finals. I don't know what was up with Calvin - he made the tough catches, but the ones that hit him between the 8 & the 1 were dropped. Perhaps they were too easy for him.

It's always a fun day here in Dallas when...
BuffaloWings replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt it, really. Of all the Dallas fans I know, they look at the Bills as a minor league team. I have two friends who CONSTANTLY rip me about the Bills every chance they get. Both are Dallas fans. Both probably broke a lamp or put a hole in their wall yesterday. Once that game was over, I cracked open a Sam Adams and celebrated. -
And it would deal them quite a blow to their playoff hopes. At the moment, they're the second wild card..pending Baltimore's result tonight. Even more reason for the Bills to show up for the home finale. I don't see how ANYONE could think along these lines. A "true fan" wants their team to win every time they take the field. Despite the veterans here, this is still a young team and a new coaching staff. All them need to win games to boost their own morale. Finish on a high note and get back to work in March.

Again...rookie QB, rookie *backup* QBs, rookie WR immediately expected to be #2, rookie ILB, lost the best OL (IMO) to free agency, and numerous injuries. Even through all of that, they've been in every game with the exception of two. Tough to can Marrone after this campaign, don't you think? I've seen this a million times...you CAN'T fire a coach after 1 season unless he's doing something completely illegal and immoral. Give the man a chance, please.

Was the season lost before it started

This is why I stick with the RedZone channel on Sundays. If the Bills are on in my area, I watch them. If the game turns sour, I flip to RZ to watch different games and ones that are potentially exciting (BAL-MIN, for example). There are a number of things that have been bugging me about the league these days...overboard with protecting players, suspect officiating, reviewing everything under the sun, you name it. It all seems scripted and done so to help out the larger market teams. Heck, you could make a case for the league helping the Bills lose enough that they get them to move to LA (don't get me started on LA having or wanting a team) and be in a large market. I just think that the league is trying to change things so much to accommodate everyone that they're shooting themselves in the foot. It's over-regulation and not necessary. This game was great back in the 90s when Tagliabue was running things...let's leave it alone.

I think what he means is to get rid of those who have been with this team for a while and replace them with fresh blood. Changing the culture of the organization may have to start with a tough decision. Cutting Stevie would be a bold move, but one that would certainly wake people up. I've been a Union College hockey season ticket holder since 1997. They were annual doormats in the ECAC for years until they hired Nate Leaman in 2003. Leaman recruited players to fit his system, but when some of those guys became problematic (on or off the ice), he benched them. One player in particular was very popular and a good player, but did something bad enough off the ice to warrant being kicked off the team. It wasn't popular, but it was effective. When players weren't performing or continuously committing mental mistakes, he benched them for a game or two...even the top scorers. It's something like this that would need to be done in order for the appropriate message to be sent. It's Marrone's job to get wins. If someone like Stevie keeps dropping crucial passes or fumbling or shows he's not putting up the right effort, then cut him loose. Despite his talent, you can't keep screwing up and keep your job.
-
Sure...just like Rob Johnson. Wait... If the organization was worth their salt, they'd give Marrone 3 years to figure it out. Unless he's doing something illegal, immoral, unethical, or just being a plain pr*ck to everyone in the locker room, he's not going anywhere. Some of you forget that he has NFL coaching experience. He's not just a guy from a mediocre school in a mediocre conference. He's been around the NFL a little bit. Give the man a chance to figure it out...please.

Haven't read through the entire thread yet, so I apologize if this has already been discussed... This is along the lines of the guys who have sued and will eventually sue the NFL for not informing them of the risks involved. If they had been playing football their entire lives, they'd know it's a physical game with significant risk of injury (unless your name is Tom Brady), so there's no reason to file a lawsuit. That said, if you think about those players who have had head problems and are showing signs of brain damage or CTE later in life (Mike Webster, Junior Seau, Tony Dorsett, Dave Duerson), then maybe it's not such a horrible thing to try and limit the unnecessary actions that lead to things like this. Of course, if players these days were to actually tackle correctly...i.e., not lead with their helmet...then we may not see these injuries as often. As to the OP's point, the older I get, the more numb I am to possible conspiracies or favoritism. I've been watching this game since the early 80s and I've always loved to see the underdog win. I like to see teams get chances that haven't been there in a while. When you go 12+ years of seeing the same teams in the playoffs over & over, it gets stale...and it also reeks of something fishy going on, especially when you see a bogus PI call that helps the Patriots win...again.

I'm fairly certain that the plan was to start Kolb and have EJ sit behind him for a little bit. As much as I cringed at the idea of Kevin Kolb, the examples provided by BillsVet prove the point that it's not such a bad idea to sit your first round QB for a while. In September, I was excited at the idea of seeing EJ start and seeing what he had. Suffice it to say, that excitement isn't there so much anymore. It's looking more & more like EJ was rushed into this too quickly, though not the fault of him or the coaches, really. As to the "slow eyes", I'm agreeing with that more & more now. EJ waits until he sees a receiver open before the throws the ball. That's already too late. For anyone that didn't watch the Saints-Panthers last night, NBC showed a perfect angle where Brees threw the ball to Jimmy Graham *before* he made his break and *before* he even looked for the ball. Brees knew Graham's route and knew when he'd need to catch the ball. Someone needs to find that shot and send it to Hackett & Marrone to show EJ how it's done. He has to trust his receiver to run the correct route and make a play for the ball. If they're not on the same page, then nothing good will happen out of that.

I agree about the options. This is what happens when you're in a 12-team league with a 20-man roster. Thanks!

Made the playoffs in one league, missed in the other. The second league has two divisions and I finished in second place, but they took the best 4 teams overall and I missed out. Ugh...tough road for me in the first league. I'll be lucky to get past this week.
