  1. Or maybe (*gasp*) Matt Cassel. It really wouldn't hurt for the Bills to have a veteran backup. Too many young, inexperienced QBs on this roster. This is why I was a little disappointed when Kevin Kolb went on IR last year. Yeah, he's not the Jim Kelly-type of savior, but at least he could have played a few games and let EJ watch. Kolb had been around a few years, so at least he had *some* starting experience.
  2. Geez....one could make a case for firing Marrone, Philbin, or Ryan. Florio didn't exactly go out on a limb with that statement.
  3. I never played organized football, but does a shield really matter? Can a DB see the QB's eyes from 30 yards away? I'd think they'd be more in tune with where his head is "aimed" than his eyes. As for Johnny Fingerball, no. The kid is immature and extremely raw right now. I don't see him translating to the pro game anytime soon.
  4. When I saw the picture of him hugging Jimbo, my eyes welled up.... Congrats, Andre. Thank you for acknowledging us. You da man!
  5. Yes, baby steps. A winning or .500 record would be a start.
  6. I haven't read through all 5+ pages of this, but here's my take.. Stevie was a bright spot over the past 5-6 years when the team was the epitome of mediocrity. I didn't mind the showmanship (though I was glad that Gailey benched him for doing stupid stuff on the field), he usually put up good numbers, and he was one of the few WRs who was consistently beating the so-called best DB in the game (Darelle Revis). That said, I think it was time for him to go. His fumbles and drops at the worst possible times, along with the lack of chemistry he had with EJ probably led to the trade. I hope he does well in San Fran, just not when they play Buffalo.
  7. I still say I have a hard time believing this. Isn't this just a rumor that he's joining with MLSE? I haven't heard anything concrete. Like we haven't heard this one before... I've been a fan of their music since 1985. I love it and always will..say whatever you want. But I still think we should sit back and let this shake out. I honestly don't believe he'd be interested in moving the team.
  8. This...I don't remember a game-winning kick of that magnitude being called back because of a penalty. In fact, I don't ever remember a flag thrown on any of those high-profile, potential game-winning plays. That guy's uncle is probably right - I don't think any ref would want to be the guy who called a penalty to nullify a game-winning FG in the Superbowl...no matter who the team is.
  9. If I understand it correctly, the trust can sell to whomever they want, as long as the buyer pays fair market value. It shouldn't have to go to the highest bidder. If the team is worth $850 million (don't know the exact number, but we'll use that for now), then the trust can sell to a buyer that offers $900 million and the promise to keep the team in Buffalo over (for example) Donald Trump or a buyer that offers $1 billion without any guarantee to keep the team in Buffalo. This is how I understand it, but I may have missed a detail or two in the explanation I heard.
  10. It's time for new blood. No more pickups from the scrap heap.
  11. I doubt we'd see them on Thanksgiving night. I think NBC has that game and they would want teams that would draw more of a national audience.
  12. Done. Get well, Jimbo. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  13. Geez...I didn't realize things were that bad. Be well, Jimbo. We're all pulling for you.
  14. I'd take this with a grain of salt. McShay's mock is a bit odd, since he has Watkins dropping so far. I also never trust anything Kiper has to say - really wish I knew how he was still employed. That said, if Watkins drops to us, I think it's a no-brainer. Otherwise, I'd go with the best OT available.
  15. I think because it spreads the games out a lot so that we're inundated with football all week...giving the pundits something to talk about when the baseball playoffs are over. Which...of course...is exactly what the NFL wants. These games are always difficult to schedule. You'd think right now that something like Denver vs Arizona is supposed to be a good game, but if both teams fall apart and just suck by the time this game is played, what do you do?
  16. They use it all the time at their shows. I guess the excuse this time was that they didn't want any sound issues in the stadium. I just wonder why they didn't just come out and say they didn't want to be electrocuted when it started to rain...
  17. It's all about the $$ and getting people to watch. Nobody will want to watch the year's highlights when they can find it online, nor does anyone care about marching bands anymore (sadly). The acts are getting back to the bizarre and immature - I think the league got away from that after the "wardrobe malfunction", but it's now returning to the less-than-classy acts now. That said, I thought Bruno Mars did a good job until the Chili Peppers went out there, faked playing music, and turned it into a freak show.
  18. He'd certainly be up there in the discussions with Montana & Brady. The team would have been considered a dynasty. People would have hated the Bills like we hate the Patriots now. I agree with VirginiaMike, too. I don't know if they make it to 4 in a row if Norwood's kick isn't as far right as it was.
  19. This, but remember that a good coordinator builds his scheme based on the personnel. This is why Wade has been successful wherever he's been as a DC. Bill Parcells did this, Bill Belichick did this, etc. Remember when Gregg Williams tried to force an offense on Rob Johnson or when Jauron came here and ran a Cover 2? It doesn't necessarily work unless you have the right personnel.
  20. The difference is what Pettine said during is PC - there are only 32 of these jobs around, so you gotta take it when you're offered it. Besides, it's not like Pettine asked the Bills if it was ok for him to interview with Cleveland. If I'm looking for another job, I don't say a peep to anyone I work with. This is the widely popular NFL, so rumors and such go around so that it becomes public.
  21. That rant just solidified my opinion of the Seahawks. They're an excellent team with an outstanding defense and great young QB, but they talk WAY too much. Yes, they can back it up, but it makes me wonder about how much control Pete Carroll has over this team where they shoot their mouth off like that. At least Russell Wilson has some class.
  22. Because it took half the quarter. I'm telling ya...this was Denver's plan all along. Just what the Giants did to us in SB XXV.
  23. I like what Denver is doing...moving the ball, but not quickly. They're eating time off the clock and keeping the ball away from Brady. This is how they have to do it if they're gonna win.
