  1. Well, I'd hesitate to say that this is very Wade-like. To me, Wade just seemed like a guy who was completely out of touch and made decisions based on the previous 5 minutes. At least Jauron seems like he communicates with people. And again, I wonder if this was a planned announcement - like a team announcing a new head coach - or if he was just answering a reporter's question.
  2. Did Jauron say this as part of a conversation to the media? Did he come out at a press conference and make this announcement? Was he answering a question from a reporter? I don't think we should be treating this like the Bills were introducing a new head coach or something, unless that's how it appeared. That said, I agree...worry about the 2007 starter in August of 2007, not December of 2006 when you're still mathematically alive for the playoffs and about to play your biggest rival. This is also why I think we shouldn't worry about Nall just yet. Two months ago (when it appeared the season was cooked), I was all for seeing what Nall had, as I thought Losman was going nowhere. But now that the offense is playing better and the team is still mathematically alive, let's not rock the boat - keep Losman in there, as it seems he's bonding/gelling with the rest of the offense. Don't take him out now.
  3. So then Ralph should build a new stadium to be smaller....say, 60,000 seats plus numerous suites/boxes. This is such a joke - why do the big markets/popular teams build stadiums smaller than such a small-market team?
  4. Kelly, you're a genius! I honestly agree....that would be a hell of a move by Hilary. It would certainly endear herself to the WNY Bills fans. Of course, I wonder if she realizes there's a NY team outside of East Rutherford, NJ.
  5. I'd only worry about this IF it happened.
  6. The one team that worries me at the moment is Denver. I figure they're too good of a team to keep losing so many consecutive games, despite how their QB is playing. Jax & KC don't bother me so much, since we have the tiebreaker over Jax and KC has a tough finishing schedule. The Bills know this...but take care of your own business first!
  7. Yes, he was....but he started his career in Green Bay and really played well for them for a few years before coming to Buffalo.
  8. For each position, I ordered them based on who I thought was the best player I saw at that position. That said, I don't remember seeing anyone before the early 80s teams of Ferguson, Butler, etc. So, any player with an asterisk is one that I know is worth putting on this list, though I never saw them play. Coach - Marv Levy QB - Jim Kelly, Jack Kemp*, Joe Ferguson, Frank Reich HB - Thurman Thomas, OJ Simpson*, Cookie Gilchrist*, Joe Cribbs FB - Sam Gash, Jamie Mueller WR - Andre Reed, Jerry Butler, Frank Lewis, James Lofton, Eric Moulds, Don Beebe TE - Jay Riemersma, Pete Metzelaars OL - Kent Hull, Jim Ritcher, Will Wolford, Reggie McKenzie DE - Bruce Smith, Phil Hansen NT/DT - Fred Smerlas, Jeff Wright LB - Shane Conlan, Cornelius Bennett, Daryl Talley, Jim Haslett, Bryce Paup CB - Nate Odomes, Steve Freeman, Antoine Winfield S - Mark Kelso, Henry Jones P - Chris Mohr, Brian Moorman K - Steve Christie, Scott Norwood ST - Steve Tasker, Steve Tasker, Steve Tasker Items worth mentioning in no particular order: Sam Cowart was going to be a stud until he hurt his achilles I don't know why Riemersma didn't last longer - GREAT receiving TE, in my opinion Kent Hull had to be the best C of the early 90s Guys like Lofton, Paup, & Gash should be on this list, even though they made a name for themselves elsewhere Is Tasker on the Wall of Fame? He should be by now....maybe the NFL HoF??
  9. That's actually not a bad plan, but don't the Bills limit the number of season tickets? A guy I work with (I live & work in Albany) buys season tickets every year and ends up trying to get rid of his tickets half the time. Probably not the smartest thing to do, since he doesn't have the intention of going, but things like this add to the no-shows.
  10. I voted for great, but the word "under-rated" suits him more. He's not at the Bruce Smith level, but probably a notch or two below him. He's also not a DE that just occupies the position. Opponents now can't disregard him - especially on passing downs.
  11. There's nothing illegal about this. If you can have someone on your team figure out a pattern with the other team's signals and translate that to specific plays, then I'm all for it. It's not cheating - it's an art and a way to gain an advantage. Cheating is when you put a camera in CF to study the catcher's signs to the pitcher and have that camera feed into the clubhouse. If Brady gave the same audible calls throughout the game and Miami picked up on them, then great. Brady will now never do that again...and I'm surprised that the other genius (Belichick) didn't realize it, either. Of course, ESPN doesn't want to say how BB was out-coached on something - that could never possible happen.
  12. I see how this can be a good idea....given Berman's historic affection for the Bills. It may be worth him mentioning it on Gameday or someone on Sportscenter talking about it, but I don't see that happening. ESPN talks about TO, Tony Romo, the Cowboys, Vince Young, Reggie Bush, etc. because they are the "hot" topic subjects that most of the country would like to hear about (at least that's what ESPN would tell you). The majority of the country probably wouldn't give a rat's a$$ if they were talking about the CBA and how it affects the Bills. If Chris Berman brought it up and had the other "experts" talk about it, then I'd be happy. But I don't know if the fans' efforts would be enough to get ESPN to notice.
  13. I never said I was satisfied and I don't think many of us are saying that, either. We're happy that the team is improving - a little bit here & there and enough to win some games, but I can't say that we're all "satisifed". Nonetheless, I see the problem here....your expectations haven't been adjusted since 1993. The Kelly/Thomas/Reed/Lofton/Beebe/Metzelaars offenses were obviously a dangerous passing team. While I don't readily have the numbers, they had to be among the NFL's top 10 offenses - probably even over the 5-6 years when they began winning in 1988. I don't think the 2006 Bills passing offense is *inexcusable* at 30th because many of us (outside of you, apparently) did not expect them to be much better than that. If we (fans, media, etc.) *expected* the Bills to run their offense like Indy's, only then would a 30th-ranked offense be inexcusable. Ask the 1985 Bears and 2000 Ravens whether or not their lowly-ranked offense mattered in the end. Bottom line - they could run the ball well, had GREAT defenses, and threw the ball just enough to keep defenses honest.
  14. So, we played not to get blown out, yet we almost actually WON the game. The game plan was done well enough against Indy - run and run. Did you see their loss to Jacksonville on Sunday? Why the H would anyone try to pass against them? We're upset with your comments because the Bills are winning their games by (here's a shocker) RUNNING THE FOOTBALL. Marv has always said - along with a billion other coaches - that to win, you have to run and stop the run. Look at the top 10 teams in passing offense right now: New Orleans 303.5 yds/game Indianapolis 272.2 yds/game Philadelphia 255.8 yds/game Cincinnati 249.5 yds/game St. Louis 248.4 yds/game Detroit 246.1 yds/game Dallas 242.5 yds/game Pittsburgh 240.2 yds/game Green Bay 237.1 yds/game Arizona 220.9 yds/game Five of these teams either will not make the playoffs or are all but eliminated from the playoffs. Philly and Cincinnati are barely in, if the season ended today. Don't get hung up on wanting to see more passing...it doesn't necessarily translate to continual winning. I suppose you would've been an unhappy Ravens fan in 2000, also. Terrible passing offense, yet they won the Superbowl.
  15. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.... I loved the stomping yesterday, but the win was against the Jets who the Bills played very well against in September (save for a few boneheaded penalties and some lucky plays by the Jets) AND the Jets seem to be as consistent as the Jaguars. The main positive I take out of this game is that they finished what they started. They took turnovers for scores and held the Jets to a mere FG after their own turnover. I'm still worried about 1 game at a time. Miami is VERY winnable next week. PLEASE....let this game be sold out!!!
  16. Sterling said that just because it was the sexy pick...with Vince Young and all the hype around him. Sad...Sterling seems to be the only guy there that gives a crap about his own opinion. Either way...let the "experts" give pub to whoever they want. If the Bills somehow sneak in, they all be eating their own piece of crow pie.
  17. I loved it. That was a true spanking of the Cowboys in their own yard. The Saints - and Sean Payton - showed me something last night.
  18. Agreed....I don't know if Jauron outcoached Mangini, but Chad Pennington played a horrible game. A lot of his passes were high, behind the receiver, or generally difficult to catch - including Nate's INT. The Jets' D was 26th in total rushing defense coming into today (Bills were 28th), so the Bills had the right game plan. The Jets were able to run the ball, but once they fell behind, they threw some more, which is where Pennington's bad game comes in. I thought the Bills did a decent job of holding down the run game in the second half, but the Jets just couldn't throw it when they wanted to.
  19. Every week signifies the Bills' season. A loss today and they would have been done. Next week is the same. I still don't think they'll make the playoffs, but the Bills have been showing me something better every week since the bye. Who did they play before the bye? I forget.... The next two games are very winnable, but Miami's D is playing too well right now. I don't know if the Bills can run like they did today, so Jauron & Fairchild better think up something good.
  20. He also played in the whitewash at home against NE last year. Lots of snow in that one, though I don't remember much after kickoff....
  21. There was a game last night? Oh yeah...NFL Network.
  22. I agree they have to contain LT, but not completely focus on him. The way to win (IMO) is to contain LT and Gates and let Rivers try to beat you by throwing to the WRs. Stopping a great offense usually involves taking away a weapon and making them beat you with one of their "lesser strengths". That said, it's going to be hard. What do you do....put 7 in the box and assign a safety to double-cover Gates on all pass plays?
  23. They may be falling apart, but I think Tennessee was the low point. I think the Giants will rebound and play better this week with the home crowd. A win this week and they're tied for the division lead with the tiebreaker over "America's Team". That might be enough to spring them back into the hunt. If not, Tom Coughlin will be unemployed in January.
  24. Not that most of us would be able to see it..... I don't think we should get too hyped up over this. If Cincy loses AND the Bills win on Sunday, then we can start thinking...dare I say it....PLAYOFFS?!?!?!??
  25. Very true...and unfortunately, we'll see Mort and Pasquarelli say what a good draft pick TD made. The wins have been nice and I'm very glad JP played a big part with the last-minute drives. I stopped defending him after the NE game (and called for Craig Nall, as well), but let's hope he keeps proving me wrong.
