  1. I think you meant Week 3 against the Jets. They beat Miami in Week 2. It really doesn't matter what we think....whether or not one play could have given them an extra win doesn't matter. Generally, in games where they didn't deserve to win (see: Detroit), they would have never gotten that "one play". Still, this is a different team than the one we watched go 2-5. JP isn't making mistakes, he has some more freedom, the OL is protecting him better (not outstanding, but better), and the defense is stepping up and making stops when they need to. They still can't be considered a playoff team, since they're 1-2 in games against legit playoff teams, but they have confidence and they're buying into the coaches' systems. No matter what type of talent you have, that usually translates into wins. As for next year, I think they would only NOT continue this success if they lose a player or two or run into a rash of injuries. As long as Jauron, Fairchild, and Fewell keep running a system around the personnel, they'll be in good shape.
  2. As someone said to me (well, a group of people including me) once...."Polls are nice, but so are ceramic dalmatians." This all means nothing except for the so-called experts trying to save their own face near the end of the season. The only thing I take out of power rankings is whether or not the media is paying attention to the Bills.
  3. Yeah...like staph infections.
  4. It's this type of thing that curses Buffalo sports teams. If I recall correctly, Bruce Smith missed the '95 Divisional playoff game at Pittsburgh because he had the flu.
  5. Honestly, I'm not that worried about them getting snubbed. Yes, they all deserved to go, but this doesn't mean they're not excellent players worth being on this team. I'm happy they're on this team right now. Maybe they'll gain some recognition when the Bills start winning more - the self-proclaimed experts usually don't pay attention until a team starts winning.
  6. Not to worry....once the Bills are done for the season, the Sabres will have about 2 months to get it together. A 2-game losing streak. I'm sure the Phlyers fans really feel bad for us.
  7. Well, everything I get is the 2005 roster. Unless Edgerrin James still plays for Indy, something tells me the roster was removed completely for now.
  8. Generally speaking, good teams rebound from games where they had their a$$ handed to them. I'm not sure Miami is there yet, but I hope to God they get themselves straightened out by Monday. That said, the AFC has been so inconsistent lately (see: Jaguars, Jets), I think the Jets are more likely to lay an egg than Miami would be to rebound.
  9. Wow....what a whiner. There's no better way of comparing two teams than head-to-head competition. Bills 2, Dolphins 0.
  10. Last week's game should be a good starting point. It's not like I'm asking for them to show the Bills over the Jets....that'll NEVER happen. But the Jets aren't even playing ON THE SAME DAY as the Bills this week. I'm just tired of the Patsies getting all the attention around here.
  11. Even better.....the more reasons I can give to them, the better. As if it'll really help.
  12. So, it looks like Channel 6 out of Albany (really in Schenectady) will be showing the Pats-Jags game. I had some faint hope that they would show the Bills & Titans since the Jets are playing Monday night and the Bills-Titans game is somewhat important. But, it's not to be.... Does anyone have a legitimate email address with which we can bombard them? I'd love to see those of us in the Albany area really tell Channel 6 that there are enough Bills fans in the area who have suffered with the Jets & Patriots long enough. No, the Bills aren't the face of the NFL like the Patriots, Cowboys, and Colts, but this would really make my day if they were to show us the Bills on Christmas Eve. Top 5 reasons that Channel 6 should show this game: 1. Vince Young, who the entire football world is drooling over 2. Plenty of Bills fans in the area (not to mention the only team in NY, of course) 3. Playoff implications - it's like a playoff game, since the loser is out and the winner is still alive 4. We know the Patriots are in, so why do we need to watch them? 5. Two good stories - Bills are 5-2 since a 2-5 start, Titans are 7-2 since an 0-5 start Anyone else agree? The Bills have been shown here 4 times this year - twice because they were playing the Jets. I don't think enough people in the area would be upset if they missed out on the Patriots - they'll see them again in early January.
  13. Good points about JP. He doesn't have to be a Peyton Manning-type superstar - just play exactly like he did yesterday.
  14. Why?? This was exactly like a non-blocked punt that was muffed by the returner 50 yards downfield.
  15. You may be on to something Kelly, but I'd be more inclined to believe that wasn't his intention...rather it was an effect of JP being benched. My thinking is that MM just wanted to win a few games to save his job, thus starting Holcomb. Mularkey did us more of a favor by quitting and joining the Dolphins.
  16. No it won't. Don't be fooled by the fact that a KC player "blocked" the kick. The rule is that the ball just has to cross the line of scrimmage - not the first down marker, which is all a punt has to do (or even a FG attempt). Once a kick crosses the line of scrimmage, the opposing team has all "rights" to the ball until they muff it, then it's a free/live ball. Because the KC player muffed it, the ball became live and SD recovered it. Note that the SD punter immediately knew that - he seemed to be the only guy on the field who did.
  17. But the difference was that a KC player touched the ball past the line of scrimmage, didn't control it, and a SD player recovered it. Because the KC player didn't control the ball, it's exactly like a fumble and SD recovers it. This is exactly like the play where Leon Lett touched the ball after a blocked FG attempt (Thanksgiving Day, 1993 vs Miami) and Miami recovered and then kicked the winning FG. Why Herm Edwards was arguing the play is beyond me - that was the right call.
  18. And imagine how many of us - myself included - felt after the drubbing by the Pats in Week 7. I had written the season off and called for Craig Nall. I still think there's a slim chance of the playoffs (PLAYOFFS?!!?!?!?), but 'tis the season for miracles, right?
  19. It's possible that I missed the actual "highlights", but I watched the show from 7:20 on and I didn't see them. Don't tell me NBC forgot about this game....
  20. As usual...great post, Bill. I really like to hear stuff like this since I rarely get to see the game live. Now my comments.. 5 - I have to disagree here. At this point, keep Losman in the game no matter the score. Keep him synchronized, bonded, whatever with the OL and the rest of the offense. Yeah, injury is a risk, but he's getting it now. About the only time I'd take him out of a game is if he got beaten up by a tough defense and the game is out of hand late in the 4th. 10 - Someone please tell me that this was as effective as Taylor and Peters were in their roles all day. Wow!!!!!!!
  21. Is the radio feed archived somewhere? I was out all day and never got a chance to hear the radio broadcast.
  22. Like many teams, the Jags have just been too inconsistent this year. I can very easily see them dropping the game @ Tennessee this week, yet coming back to beat New England the next week. We just don't know what team will show up. Kansas City can easily throw a wrench into that plan by beating SD on Sunday night. I think it's unlikely, but a KC win really hurts us - again, presuming good things happen at The Ralph. I think our best bet for the Jets to lose it is this weekend. I think they could go into Miami on Christmas Day and win if the Fins are out of the picture. Still so much to worry about....and plenty of time left.
  23. For me... 5 favorite: Comeback game vs Houston 51-3 31-0 over the genius in 2003 1994 AFC Champ - Kelly looking at the camera and saying "We're baaaaaaaack!!!" Flutie's "Lambeau Leap" against Jax in 1998 5 worst: Music City Gift "Just give it to 'em" Wide right The entire 2001 season Anytime a Bills kicker misses a potentially game-winning FG
  24. This is easily the best reason that Jauron would say this now - to build up JP's confidence. But the only way it really matters is the context in which he said it - a response to a question is perfectly fine, but to initiate the discussion about it is something else.
