  1. The Hughes unsportsmanlike call reminded me of what Andre Reed did in the 1998 playoff game down there...trying to get up, he accidentally bumps into the ref, so he throws a flag. Yes, Hughes was probably going after a Dolphin to get in his face, but clearly didn't intend to bump into the ref. Apparently, the Bills have to be careful about everything they say and do for the rest of the year...while the Pats and Fins can say whatever the H they want.
  2. For the record, Jauron did this, too. He brought in Edwards when Losman was "injured", which happened to be right after JP had a horrific first half against San Fran. I wouldn't doubt that wasn't the only time, either. A lot of coaches do this, but it's usually the ones whose team is struggling and they're reaching.
  3. Miami's pass rush just got better in the second half and the Bills didn't have an answer.
  4. This. Pretty much every prime time game I can think of looked good at the beginning of the season, with the possible exception of Falcons-Bucs in Week 3. You can't expect these games to be blowouts, only competitive...that's why they're on prime time.
  5. I liked the Schwartz hire from the beginning, even though I didn't like the loss of Pettine. This makes it even more likable.
  6. For the time-being, yes. But he's 31 years old...he may or may not have 2-3 years left in him. We don't know. I think for now, the best thing that can happen is that he keeps playing solidly and EJ keeps learning. If Kyle gets hurt, then (hopefully) EJ is ready.
  7. I couldn't agree more with this. Great perspective. Yes, we won big, but remember it was a BAD team the Bills played. The Jets' QB play was horrific and their secondary was awful. There is still more work to do. Hackett better take the full two weeks and game plan appropriately because Kansas City is a good team.
  8. KC is an enigma to me. They lose to an iffy Tennessee team, beat a Miami team that everyone loved at the time, whacked the Patsies, lost to struggling San Fran, and beat a solid San Diego team. I'm still not sold on them yet, but they won't be easy to beat.
  9. Those 5 games being the next 4 (KC, @Mia, NYJ, Cle) and @Oak. I'm wary of the Miami game - on the road, Thursday night...if the defense holds their own, they can win, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lose that one. The other three are tough. I can't see them beating Denver, unless Schwartz calls the game of his life. They *could* beat Green Bay, but only because that game is at home. And they just never seem to have enough luck to beat the Bradys. I say they lose the tough three and lose one of the winnable games - 9-7.
  10. Seriously...everyone knew the Jets' secondary was their weak link and he still kept running the ball with the 3rd & 4th RBs. I know they scored 43 points, but it could have easily been 60. Just throw the damn ball!!
  11. Fair enough. I figured it would be a bit of a gamble, but in this particular league, these guys snatch up players before they're even thought of.
  12. I'm in a pretty deep 12-team PPR league. We have 19 roster spots and start 2 QBs, 3 RBs, 4 WRs, and 1 each of TE, DEF, K. Do we think picking up Chris Hogan is worth it? My WRs: Alshon Jeffery Reggie Wayne Marques Colston Davante Adams Doug Baldwin Robert Woods I was going to drop either Woods or one of my RBs (Jonathan Stewart, Bobby Rainey, or Roy Helu - I already have McCoy, Zac Stacy, & Chris Ivory). Thoughts are welcome!
  13. I may even consider adding him to my fantasy team and dropping Woods.
  14. I can't speak for everyone, but my "hatred" for Spiller is only because he's not a better runner. He misses the holes, then tries to juke and dance a little too much. His decision-making could be better, too. Why I "hate" him is because if he was able to improve all of that, he'd be a top-tier NFL running back with the talent he already has.
  15. I'll be there! My annual pilgrimage to the Ralph hasn't been kind to me recently: 2008: W vs San Diego 2009: L vs New Orleans 2010: L vs NY Jets 2011: L vs NY Jets 2012: didn't attend 2013: L vs Kansas City I'm hoping my fortunes will change come Sunday.
  16. I'm rooting for debilitating injuries.
  17. As much as I'm confident that the Bills *can* beat them, I don't think we should all get overconfident in that the Bills will roll. Brady is still Brady and will find a way to move the ball. Gronkowski is healthy, their second TE (Wright) showed some flashes last Sunday, and who knows what WR will show up (it could be one of many). I want the Bills to steamroll them, but I don't see that happening. I see a close game. Pressure Brady to no end and run Freddy, throw to Freddy, and sprinkle in some Sammy and the Bills can pull out the W.
  18. I think you can fault both Spiller and the play-calling. If they wanted to establish a power running game, CJ isn't the guy to use up the middle. At the same time, CJ dances too much looking for a huge hole and gets wrapped up too easily for little or no gain. Hackett needs to call better plays - swing passes, screens, etc. so that Spiller can have some room. He can cause damage in the open field, but the play-calling hasn't been getting him there.
  19. Big-time angry. Brady looked like he was out for revenge on someone.
  20. I'll say it's an interesting article, but you need to compare apples to apples. So, compare EJ to the other guys that started on Day 1 - Peyton Manning, Wilson, Ryan, Newton, & Flacco (Brees, Rodgers, Cutler, & Foles *might* have been great since Day 1, but we'll never know). EJ's numbers aren't exactly reflective of whether or not he's a bust. I'd agree with the author that you can't label him as a bust yet. But you'd have to watch the games and analyze the film to see why he's being benched. His decision-making hasn't been good. His accuracy is way off. His footwork still needs some work. Stuff like that isn't shown or reflected by numbers. Maybe Peyton or Flacco were also not that good at the beginning...I just don't remember. But they were given the chance to work through their problems while their teams weren't in playoff contention. The thing with EJ now is that the Bills have pressure to win. With EJ still not looking like a 100% NFL-caliber QB and Marrone feeling the heat, I don't blame him for the move.
  21. The hard count would've helped them last week against the anxious pass rush. Either way, it's a good thing to have.
  22. Agreed...100%. The moves that Whaley made were solid. I wasn't exactly thrilled with giving up the first rounder, but this is the splash that he wanted to make. The problem isn't the OL (even though they were badly outplayed yesterday) or the defense. EJ and the play-calling are killing us right now. You couldn't find a better example of how important a QB is than watching yesterday's game. The defense gave up 13 points - that should easily have won the game with average QB play. I'm still willing to give EJ a chance, but Marrone would be wise to sit him for the next game or two. Just having Orton watch from the sidelines and give EJ advice won't help enough. Bench EJ for a game and give him a wake-up call.
  23. I'm in....thanks, Scott!
  24. I must have missed the email, too. Is it on Yahoo again? Link? Thanks!!
  25. Sorry if this was already posted (yes, I searched and couldn't find anything), has anyone started the TBD Yahoo pick 'em league yet this year?
