  1. I know the DA press release said it was his car.....but I could have sworn that the Culver City cops believed the car belonged to someone else. You also have to wonder if this car was on a temp (paper) plate (which usually hang in a window). Because, otherwise you would have expected to see charges related to an unregisterd car.
  2. Well, I would argue that because he was originally pinched on a felony that this was a different kettle of fish. I would also argue that there are "Hundreds and and hundreds of folks with long arrest and conviction records walking freely every day" is somewhat ambigous. Do these people have misdemeanor arrests? For example, you are always going to have part of the population (I call them sh-- birds) with 7 or 8 drunk and disorderly type arrests. This is a nuisance, but in the end they are really hurting themselves as much as anyone else. People may not want to face it, but the system is designed to churn through those smaller items and try to make room to aggressively prosecute felons.
  3. It's suprising how badly written some of them are.
  4. Sorry, but this is a simpleton's perspective. It's black and white. I am married to an attorney, an asst DA in fact. She's been doing this about 12 years (7 in prosecution), and works in the Superior courts here (rape, murder, agg assault, major drug cases, etc). There is no black and white in the criminal courts....it's not like Dateline or 20/20. It's what can be proved. Obviously, since the DA agreed to a deal relatively quickly they may have seen some weakness in case (could be any number of things).
  5. Again, likely back to probably cause. His attorney would have had to been insane to at least not make the arguement in LA County that this was a DWB related stop. Or, in this case, a Parking While Black offense.
  6. For the purposes of meeting with the NFL, the important thing is what he plead to....not what he was originally booked on. I have to say, I was more than a little surprised at the time his lawyer wasn't working the probably cause issue more. Anyway, Goodell can probably take the other charges into account, but I don't think he can make the penalty more severe because of something that ended up dismissed.
  7. This begs the question again, are the Bills going to try and do better with Fred Jackson than a 1 year deal???
  8. a. He wasn't busted with pot. b. You, more than likely, do not work under an employment contract negotiated by Collective Bargaining. c. The gun charge was CONCEALED...not UNLICENSED. There is a huge difference.
  9. Licensed gun by the way.....but he doesn't have a carry permit. There is a huge difference. The fact that it was in the trunk helped him out too. Stupid thing to do, but it's not like he was walking around waving the thing in the air.
  10. They'll get 1800 yards out of any (combo) running the ball. Their defense sucks.
  11. If he was in Buffalo, which I highly doubt, I think there is a better chance it's about Ken Lucas than Cutler or Scheffler.
  12. I assume you mean the shaven monkeys on WEEI. Fred Smerlas and Steve DeOssie? Lazy morons.
  13. I don't know how well he would play at OLB, but they certainly aren't making things easy on the Bills.
  14. Suggestion...watch on TV
  15. This is a ridiculous thread........ a hypothetical on top of a hypothetical.....riddled with rank speculation. Well done.
  16. Butler could probably play any position but Center. I would try to keep him away from LT.
  17. Yes, and I saw that game......Bodden was not good but it was possibly the worst I have ever seen an defensive line play...except the Bengals D was even worse (Jamal Lewis had over 200 yards). Final score 45-51. I just checked the box score....83 combined pass attempts.....1 sack.
  18. As pointed out somewhere, pro football talk maybe?, the extra 2 mill in escaleted salary will get them closer to the salary floor.
  19. Ehhh, straight line timed speed doesn't mean that much to me. Freeney was lightning fast, but so were 100 guys who have been busts. Brown has been a terrificly productive player at the college level, and has enough size to succeed as a DE/OLB hybrid player. In his rookie year, he could be a solid rotational pass rusher and has the physical tools to become a really good all around player. Is he a huge Mario WIlliams type DE? No, but there are a long line of guys who transition from college DEs to OLB
  20. Horrible draft...the bottom of that 1st round was filled with busts.
  21. Same size as Dwight Freeney. Maybe a couple pounds heavier.
  22. Lee Evans had 4 catches for 36 yards against the Browns in 2007.
