  1. Just saw the interview on GMFB - was a good one (this post comes to you from a proud Lancaster HS alum - Go Redskins! er.. legends?)
  2. All you have to do is watch the last episode of Hard Knocks to see this guy is not the whole package - looked totally out of his element and unbelievably awkward trying to be a leader and 'rally' his troops. Could feel the eyerolls and cringes in the locker room through the screen. Media can continue their lovefest with his 'quirky' nerdiness and ridiculous word salads - it's all fun when things are going good, but when things get rough his whole schticky act exposes him as not a great leader of men. To me this guy is so overrated as a HC
  3. Yeah that was pretty harsh and generally unfunny IMO. Haven't read that in a while since it was all done by the one person and the website went under or something - seems like this time they recruited different people and this person from Buffalo didn't do a great job
  4. Thank god for the board they didn't release Hardy 😛 There were people really in on Cain too
  5. It's kinda like Hard Knocks where they choose a player to focus on and you get invested because that's the guy you see. Through TC some media guys start tweeting about a certain player - and others jump on board - and then that is the guy that is in the "sights" of a lot of fans, with those fans having little or nothing else to go on (esp since preseason games can be hard/useless to asses with garbage QBs, scrub players etc). At a camp practice there are tons of 1-1 reps, and no way to keep track at them all for all positions, but a media guy (or blogger) may tweet "Shavers with some good reps today" - even though for sure he had some bad ones too - and other guys had good reps too - maybe actually more. Then more eyes are on him and a few more guys tweet Shavers with an up arrow, "Shavers with great contested catch!" etc. - and by the end of camp and after cuts fans are saying "I can't believe they cut Shavers - from all reports it sounded like he was having a great camp!"
  6. It also shows the bottom of the roster isn't filled with game-changers like some people like to think some bottom-roster guys are - if you're keeping a fringe player might as well keep one that you already know (have scouted and presumably brought in for a reason) since there's not going to be a huge difference between your fringe guys and the fringe guys on other teams (that you don't know that well)
  7. Definitely have to weigh the pros and cons before deciding to join the Practice Dead squad 😛 Happy to have Hamler back in the fold though
  8. TBD rn waiting for Hardy PS news
  9. One practice I went to, after he came out of the tunnel he started to "jog" to his position group and was barely able to move - dude's knee looked totally jacked up just trying to do that
  10. It's funny a guy like Shavers it seems one media guy starts tweeting about him and then a bunch of others follow suit and a narrrative spreads. The truth is watching practices every player has good and bad reps - and sometimes media guys seem to just concentrate on the good (or bad) for a particular player which fits the narrative (see McGovern 'bad snaps' narrative early in camp). I went to two practices right after pads went on and Hamler jumped right out to me among all the WRs - was winning all his battles and catching everything. And there were tweets from the media those days talking about Shavers (who I barely noticed doing anything) and not one mention of Hamler
  11. What is Beane doing!!! He should have signed him so KC couldn't get him!!! OMG!!! I'm so done with this team! 😛
  12. And a meat head for a HC. F them
  13. On a semi-related note - in Raleigh they are about to embark on a long term renovation plan for the arena and surrounding area - phase 1 of the $300 million arena update includes things they are calling "bunker suites" - which appear to be basically conference rooms in the bowels of the arena with no view of the event - the renderings have people sitting around drinking and watching a large screen TV of the event. Talk about trying to maximize revenue for every sq ft - guess if they can get people to pony up - good luck to them.
  14. Yeah it's a small thing, but if you are responsible for creating these things, don't put live game images on the TV and then show people with their back turned to the actual game and their face buried in their phone - put something on the TV that implies it is pre-game or halftime
  15. It's too bad our bye week isn't week 1
  16. He had a great game shooting gaps and making tackles for sure, but he'll need to be able to cover as well. It's one thing keying on the run with pitt trash QBs and vanilla O - needing to cover talented TEs and RBs with legitimate QBs and schemes and real bullets flying is another thing. I'm not saying he can't do it, just that it's a facet we haven't seen yet.
  17. Love how the two dork pitt fans reach out for it - oh for me? 😛
  18. A Boy Named Sue
  19. That Davis drop at Jets was also with a jacked up elbow. Unbelievable throw Edit just searched for it and saw this - at the time, with an injured throwing elbow, it was the farthest pass thrown in the NFL in the previous six seasons
  20. I thought about Siran Neal watching the preseason game - someone from the Bills actually downed the ball inside the 10 and my first thought was how refreshing not to see Neal or Jones fumbling around and failing to track and down a kick without it bouncing off them or into the EZ
  21. The stupid internet "doctors" diagnosing injuries from video clips are absolutely ridiculous - just stupid speculation - all of them
  22. Can't possibly articulate how much I hate these stupid internet "doctors" making diagnosis from video clips
  23. Why would Hill actually need to race him - first just line up on a track and run 100 and see if you can get under 10
  24. Yes - imagine an additional 6'7" option if they decided to ever go 3 TEs
  25. Going for first time next weekend - staying at the north end of the loop by the river across from the end of the MM - plan to do a lot of walking. Also got tickets to a Cubs game. Looking forward to it
