Sad. Remember when he first came, there was at least some optimism to have a 'steady' competent presence at HC. Remember Chicago fans remarking how eventually he would drive us crazy when his 'calmness' became infuriating and of course that came true. I even remember some chigago DJ had put out this slow sleepy song that just repeated 'Dick Jauron Jauron Jauron Jauron..." - that could equally be used to celebrate his steadiness (in good times) and mock his calmness (in bad times) RIP

Just saw an interview with Carucci - he gave props to Bills PR dept for the quality of the 'fact sheet' that teams send out to the voters - esp how it might have educated voters not as familiar with Josh's accomplishments. Also interestingly said he gave them feedback on things they could add or call attention to

It's funny on the shows how some talking heads are still ignorant how the voting process works - have heard multiple say "I would have been OK with co-mvps" when that is virtually impossible with the way the vote is done now with the ranking 1-5. Also Stephen A talking about 300-something votes like there were 300 voters. After all the weeks of 'debate' how can they still not know how the voting works? Get Up convo was mostly how could you vote one person for MVP and another for 1st Team All Pro - but funny it is never slanted as outrage that Josh wasn't 1st Team all Pro. Also - Orlovsky tried to explain the two awards can mean different things and pro-Lamar heads tried to counter with stats - to which he countered if it was just stats only you wouldn't need voters

I posted this in the AllenMVP thread -
Nice email from Oshei this AM with the video and heartfelt writeup. They are also doing a "17K for 17" donation drive - one of the "Fund All Stars" is matching $17 donations up to 17K donated https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/donor-form/?svcid=tcs&formId=47d6e891-fcf4-4634-9e4b-38445c2fb14e&envid=p-UNxX4o08j0eAmA9J_E6mew&zone=usa

Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season
stevewin replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
If eye in the sky is done properly it doesn't disrupt the flow at all - see an obvious wrong call immediately and call down to the ref to correct it and play is hardly interrupted at all. The stupid thing that does disrupt the play is ridiculous limited challenges where refs stand there for minutes looking at a tablet - when the eye in the sky and millions of people on their couch see with super slo-mo and multiple angles immediately see obviously wrong calls. I think it is dumb to limit eye in the sky to specific plays - the rule should be any play that millions of people on their coach can see is obviously wrong should be corrected. The key being obvious - people who argue well some calls are subjective - well they almost all are - if it isn't immediately obvious then the eye in the sky doesn't intervene - even then the game is 1000% better when the obvious calls are corrected in real time by the eye in the sky with no disruption It's also dumb to me to assume that somehow a ref on the field always has a "better view" of a play than multiple slo-mo angles in high-def. It has been shown over and over the game moves too fast for refs on the field to see every play properly The key to me is getting the eye in the sky immediate replay looks - not sure how that works today, I assume they have access to replays beyond the the crappy TV production that exists nowadays where replays aren't even shown for majority of plays to viewers -

stevewin replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's been brought up in multiple threads (and above). The ball currently has a chip that is used for various statistical gathering - but it is only accurate to 6 inches so it is not used for spot location. Hopefully the NFL invests in improving the technology so it can be accurate enough to be used to spot the ball -

They say they can't use the optical systems as they exist bc bodies etc can interfere. They definitely should be able to improve the accuracy of the chip so that it can be used - and it can be synced in time to video to determine things like location when knee down etc - it is just a matter of making it a focus and investing in it. Hopefully this will spur that -

The chips aren't currently used for spots bc they say they are only accurate to 6 inches. I've commented in multiple threads the NFL needs to invest some of their billions of dollars in annual revenue in perfecting the technology so that it is more accurate and can be used. They are bringing this on themselves when they don't make full use of eye in the sky to immediately reverse all plays that are obviously wrong, and technology to spot the ball properly -

Same as when people say "Oh Brady/Patriots got all the calls" - as if it is just some offhand thing that everyone just accepts - except it absolutely had a huge effect on their ability to win playoff games and SBs and their 'dynasty' - same with the Chiefs -
Joe Brady and Aaron Kromer had a rough night
stevewin replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's about a million threads where people mention it was dumb to do the 'push tush' so many times. I have no problem with the call - it was the execution. Half of them weren't even true 'tush pushes' - with Josh going low and a big person (or persons) pushing from behind. Some had no push at all. The only thing I would have said was be prepared to pick another gap - make the call at the line which gap you are going into. Didn't seem like they were prepared to do that. Esp w/ that I think a true tush push (Josh picking the gap pre-snap and going low with a big man pushing) would have worked 100% -
Calls for an investigation on Bills for Christian Benford's concussion
stevewin replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is dumb. If you have a concussion you are more likely to get another one, even a long period of time later (ask Eric Lindros). There are rules in place for the protocol and he passed them - then took a direct hit to the helmet that probably would have concussed him if he never had one in his life. The protocol would have to include "never play again" to 100% guarantee you wouldn't get another one -
Maybe he'll bring Nate Hackett along as his OL quality control coach

Crosby made the rounds on NFLN shows a couple weeks ago and without coming out and saying it, he really didn't seem to hide the fact he loves Josh Allen and would love to play for the Bills
