I think the short 3rd down throw was what they asked him to do - they were fine trying the long field goal

Would love for them to shut Mayfield down in the 2nd half

My exact thoughts - as others have stated too. The contrast between the obvious level of respect McD has from players and coaches vs Hue is crazy. He just commands their attention. Crazy to see McD talk and act exactly the same behind closed doors as what we see n front of them. Feel so good about the leadership this team has right now

During the whole CARL rant I kept waiting for someone to jump in "TODD? TODD? Who names a kid TODD?!?!?" How is Todd any better than Carl? -
Couldn't agree more. However it goes down it's going to be devastating to watch.

Jacksonville has set a league record for going from irrelevant afterthoughts to unlikable d-bags -
I stopped playing golf over 25 yrs ago (and even then wasn't a serious golfer), and my son has taken it up over this summer (using my 30+ yr old clubs). I wanted to get a decent set for him - something that I would share as I try to get back into it. I've been out of the game for so long I have no idea about today's golf equipment. Searching around the Callaway Men's Strata Ultimate Complete Golf Set (18-Piece) seems to come up quite a bit and seems well-reviewed. https://www.amazon.com/Callaway-Strata-Ultimate-Complete-18-Piece/dp/B00IKP9WV0?SubscriptionId=AKIAJXDBK7OO7UYCSNPA&tag=best_golf_clubs_beginners-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00IKP9WV0 Wondering if anyone had any comments/suggestions. Note - it really won't help to go and try hitting with different clubs - just looking to get a good/decent set as my son learns and I get back into it. Looks like today's starter sets have no low irons, replaced with hybrids. It's been so long since I've played, I've never even hit a hybrid - going to be weird for me to not have my go-to 5-iron, but I guess I can always add one separately (or just get used to the hybrids)

In an interview earlier in camp Beane discussed how they like the idea of getting away from home - players don't have to worry about daily family obligations and can be focused on football exclusively, and being away together forces bonding. In McD's PC this morning - on the subject of camp at SJF , on getting away from Orchard Park in a camp type atmosphere he said "I believe when you're trying to build a team and ask a group of guys to come together, that getting away is important"

I thought the Njoku ball machine scene was the most bizarre yet. A bunch of dumpy front office people and coaches lounging about - just staring indifferently at a guy catching balls from a jugs machine (30 times!) Then they tried to add gravity to the scene by adding music and slow motion and ... the countdown. I think you described it perfectly - a lot of times it's been like a Hard Knocks parody. Also - relative to other comments about Hue - I don't even find him likeable - just a kind of an ineffectual dolt -

Here are some comments he had addressing his perceived drop-off from junior to senior year https://buffalonews.com/2018/04/28/bills-select-virginia-tech-g-wyatt-teller-in-fifth-round/ Another interesting article on how he worked to manage ADHD relative to his football career https://www.roanoke.com/hokies/former-tech-lineman-teller-talks-about-struggles-with-adhd/article_9d2fd0f6-b345-59de-9756-bd9055d47bf6.html -
One interesting thing I heard Beane mention recently in an interview was some of the benefits of having camp away from home - players immersed and not distracted by family obligations etc, forced bonding in close quarters etc.

I went for a few days a couple weeks ago - first time I had gone in probably 10 years - and also noticed less easy access to be closer to the field (I remember being able to wander around the fence close to the field and being able to pick and choose and get close to various drills/players over the course of practice). At the end of one of the practices we ended up talking to a guy who has worked the camp for years - he mentioned that McD is much more focused on actual effective practice for the players than "fan experience". He mentioned the clusterF last year where players were off on the other fan-inaccesible field to give the main field a break where fans who showed up couldn't even see the players and people who worked there were like "really coach?" but he stuck to his guns (the reason for the closed to the public practices this year). He implied that the new regime is pretty demanding and very specific on their requirements during the camp. Not sure why fan accessibility and effective practice need to be exclusive - but imagine some of it is to try to minimize distractions - and I'm sure there is probably an amped up security aspect in this day and age. BTW - one of the days I actually had VIP tickets - and the actual view of practice (other perks notwithstanding) from those areas wasn't necessarily better than just being in the stands. Being on the field but restricted to small area makes it hard to see all that is going on (overall view of practice was much better from the stands)
