A Letter to Bills Mafia - Dion Dawkins
stevewin replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what she said -
He will be an epic fail if he goes outside his 20 yr system of cheating, 7 yrd slants, and phantom PI calls. My greatest joy will be seeing him go to another team next year and completely sucking - getting pummeled on a regular basis as he pouts and throws hissy fits (so "competitive"!) while announcers originally wail that poor Tommy just Doesn't Have Any Weapons ? - then slowly come to the realization he just isn't that good - as they remove his privates from their orifices and start to speak the truth that all along he was a product of the system - system of cheating. GOAT my a$$

I was down so I went to patsfan.com to get cheered up. What really did it for me was a post someone made asking what they should do - their 9 year old was so devestated by the loss they cried themselves to sleep. The thought of this sad little sniveling chowderhead cheater fan brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart.

? This is a ridiculous thing to say The analogy starts from the time the ball is in the player's hands - and the analogy matches exactly. If a QB in victory formation (or any other time) has the ball and wants to give himself up he must take a knee. If a kick returner has the ball in his hand and wants to give himself up he must take a knee. Both by rule. Exact same application of rule as written.
-
That's the whole point - "giving himself up" is defined in the rules as "falling to the ground, or kneeling, and clearly making no immediate effort to advance" Ie. - falling to the ground or kneeling is required by rule to "give yourself up". Throwing ball to the ref, or yelling "I'm giving myself up" - or waving a sign that says same does not satisfy the rule
-
The ref didn't tell him to stay, the ref signaled "Don't give me that MF'ing ball, MF'er - it's still live!"
-
Yeah - key is "falling to the ground, or kneeling, and clearly making no immediate effort to advance" - which clearly didn't happen. Nothing that can be done now - but yeah it sucks. Se discussion at 4:30 mark of video linked in this thread

This was actually an excellent discussion. Didn't realize rule was written "AND". I was fine with the call at the time, but this doesn't make me feel better. Hasselbeck has perfect analogy with victory formation - you can't just hand the ball over when the rule says you must be down. They try to play devil's advocate and say Bills still lost the game, but there is zero percent chance they lose if that is called a TD. The shame really is the ref got it right to begin, then caved to everyone saying "Oh my God everyone knows what he meant to do" As they mention - it's real dicey territory when officials don't follow the rule as written and decide to alter calls based on what they consider intent. In this case it may have been obvious, but what about other situations that may not be so clear cut. That's why the rules are there.

Not sure how many you've seen, but that was honestly one of his least dick-like after-loss pressers I've seen. Usually he just stands there and glares and grunts like a mentally challenged adult with the mental capacity of a 6 year old throwing a tantrum after someone took his lollipop away. It absolutely blows my mind people put this cheating socially ######ed a-hole on such a pedestal. -
Playoff #1 Bills @ Texans PostGame Thread
stevewin replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Woke this AM, read this, and just the mental picture of those 3 blockers out in front hitting no one - it literally makes my somach turn. To think after all the mis-steps up to that point, just one person throw a block or at least get in the way, and a minute later i'm celebrating a win with my son (instead of storming out in a profanity-laced tirade minutes later after Missed Sack). Sigh -
It's actually crazy that even with the 2nd half collapse and being down we somehow stopped them on 4th and were able to send it into OT The OT was simply unbelievable - so many individual plays that if just one had gone the other way.....just one
