  1. Lotta high level meetings
  2. I think Mckenzie is one thing Daboll is going to unwrap this game. I'm looking for about 5 variations of the McKittrick jet sweep
  3. That also stuck out to me - kind of going along with some of the discussion in this thread about how competitive the pros are and will use anything as fuel. Not a person in Buffalo that saw Fromm as anything but a potential threat to Barkley (if that) Love the quote at the end
  4. So here’s my concussion story. When I was a junior in HS (1980 lol), I suffered a double concussion at basketball practice. I was running full out about to dive for a loose ball when my face smashed into the forehead of someone coming from the other direction (brain smashes into front of skull – concussion #1). They said I was out cold on my feet – incredibly still upright for just a second before I slowly fell backwards like a falling tower and my head smashed on the floor (brain smashes into back of skull – concussion #2). Everyone just stood there totally frozen. After some moments – one of my friends heard a faint choking noise. There was no blood, but my nose was shattered. He got closer and figured out I was choking on something – he turned me on my side and a huge flow of blood just started gushing from my face. The people there said they had never seen so much blood – like a bad movie. Not sure if that is recommended practice, but his quick action might have saved the situation from being much worse. I started to come to in the gym – I was out for minutes. Initially it was a complete fog, wasn’t even sure where I was at the beginning. The one funny thing is as I laid there the single thing that popped in my head was my Mom always said if you get in a medical emergency tell them the name of our family doctor – so I just started repeating “Hassenfratz. Hassenfratz.” over and over. They had no freaking clue wth I was saying or talking about (real concerns of brain damage at that point 😝) In the ambulance I started to regain more consciousness. It was funny because eventually I felt awake, but could not remember simple things. One of the paramedics was actually a very popular senior at my school – and in the ambulance I couldn’t for the life of me think of his name (which I think annoyed him), but I DID remember the name of his gorgeous girlfriend. For some reason I started with “Oh yeah – so-and-so is your girlfriend” and he’s just looking at me – and it started to get weird when I kept talking about her “Yeah, she’s in my typing class” (1980, people) and after a few more comments and seeing the look on his face, even in my altered state I had the presence of mind to STFU. These of course were the days before cell phones – it was Saturday morning and my Mom was out Christmas shopping and my Dad was deer hunting. I got to the hospital and had to wait on a stretcher in a hallway of the emergency room for hours, having to make uncomfortable small talk with my Coach (which might have been the worst part of the whole experience). Not sure how many times I said “You can leave now – I’ll be OK”. Eventually my brother came home from being out somewhere and heard the message on the machine. My Mom had left a note she was shopping at Eastern Hills Mall, so he called them and they paged her (can’t believe we actually used to live without cell phones). I eventually had surgery to reconstruct my nose, pretty sure I also either broke or dislocated my jaw. When I first got in my room I realized my jaw was killing me and I couldn’t open my mouth all the way so I forced it open and CRACK something popped. Never told anyone. Hurt like hell for a while after - more than my nose. Jaw hasn’t been the same since. Some other highlights from the hospital - The first night a Doctor rushed into my room in a tuxedo (coming from a Christmas party), shined a light in my eyes, turned to my Mom and promptly said “One of his pupils is bigger than the other – he could have bleeding in his brain” I’ll never forget the look on my Mother’s face as it turned ghostly white – at that point I was more afraid for her health than mine. Subsequently, after a bunch of tests they concluded one of my pupils is just normally bigger than the other - On the following Monday evening I was returning to my room having left for some test or X-ray. The MNF game was on TV. The guy in the other bed turns to me and says “They killed John Lennon, man!”. Will never forget the sound of sadness/pain in his voice. Anyway – this was a very different time. Never went through any concussion protocol or really any follow-up at all. They gave me some painkillers for headache – I was back at school by the end of the week, and started practicing again right after that (they gave me a mask to wear to protect my nose, but that lasted about 10 minutes). One thing I am pretty sure of – it wasn’t a pinched nerve.
  5. His teammates know how he gutted through it though and no doubt that endeared him to them even more
  6. When I first read this I thought it was the number 280 and my first thought was "That seems low"
  7. If he goes away then a Nick Wright appears - they are like cockroaches
  8. I remember that Allen and Teller were close when he was with the Bills
  9. He's even worse with Brady - although that's the case with everyone I guess. Come to think of it I haven't watched a game that included Brady without eventually muting after the first few minutes in years
  10. I just don't want to see the same defensive game plan of the first meeting to let them run all over us and totally control the ball/game. Even if the Bills 'kept it close', KC really controlled the game and it was frankly demoralizing to be gouged like that. Would rather give up a big play on a 3 min drive and get our offense back on the field then let them have long time consuming drives battering us backwards. I expect the defensive gameplan will be a little more sophisticated this time - and also I hope they plan to try to make Mahomes uncomfortable and move him from the pocket - with his toe and coming back from his "upper body injury", I can't imagine he will be as comfortable scrambling around. I also think that Daboll has been saving some plays all season just for this game.
  11. Jerry also said this - "“We took it as a challenge,” said Hughes, who had two of those sacks. “A lot of us, just because we had this late-night game, we sat around, we watched TV, we enjoy football. It’s our job. It’s our passion. So, you know, when we see the guys on TV talking about how they don’t play defense in Buffalo, we’re going to give up 30 points. That’s a challenge that we all see. We take it as a challenge and we accept it, so I think we went out there and we played like we had something to prove, and that’s how you’re supposed to play football at your house, especially in the playoffs.” I get that they are professionals and don't *need* the hot takes of silly TV personalities to be motivated - but they are also human beings and not robots, and are more than willing to use any perceived slight as fuel
  12. And they were a miracle scramble by a scrub QB away from possibly not even playing this weekend Concussion-like symptoms only occur if someone squeezes the toe artery just right
  13. So many national 'experts' are so wrong - if they aren't just going with the lazy popular narrative, they seem to just make stuff up. I heard some national guy (can't remember who) say the Chiefs offense is so good, they decided to just run the ball down the Bills throat the first game instead of pass - like it was their game plan going into the game. Never mind that it was the Bills defensive scheme for the game inviting them to run that dictated it. A good adjustment to be sure, but there's no way they went into the game planning to do that.
  14. Holy Crap - just need to read the comments to see that guy is a Class A clown. Not worth anyone's time
  15. The Bills just gave him a gift of more of the attention he seeks
  16. And attempts to manufacture "excitement" over the upcoming QB "battle" in TC between the ageless 3rd tier veteran FA, young average QB with "potential", and the middling career backup drafted in the 3rd round 7 yrs earlier who hasn't had the success (yet) that was expected of him
  17. Breeland probably just got the wind knocked out of him /sarcasm
  18. And 3) He was examined by medical staff who determined he suffered a concussion. Reid was obviously trying to downplay it hoping things will work out this week but "got the wind kncoked out of him" was a really stupid choice of words
  19. Yeah - media talks a lot about the "mentor" storyline, I know they get along well and McD respects him - but the guy still did can him
  20. I seriously don't think I could take that - seriously. Would much rather have him GTFO of the playoffs ASAP than even have the possibility of him being in the SB (and the mere thought of him possibly beating the Bills there - can't take it)
