  1. This whole thing smacks of the whole authenticity in music canard. True, there are ground-breakers who rupture a bloated or stale era, but ultimately, save for the few laboring earnestly in their art as they strive for innovation, most eventually want to make a nice living. Two images I remember strikingly along these lines: 1. In the early 90s, Henry Rollins splashing in his hot tub mockingly singing 'Anarchy in the UK' on MTV in response to questions regarding his wealth accumulation versus the punk 'ethos'. 2. John Cage in a spoken word passage about an ad agency calling him for a commission: They said, 'Mr.Cage?' I said, "Yes". 'Are you ready to prostitute yourself for your art?' I said, 'Yes'.
  2. I'll add most Judd Apatow (and his progeny) formula movies suck as well. Far too few funny bits encased in a lot of more of the same, over and over again. That Michael Sera guy plays the same role in every film and hipsters just yuck it up. Repetitiously horrible.
  3. Dirk Dirksen is rolling in his grave.
  4. Perfectly aligned with what Michael Lombardi wrote several weeks ago. Seems in line with Parcells' philosophy with the G'ints: "This is an industrial town. The people here want to know you gave them a 100% tough battle on the field. There are no fancy players on this team, only tough, proud men. The team is an indication of the type of people in the town. They're warm and friendly, but they know you have to be tough as a way of life. We don't have any glamour boys like Los Angeles or San Diego."
  5. Shot of Fernet, no chase.
  6. Return to either the late 70's/early 80's unis or the SB era unis. Bust out the 60's throwbacks a couple times a year.
  7. A 1949 AAFC Bills/49ers program.
  8. Never fired a machine gun, but have loads of fun with my 12ga and WWII Mauser .22. Place outside Vegas used to offer free machine gun shoot offs. Always wanted to partake but never had the the time to get there. I've always wanted to fire a tommy gun with drum and a mp-40
  9. Billy Volek took the Todd Collins' NFL Longevity mail order course - "Achieve perma-backup status, stay healthy, and still collect a man - sized check".
  10. Alles klar, Herr Kommissar.

  13. Try Mother Night by Vonnegut. I like JG Ballard: Highrise & the atrocity incident.
  14. The Charlie Brown Christmas Album - Vince Guaraldi Trio
  15. If Cato signs, do the Bills get the Green Lantern as well?
  16. Once more with feeling.
  17. How about just putting some big and talented players on the field.
  18. And to think, Bills fans use him as a standard for serviceable linemen. He was a tub and remains so.
  19. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../SPI21B6F97.DTL He's real agreeable to change.
  20. I can't speak to his college career, but JaBustus is the least athletic quarterback I've seen in a while. A huge lumbering target with a two cent head. A mortar is more accurate.
  21. Niners have three youngsters at receiver that need to get the ball: Crabtree, Davis and Morgan. Playing time and salary wise, where would TO fit? Plus, though Smith is playing better, the QB position isn't settled. TO is the answer?
  22. I think an extension with lots of guaranteed money is in order.
  23. You should have asked him about Huggy Bear.
  24. Huff has played well this year, and I would say has been more noticeable this year for his good play than Donte ever has.
