  1. If Knox catches that easy first down against the Steelers, Bernard likely doesn’t get hurt and we have him for the game against the Chiefs. I’m not singling out that one play as a referendum on Dawson, but he lets too many routine plays get away from him. He’s 2nd string for a reason.
  2. That guy was dropping passes all year, even had a reporter asking him “whats wrong?” In the playoffs he made some tough catches. The WR needy Chiefs moved on, I don’t think we should pursue him.
  3. Can’t remember where it was that I heard it, but Beane sounded like he was in favor of some sort of QB salary cap rules. He said something along the lines of “yeah, these QB contracts are getting a bit out there…” EDIT: I do remember it came while discussing the approach to deciding who to pay when you’ve got a QB making as much as Josh (and Allen might not even be in the top 10 anymore!). It’s a quandary, you can’t win without a top QB, but their contracts make building a team challenging.
  4. The reworked one is fine, the one he signed a couple years ago was not.
  5. They already get more than that. It was hovering around 24% a year ago, whereas in 2010 it was closer to 16%. Contracts go up, but that’s entirely based on position. RB for example hasn’t increased and takes up a lower percentage of the cap than in the past.
  6. Joe Marino said that Knox is the highest paid skill player on offense. That’s wild.
  7. I remember hearing, reading, seeing somewhere that there was internal angst in the organization that the team got the Aaron Maybin pick wrong after his rookie minicamp. I guess it can happen pretty quick.
  8. Probably inflated numbers. He’s noticeably smaller than his father. His father wasn’t a big back either so Jr’s size surprises me a bit. Frank Gore Sr vs Jr EDIT: CBS Sports has him listed as 5 foot 7 5/8” and 201 lbs.
  9. We’ve certainly had a haul this draft and the next and depending on the amount of hits, those signature Brandon Beane 1 year player contracts will greatly diminish. I don’t see a ton of needs where young players could contribute, but that’s assuming half the players we drafted this year amount to at least “good.” I like how the Bills are positioned going forward.
  10. The best players will play. If Edward’s and Holline prove to be more capable than those behind them, they’ll be in the game. Same with Tim Settle. If he proves he’s the Texans 3rd best rotational DT there won’t be any monitoring of snaps for comp pick consideration.
  11. The Bills make it sound like it’s up to Hyde and if he wants to come back at a modest amount. I think if all things are equal and he doesn’t retire, he’ll be back in Buffalo as one of the starting safeties.
  12. We all will definitely be assessing Coleman vs Worthy Legette Mitchell McConkey and even Franklin, since so many of us wanted him in the 3rd.
  13. Curious move. He doesn’t bleed “process.”
  14. The days of AJ Klein leaving the family RV to cover Travis Kelce in the playoffs is a thing of the past.
  15. I loved the trade down for the reason of adding draft capital. I’d almost always prefer a trade down than a trade up because I’d like more picks. More chances to draft a gem. Beane actually tried to trade up in the 2nd to get Bishop but said “thankfully no one was taking my calls.” He got antsy as usual and if a trade up did happen, you’re right, we don’t get Davis. We’re moving past giving players 1 year contracts and relying more on draft picks, which I also love, but to rely on picks, we’ve got to stock the cupboard. Beane seems to be getting smarter about draft capital, despite the failed Bishop trade up.
  16. Picking up the 5th year option was a no brainer. I can’t remember who I was arguing with, but someone here said they’d gladly pay Rousseau $20M/yr to extend him. I was adamant that at that price you let him walk, unless he proves to be more of a QB disruptor. If he doesn’t show any better than he has thus far, my maximum yearly would be $15M/yr, a shade under Oliver.
  17. 6’0” with a 6’8” wingspan and hands over 10”?? He’s one of those disproportionate genetic freaks like Rajon Rondo.
  18. Feels like a Luke Tenuta throwaway pick.
  19. I’m reading “Van Pran-Granger!” as “down goes Frazier!” Anyone else?
  20. Maybe some sort of juicing, no doubt. Just looked up the 4.38 video, he dusted whoever he was racing and supposedly ran the time as a 48 year old. It was hand timed. He also raced Tyreek Hill at 44 years old and Hill only beat him by a couple strides, so he’s definitely faster than the 4.63 he posted at the combine.
  21. Surprised Owens ran a 4.63 at the combine, because he claimed “I can still run a 4.4” when he was in his 40s trying to get back in the league. There’s also a video out there where he runs a 4.38. Not sure how he could get .25 faster than his combine time, that’s a MAJOR difference.
  22. For whatever reason, players always slip through the cracks every year. I wouldn’t even call it an “exception,” it’s more so the “norm.” Whatever those reasons, real contributors can be had in any round and even undrafted. I like Franklin, the league has its reasons for not selecting him thus far, but if he does go on to be a real contributor I wouldn’t be surprised just because he’s picked in the 4th or 5th or wherever. Amon Ra St Brown just signed one of the heftiest WR extensions in history and he was picked in the 4th. We should know by now there are no sure things even if players are called “can’t miss.”
  23. Not to pick on you personally, but someone makes this claim every single year. Go back and look at the wide receivers selected before Stefon Diggs. Or Davante Adams. Or Tyreek Hill. Or… you get my point. I remember badly wanting the freakishly athletic Arkansas TE Jason Peters and many on this board were clamoring for him too, but he went undrafted. These evaluators - even though they’re equipped with much more information than we have - get things wrong all the time.
  24. Yeah, you’d be hard pressed to find one 6’4” or under D1 college basketball player who could be described as “stiff.” Most high level basketball players can’t run like football/track players, but they’re definitely explosive, have great hand/eye coordination, and great body control. Sounds just like Keon.
  25. I’m down for picking the QB with a howitzer of an arm. Joe Milton I believe is his name. And thankfully no one traded with Beane in the 2nd. I thought the trade downs were outstanding, he just needs to let the draft come to him and stop getting so antsy/impatient.
