He played well without Diggs being involved the back half of the season. If folks wanna argue that Diggs was a decoy, drawing all the attention and freeing up Kincaid/Shakir/Cook, then why do opposing teams make it a point after games to say that Diggs was hardly being doubled? I heard that more than once.

He was always unhinged, even as a collegiate player. There’s reports of him farting in a doctor’s face - multiple times - and laughing about it. He was also kicked out of a college. Guy has always been a head case, it’s who he is, but the CTE stuff has really turned it up a level.

I remember Jonathan Ogden was famously tall at 6’9”. Don’t remember other tackles that height dominating. It’s easier for smaller players to get leverage against them - unless he’s powerful. If I were him I’d try to get in contact with Ogden if he doesn’t have a future as an NBA starter.

Well that’s exactly what happened. They played defense so as not to lose the game on a TD but completely disregarded giving up chunk plays for a FG attempt. That’s why I said it would’ve been better for them to be up 2, not 3, because the focus would change. Can’t give up any points, period. Those last two plays, make anyone besides Hill and Kelce beat you. Anyone. Where did the ball go? Hill. Then Kelce. And neither were challenged at the LoS. Just a gross mismanagement of the final 13 seconds.

2017 was the Mahomes trade down. They picked Tre White, not a WR. Sammy Watkins (2014) was the last first round receiver I believe.

Yeah, the year where Erick Flowers was a first round pick, think it was 2003, was arguably the worst year in franchise history. Off the top of my head, the only one I remember contributing was 5th round RB Sammy Morris. Correction: this was the 2000 draft. We famously picked Leif Larsen in the sixth and Tom Brady went just a few picks later.

AB and AB would be even more unpredictable. The second AB stands for Amanda Bynes, who’s not even recognizable anymore.

I still maintain it would’ve been better for the Bills to be up 2, not 3, with :13 seconds left because I think the entire defensive focus would’ve changed… “Can’t let them score a FG.” Bills played as if “can’t lose the game on a TD.”

Truthfully, Josh has enough weapons where struggling in the passing game shouldn’t be a thing: Stef Diggs, Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, & James Cook. The reason so many are high on WR is because the majority of us feel that Diggs is on borrowed time and we’d love to find his successor so we don’t miss a beat when he does depart. Objectively the defensive line and safeties are a much weaker group than Allen’s pass catchers. A safety won’t go in round 1, but DL should definitely be in play. I don’t envy Beane, he HAS to get these premium picks right. We can’t afford another Boogie Basham mishap.

Yep, the theme is the same for all those guys. Their speed is secondary to their knowledge and craft. I think it was Brady who called Moss “the smartest receiver I’ve ever been around.” I think Worthy will be successful in the league, he has nuance to his game. He’s not just a “run fast” guy. That said, I’m not advocating for him at 28, but if it happens I wouldn’t be pissed about it.

I think pure speed guys mostly struggle in the NFL because all they’ve relied on their entire career is speed. They don’t have savvy moves to get open, they’re not QB friendly with understanding of coverages, they don’t always have the best hands. Worthy has had legit production at a major collegiate conference, he’s not a one year wonder like John Ross. Given the league isn’t as physical as it once was, he should be okay. Devonta Smith is similar in size and has been highly productive.

They were already obsolete (somewhere around a 5% recovery rate) unless they were a surprise onside kick (45%), which rarely happened. I think the current onside kick needs to be revamped as well.

So instead of trading up for the best “can’t miss” WR prospect in ages, we should’ve stayed at pick 9, selected Aaron Donald, and then picked Devante Adams in the 2nd. I have a suspicion the 5th or 6th WR taken in this class will outperform two of the top 3, not only because he’ll have a better QB, but also because the talent gap isn’t as great as perceived. Stay at 28 or trade down and pick up a 3rd.

That’s probably the only time it ever happened. Either the team lets the clock run out or they do the fake snap count before the quarter expires. In the other instances, I feel like they’ve batted 100 in the times the game clock was running down and the offensive team couldn’t get a play off or spike the ball before it hit 00:00.

Seems like this is the 3rd or 4th thread covering this topic. There’s not even threads on other positions really, its all WR, WR, WR.

According to many, the new return setup supports a RB returner much more than an explosive WR who’s used to operating in space. It’s more of a stretch run play where they have to read and choose the correct hole than make a guy miss. A fully healthy Hines would flourish with something like that, but he probably has one more season before he’s all the way back. The 76% touchback percentage or whatever it was had to go. It was essentially a dead play, not exciting at all. Moving the ball back to the 30 and returning the ball with 5 man blocking wedges was never coming back, so I’m happy they found some other way to keep it in the game. We’ll see at the end of the season if it’s a relevant play and has any bearings on the games.

No, it was never from the 25. It was booted from the 30 in the old days, but moved up five yards to the 35 starting in 2011. If they kick it through the end zone now, the return team gets the ball at the 30, not the 25 like last year.

They’ve been stealing ideas all along. Much of today’s on field, close up, and overhead camera work is due to the XFL. I thought putting it at the 35 was great, but owners amended the rule to put it at the 30, only five more yards given.

Original kickoff had the ball at the 30. I agree, they should back it up the 5 yards which would make touchbacks as low percentage as they used to be.
