  1. I don’t agree. He’s not surrounded by Mac Jones, Bryce Young, CJ Stroud type of no name talent. And while it would be nice to surround him with more game breakers and a wall of an oline, he does have enough now to consistently move the ball and score points. Many of his strange INTs come without pressure in his face, which suggests that he’s not reading the defense correctly. If he was more of a student of the game he’d know where to go with the ball when the defense gives a certain look. You’d see less double clutching and plays that take over 3+ seconds to get rid of the ball. More importantly you’d see less turnovers which are an absolute killer. If he spent every waking moment studying film in the offseason, I’d say it’s a good bet that we’d see a sizable jump in his mental processing the very next season.
  2. As a young pup, Josh worked relentlessly to improve. Mostly from a physical and fundamental standpoint. In 2020, the pandemic year with empty stadiums, he came in on a tear, surprising us all. I remember being absolutely “wowed” by him in that SF game and thought at the time “this guy is gonna be scary good.” Even after the 13 second debacle, the team rebounded the next season and looked to be a force… then the MNF game against GB happened and nothing has been the same since halftime of that game. When Josh came into this offseason saying he had never been as focused on football as he is now, I thought it was an interesting comment and didn’t know what to make of it. Some here speculated that when a player makes a comment like that, the inverse is often true - the player is not all in, but is saying so as to convince himself and others. Josh has never been great at reading the field, knowing where to go with the ball immediately after the snap, and getting it out on time, but I haven’t seen him look this lost since his rookie year. Quote all the stats you want to tell me how much I’m wrong, but Josh looks like he’s going through some things on a personal level. This offseason he needs to shut it all down, all the extra-curriculares, and become a film watching junky. Really dive into the complexities of defenses to see how coordinators are defending you, what’s working, what’s not working, where his eyes should be based on a given look, etc. become a real student of the game. Aaron Rodgers said “if you want to have sustained success, you need to know defenses as well as your own offense.” I don’t care if Allen doesn’t want to lift or focus on his body, the improvement needs to be upstairs, between his ears, if he’s going to see his vivid dream of the Bills having a Super Bowl parade come to fruition.
  3. I was wondering at what point do we tune in more for entertainment versus hoping for a W? At what point do we start rooting for a high draft pick? They have a murderers row of games coming up and no chance at winning a championship this year. Is 5-5 too early to start rooting against Ws like I did during the drought?
  4. Frustrating to watch, he could’ve had 2-3 sacks if he rushed under control.
  5. It can’t have a title because the game wasn’t big enough… UNLESS McD is canned tomorrow which we know won’t happen. It’s just another inexcusable loss on the season.
  6. Yep, coaching has officially lost the players. You fumble and then get benched while others make mistakes without consequence? Selective doghouse.
  7. Should be the same 11 out there every time so I don’t get it… actually, Cam Lewis got hurt and was probably part of that unit, so somehow two players must have gone in for him.
  8. Hey, Dorsey… Your superstar QB is not playing like a superstar. Run the ball!
  9. Impossible. I believe it was @GoBills808 who said that no other QB in the league was playing as well as Allen.
  10. The draft is a total crapshoot. Even the most optimistic Ohio St fans wouldn’t have told you that Stroud would threaten the annals for the best rookie QB season ever. I’d be upset if I was a Panther fan. It’d feel like having your choice of Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith and your franchise opts for Smith. The NFC is due to hit on some good QBs. The wealth needs to spread to that conference.
  11. Everyone moves the ball at will against the Chargers. If we struggle against them…
  12. I’ve never “trashed” Allen, but if a post doesn’t always paint him as a Buffalo savior you have an issue with it. It’s fair to critique his play objectively. How about you give it a rest and let me have an opinion on a message board?
  13. I guess you’re just around for the negative things I say 😅 I’ve said plenty of positive things about Allen and will continue to do so when his play warrants praise.
  14. What he’s doing as a rookie QB is unprecedented. Last week I said I’d entertain the idea of trading Josh for Stroud and a 1st, but if Buffalo went to Houston and wanted to do a straight up trade, Houston would say “no thanks, we’re good.”
  15. Oh, so we were arguing the same point. Allen is not playing on a higher level than ALL other QBs in the league, but then you asked “who’s playing better?” as if to imply the statement was true. Shouldn’t have asked if you were in agreement. Also, again, I didn’t say Allen’s play was the core problem with the offense, I said it contributed to part of the problem. He is missing reads, he is missing potential TDs, he hasn’t always been patient in the pocket, those are all true. As to what would move the needle? I’d like to immediately look at “coaching,” but seeing open receiving options that are being passed up gives me pause. Maybe that is a fault with the coaches, they’re not teaching Allen properly, who knows. None of us are in those meetings. I think the obvious answer is your last bullet point. If resources over the last four years had gone to that side of the ball AND Beane had hit on the picks/signings, they’d be so good it wouldn’t matter if Allen missed reads or TDs. They’d get it on the next play. Or the one after that.
  16. Allen is an all star, Edmunds was never close to that status. Obviously. The back and forth about who’s responsible for the lack of production (or struggles) is what was giving me the Edmunds vibes. I criticized Edmunds when he was here and was given a myriad of excuses as to why he was coming up short, or not making plays. I criticize Allen’s play when it’s warranted as well, but others here want to blame everyone but him. Allen shares blame for why the offense is struggling, he’s the guy who touches the ball on every single play. It’s that simple. He’s not entirely to blame and those around him can do better. That’s also an obvious take. That’s the parallel between the two players, Edmunds and Allen, discussion wise. And if you think Allen has been playing on a higher level than Kermit over in KC, that’s a strong disagree. Allen may be ahead of him in stats, but to my eye there’s no other QB doing more with a worst supporting cast. Those WRs have failed him time and time again, they probably lead the league in drops. He has that special sort of magic that Allen has, but with even more consistency. I wish we could play out the entire season with Allen and then play out the season again with Mahomes. Same opponents. The only way to do that is in Madden, but for those who believe Allen is a superior QB or has been playing better than Pat, I firmly believe they’d be in for a huge awakening.
  17. They’ve both played 8 games and have 40 and 43 receptions respectively. Unfortunately for Kincaid he was injured and didn’t suit up for the NYG game, so Laporta has a chance to distance himself even more once the Lions play their 9th of the season.
  18. He is playing better than most of the QBs in the league, like we hope he should be. He’s not playing on a higher level than every QB in the league as another poster suggested. I’m starting to get Edmunds vibes again… There’s a contingent of fans stating what they see, wrt Allen, the offense, and the team’s struggles, and then there’s another group telling them what they’re seeing is wrong. That second group also never criticized the player, it was everyone else around him. “He’s doing his job and well,” as if that player doesn’t need to play better as well.
  19. I’d give Allen a solid B in regards to the whole season. Out of 9 games, he had 2 that were outstanding (MIA, LV), 1 that was “burn the film bad” (NYJ), and the rest ranged from “did enough to win” or “didn’t do enough.” The disjointed offense stems from a lack of a running game and a pass attack that’s too aggressive at times, opting for lower percentage completions over higher ones. You had a QB outwardly expressing to the media that maybe he needs to think less and just play football. Despite having a healthy offense, the Bills are 2-3 in their last 5 games, largely because the offense has sputtered until the 4th. I think I’m fair in my assessment of Allen’s play and that he wasn’t playing at a level above any other QB in the game - a point to which you agreed.
  20. I think it’s more about the directives the refs are getting from the league, than the refs themselves. The competition committee could step in at any point and change the nonsense we’ve been seeing on the field, especially with regards to roughing the passer, but Goodell is on record as saying the calls won’t be modified, even as questionable penalties continue. He said something like he’d rather err on the side of caution than bring more physicality back. It’s gross, but as consumers there’s nothing we can do… unless we stop watching.
  21. Josh leads the league in INTs. The offense over the past 5 weeks has averaged 10 pts through 3 quarters. Analysts are scrutinizing his game, calling for his OC to make changes. Message board video reviews have never been so popular. Josh Allen, right now, is not playing QB at a level above everyone else. That sounded silly just typing it.
  22. Josh Allen is easily playing the QB position better than anyone else in the league right now? Guys, we have to do better than to make statements like this that obviously aren’t true. We all love Allen, but he’s making it tough on himself and the offense in many instances.
  23. Can’t trade Josh due to the ramifications of the move, both in the locker room and with fan morale. There’s only one player I’d trade him for, Mahomes. Actually, I take that back… I might entertain a trade for a young QB on a rookie contract, that looks to be on the rise (Stroud, Lawrence, etc) coupled with multiple first round draft picks, but those teams wouldn’t entertain it, so it’s a moot point.
  24. If only play 5 had gone to Diggs on the crosser 😭 Allen has a pocket too, if he just sits in there, stays patient, and hits the open man, it’s an easy first down and more. It’s either one of these things: a) Allen is not receptive to coaching and isn’t putting in the proper preparation. b) Allen is receptive to coaching, but is being taught incorrectly. c) Allen is receptive to coaching and is being taught well. For all the hand wringing about Dorsey, we’ve seen there are players open down after down, more often than not. Maybe not wide open, as you’d get with busted coverage or someone with elite physical traits, but definitely NFL open. For whatever reason these open players are not being targeted consistently. I do advocate moving on from Dorsey (and by extension this coaching staff), not because I think he’s a terrible coordinator, but because the results aren’t improving. To me, that speaks to either a) or b) above. In the case of a), we’re doomed. If it’s b), easy fix, get another teacher in here. If it’s c), then we’re also doomed because it’d mean that Allen isn’t good enough between the ears to win a championship. Let’s hope for all our sakes it’s b).
  25. My ideal next HC would be an offensive mind and would have a strong personality, a disciplinarian. Harbaugh seems to fit those traits well, but I don’t like him for the Buffalo job. Who else shares those same qualities?
