  1. I saw Brian Duncan (Texas Tech LB) play a couple of times and came away very impressed. He was a definite standout for the Red Raiders and I'm glad he'll have an opportunity to further his playing career in Buffalo. He has a real shot...
  2. I put this in the shout box, but might as well put it under the thread dedicated to Evans' Top 10 Performance. We tend to forget just how good Evans is, but in watching him shred the BAL defense, I did notice one thing about his comeback/out/short routes - they need to be more sudden. He takes pitter patter steps at the end of these routes whilst Steve Johnson has a sudden stop to his short game. It makes all the difference and is the reason why Johnson got the majority of short passes thrown his way. If close enough, a DB can jump a route if the WR takes a few steps to stop his route. A DB has no chance to jump a route on a sudden stop - unless he guesses correctly...
  3. Jasper is the most hyped 7th rounder in the history of the Buffalo Bills. I hope the dude lives up to every bit of the hype...
  4. According to these definitions, you CAN NOT hit them. It explicitly states, "a defender can't hit a QB in the act of throwing a pass, or right after the QB throws the pass." You also have to give the receiver time to avoid the oncoming hit, immediately after he has caught the ball. These are new amendments. We're not talking about launching yourself at these players, helmet to helmet, or whatever, those rules already existed. The "Touching of the QB's Helmet" rule was taken away to do away with the ticky tack personal foul calls that directly affect games. Sacks weren't sacks, because a player's hand may have grazed the QB's helmet. Again, these rules are not how you can't hit a player, but when you can't hit a player.
  5. I found this Q&A very interesting... I have a few problems with those issues in bold... 1) You can no longer hit a QB who's in the act of throwing the football?! Seriously?! This is how fumbles occur. These are exciting times for the defense and to take away the ability to hit a player while he is passing is absolutely absurd. Possibly the worst amendment to hit the rulebook. Ever. 2) A well timed hit after a receiver catches the ball, thereby dislodging the ball from the receiver, is no longer legal. The receiver must be given time to ward off the contact. Terrible. 3) A runner whose forward progress has been stopped? This is so subjective that it's ridiculous. How many times have we seen a player get hit, forward progress stopped, no whistle, get hit again, and break through those tackles to daylight...? If a player is hit and no longer moving forward, but the whistle has yet to blow, another defender should absolutely have the right to hit that player again. This is the NFL, players break tackles ALL the time. Hence the phrase, "I just kept my feet moving". 4) Are kickers and punters not football players? Are they not allowed to tackle the returner? Anybody on that field is fair game to be hit. 5) A player who receives a blindside hit from a player moving toward his own endzone... This is obviously the, "Hines Ward Rule". Now you can't block a player unless he looks at you. Great. Roger Goodell, how long will it be until your league is comparable to flag football, or two hand touch? You are taking away much of the game's physicality and some of these amendments are absolutely unnecessary. The game is getting worse ladies and gentlemen, not better.
  6. I can't rightly argue bout nothin' you spoke on, but this here be The Stadium Wall. Folks 'round here like gettin' out dem pitch foks and get ta jumpin' on other folks dat think a playa got potential. Truf is, these naysayers 'round here, ain't no betta than a Patriots fan runnin' 'round like a roosta lookin' for his chicken. This here fella rootin' for you Jasper. Eat dem quarterbacks!
  7. I guess you're not aware of the Bills winning streak against the Bengals...
  8. It never rains in Southern California.
  9. Does anyone believe the league would be in this current situation if former players' rep Gene Upshaw (RIP) and former commish Paul Tagliabue were still running the show? Very doubtful. I think this labor issue speaks directly to DeMaurice Smith and Roger Goodell, in failing at their positions to get deals done.
  10. Please tell me you were being sarcastic...
  11. No more typing on your IPhone. I revoke your privileges.
  12. Ding, ding, ding! NFL Scouts knew about him when he was 440 pounds. They asked him to lose 100 pounds. They showed up again to see his progress and he was at the same weight. He was immediately written off by those scouts. Matt Hand met with Jasper and told him to get under 400. Jasper did and Matt Hand credits Nix for helping him keep Jasper a secret.
  13. Four Downs
  14. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see, "CJ Spiller" on that list. Not even in Group I... I also think that Danny Woodhead is more valuable than BenJarvus Green-Ellis and that Lynch and Jackson are both better backs than Green-Ellis and a couple of others above them.
  15. Troup still leaves A LOT to be desired on the football field, but I do like his work ethic. Hopefully he can turn around and be a rock in the middle for this franchise. If not, I'll regret that we passed on the much more productive DT Lamarr Houston. Although Lamarr is more of a penetrating DT.
  16. This madness needs to stop. I'll echo what someone else had wrote about the whole situation: "it's not crazy that there are people in the world like Camping, false prophets who predict the end of the world, rather it is crazy that there are massive amounts of people willing to follow him." I wonder why he still refuses to give up his worldly possessions, as well as the millions of dollars that he's worth. Had he truly believed in his prediction, he'd be living in the streets, without a dollar to his name. Hmmm...
  17. Maybin lost even more weight? What's he down to now? 175 pounds soaking wet? The results of their drafts are not resolute, but I wish the Nix regime had been running the draft for the past decade. Players like Maybin, Whitner, McKelvin, McGahee, McCargo, and Losman, never would've been drafted by this team.
  18. A "whip" is a vehicle.
  19. That opening music was so campy and cheesy. More like the start of a soap opera than a football game. The game itself? Just another day at work for those Bills.
  20. Looks to me that Aaron Schobel caused the rushed overthrow because he got pressure on Boller. You're giving full credit to Whitner on that 4th and 1, when it was Schobel who prevented Boller from going through his reads. In any rate, nice find from 2007. I'm sure Donte hasn't played football in the 3 years since. How else can one go 47 games (Tampa Bay) without making a game changing play?
  21. Thinking back to every game he's ever played, I struggle to remember when Donte made a game changing play. I remember him returning an INT for a TD against Tampa Bay, but the Bills already had a comfortable lead. I can't remember ONE Polamalu, or Ed Reed type of play, in which Whitner has made. He wants to be paid like a game changing top 5 safety, yet he's never made a single one of those plays. 5 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, and 1.5 sacks in 5 seasons. That's 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and .3 sacks PER SEASON! Those numbers tell you all you need to know about his production, or lack thereof.
  22. Good yahoo article on every 1st round pick as a high school recruit. Click on the players' weights for their scouting report: Click Me A few thoughts: 1) Cameron Heyward already looked like a grown man. 2) Prince Amukamara needs to be introduced to Carmex. 3) JJ Watt is by far the lowest rated HS recruit. 4) Julio Jones HS athletic numbers were absolutely beastly.
  23. The scary thing is that he's not done losing weight! I think we can honestly call him one of the most athletic 350+ to ever play the game. The Questions are, does he have natural instincts and can he get off of blocks? He sounds like he's dedicated to being the best he can be, but time will tell. If he is in fact a load for NFL centers to contain, then his potential will be through the roof. Can't wait to hear about Eric Wood going against him in one on one drills...
  24. Very accurate assessment with numbers to back up the argument. He has never been a good safety, he's merely average. Where he was drafted doesn't matter, but he plays like a 3rd round pick, not like the 8th overall pick of an NFL draft. Thanks Marv. Thanks Jauron.
  25. In that interview, I like that Nix admitted which other players he'd love to have. GMs don't often do that. For those who missed it he gave props to OLB Ryan Kerrigan, DE Cameron Jordan, and TE Lance Kendricks. "We would've loved to have those guys regardless of what the pick is, because they'd make your team better. You know, you can't get them all, you only get one round and that's the way they fell." Trade offers: "our phone probably rang 15 times every round."
